Hey I was just wondering does anyone have footage of HTM debuting in the WWF, when Vince tried to push him as a face.  How long did the face turn last before HTM turned.  I just think it would be weird to here Vince or Gorilla praising the HTM

Twas on (Old) Challenge not too long ago here in Blighty.  He was brought in as a friend of Hulk, who I think did a few promos.  He did some initial squash matches as a good guy, and reactions were mixed.  I think it was more the house shows where he was getting Maivia-style heat.  So, they went ahead and did a fan vote as to whether people actually liked him.  They didn't, and Honky went heel, taking Jimmy Hart as his manager.  Not too long after, he turned Jake Roberts face, they fought at WM, and then he scored the upset over Steamboat.

 

Was this Vince's plan all along though?  Surely he didn't think an Elvis impersonator would get over as a face?

Well Vince might have thought it could work.  Hell Elvis did have alot of fans, maybe he saw him as a continuation of rock n wrestling.  The problem came in the fact that Wayne Ferris is just naturally annoying.
