Guest HartFan86 Posted September 24, 2002 Report Posted September 24, 2002 Let's say they bring back WCW. This is how I'd do it: Jan Royal Rumble (Combined Rumble, the rest of the card is WWF) Feb Super Brawl (WCW) Mar WrestleMania (Combined, obviously) Apr Spring Stampede (WCW) May King of the Ring (WWF) Jun Great American Bash (WCW) Jul Bash @ The Beach (WCW) Aug Summerslam (WWF) Sep No Mercy (WWF) Oct Halloween Havoc (WCW) Nov Survivor Series (WWF) Dec Starrcade (Combined, Obviously)
LaParkaYourCar Posted September 24, 2002 Report Posted September 24, 2002 Is there anyone who actually buys every single ppv for the whole year? It's better to order them as a group and split the cost so that you're only paying $5.
Guest Ram Posted September 24, 2002 Report Posted September 24, 2002 you "could" put a ppv together with two shows, but some of the best ppv's in history were not put together on two shows. Maybe they could go with my 6 ppv idea and on the off months have Clash of the Champions type shows. If I'm not mistaken, besides merchandise and ticket sales, PPV's are their profit machine. I doubt they'll limit it to 6 ever.
Guest dpac Posted September 24, 2002 Report Posted September 24, 2002 you know when they split the ppvs no old wcw names will be used, just a bunch of generic names like unforgiven, backlash, hhhshow
Guest The Czech Republic Posted September 24, 2002 Report Posted September 24, 2002 I remember doing a post about how WWF determines the names for its shows by drawing intimidating words out of a hat. "Well let's put in Vengeance, Breakdown, Payback, Strikeback, Backlash, Anger, Disaster, Burnout, Unforgiven, Misbegoten, Breaking Point, Game Over, Fully Loaded, Partially Loaded, Unloaded, Unleaded, and Intimidation." "We've got a show in July, what the hell do we call it?" "Well, just pull something out the hat." "(pulls out of hat) Vengeance? We did that in December! Can I pull a different name out?" "You can't break the rules of the hat. Vengeance it is." "But sir--" "The hat says Vengeance!"
LaParkaYourCar Posted September 24, 2002 Report Posted September 24, 2002 Misbegoten??? If the WWE named a ppv "Game Over" I'd mark out just for the fact that it could be taken as a shoot on HHH.
Guest Tony149 Posted September 24, 2002 Report Posted September 24, 2002 I remember reading somewhere (may have been the Torch) that Vince doesn't like the name "Starrcade".
LaParkaYourCar Posted September 24, 2002 Report Posted September 24, 2002 Did the Starrcade name have some ties to the Starr family in wrestling? I know it was a take off of the word Decade, but why two R's?
Guest HartFan86 Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 you know when they split the ppvs no old wcw names will be used, just a bunch of generic names like unforgiven, backlash, hhhshow LOL, that was great. Hell, they had one for him before with D-Generation X and they had Rock Bottom...so who knows. I'd mark out if they all of a sudden promoted 'THE GAME, live on PPV!" for their next PPV.
Guest The Czech Republic Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Misbegoten??? Yeah they're a bunch of bastards
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Can I just say...that in order to fill a ppv of just one shows talent... Guys like Albert and Dvon will be getting matches that you have to pay to see!
Guest papacita Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Is there anyone who actually buys every single ppv for the whole year? Well since DTV started showing WWE again I've order all of them this year except Vengeance. As for adding more PPVs, that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. They have too many PPVs as it is right now. By adding more, all they're doing is further devaluing their big shows.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 If the WWE named a ppv "Game Over" I'd mark out just for the fact that it could be taken as a shoot on HHH. Gaming site avault.com has a cheats section called Game Not Over which always makes me chuckle when I see it. It would certainly make a decent IYH name. =b
Guest humongous2002 Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 If they add up more ppvs which at the moment is as much of a bad idea as bringing the xfl back, will ruin the workrate quality, just imagine Bubba or Test main eventing, so for this to workout WWE has to 1- hire new more talented wrestlers and 2-lower the ppv prices.
Guest griffinmills Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 19 ppvs a year? Damn. They have 2 at least drop it by $10 then. Oh Pal, I know what you mean. Having to type "to" is rough. I absolutely agree with LPYC. Less PPV or smaller+cheaper PPV in between the big ones ala IYH. When they moved from the IYH style I _alllllmost_ stopped ordering. Then when the price went up, that was it. No more PPV unless the reviews are really, really good then I will order a replay. Everything else I'll just order a copy of from WWE for my video store.
Guest Olympic Slam Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 The WWE can't even stir up enough interest for ONE PPV a month with the supposed "greatest roster of all time." Does anyone REALLY wanna pay an extra 30 bucks a month to see John Cena take on Test for the Finland Championship at "Odious Actions ?"
Guest Trivia247 Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 hell why not make it a 3 promotion fight and triple the PPVs ECW WCW and WWE And then Vince buy Out Jerry and add NWA TNA and have the weekly ppvs
LaParkaYourCar Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Hey no one answered my Starrcade question.
Guest Trivia247 Posted September 25, 2002 Report Posted September 25, 2002 Don't know, Did the Starrs Wrestle in NWA?
