Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted September 25, 2002 I was watching the Bears game on Sunday afternoon and I swear I heard one of the halftime guys (If it's not James Brown, I don't care, they all suck compared to J.B.) said the Kansas City Chiefs, the "oldest team in the NFL" was winning. As a Bears fan, I am shocked and appalled that such a mistruth could slip through the cracks the way it did. The Kansas City franchise came about in 1960 as the Dallas Texans, an AFL team. In '62 the Texans moved to Kansas City where they reside to this day. They made it into the NFL when they absorbed the AFL. First of all, no AFL team can be the oldest team ever, right off the bat. The oldest franchise in existence would be the Chicago Bears, which have been ruling the Windy City since 1919. The second-oldest would be the Cardinals, which have been around since 1920 but have bounced back and forth from Illinois to St. Louis to Arizona. If it was Jimmy Johnson that made this gaffe, he should be kicked off the show, unless it would mean the return of Cris Collinsworth. Or maybe I just misheard what he said. I don't know. Guest cartman Report post Posted September 25, 2002 Maybe he meant "oldest" by combined age of players?
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted September 25, 2002 I'd be willing to bet that he meant the age of the players and not of the franchise. But i don't think that's accurate either.
