what happened on that Nitro episode?

The whole Bischoff and Russo era was too insider oriented.  The average fan had no clue as to why the guys were stripped of the titles.  I guess it was just because the net talked about how much guys like Sid sucked.  There was no particular reason to strip him, it was just B and R saying "Sid, you suck so you aren't champ anymore."  Considering that Jarrett had been feuding with him before B and R got back and that he ended up champ AFTER they got back, why didn't they just job Sid to him?

I have to admit though that I liked the Powers that Be angle, I am man enough to admit it.  During the Oct-Dec. 1999 HHH push from hell Nitro was a crazy and anarchic alternative.  It was like watching Hellzapoppin or something.

No kidding, Tony. The Russo/Bischoff Era began pretty damn good, but they just had to go and tank in the end. Sometimes, I feel sad being a WCW/NWA fan because of all the screw-ups that led to the promotion's ultimate demise. >>

Bisso began well?

I remember the April 10 Nitro which blew.

I remember the subsequent Thuder which was horrible.

I remember a Spring Stampede PPV which was, well, God awful.

When the main angle for the entire promotion is horribly flawed (the New Blood being heels was HORRIBLE), then the entire regime is off to a bad start.

And it only got worse.

Much, much worse.

April 10 Nitro sucked?

I don't think so.

With Awesome debuting and the total refreshment of angles and new faces, I thought it was a keeper.

When you consider what happened after that, the many swerves and thousands of dropped angles, it make the show look bad.

As far as watching that particular show, I think it was excellent.

Man,  I wish I had every Nitro and Thunder taped from late 99 through 2000 just to see some of the insane angles and all these misled storylines.

I used to be able to remember most anything someone would bring up from the last 5 years.  I can't do anything but draw a blank from half of the stuff everyone brings up about WCW before its demise.

I enjoyed the April 10th edition of Nitro, although I agree with everyone that all of the swerves did kill the booking behind that show.

If the New Blood had been booked as faces and oh...I dont know, the old guys SOLD for them, then it could have worked.  WCW could have build new stars are wouldn't be out of business today.

Devalued champs

Hughes brothers as tag champs

Brian Knobbs as Hardcore

Sid as World

Jarrett as US

And what was the deal with Kanyon joining the "old-people" stable in the big 8 man tag main event?

But I have to admit that the Goldberg/Hart promo was a Mark moment, with Bill going to Spear Brett then revealing a metal plate.  But it never lead to anything now did it?

It was kinda hard for "The New Blood" to be faces when the faces were booing them. Having R & B with them probablt didn't help them get a face reaction, but the fans were going to cheer "the old guys" no matter what.

Right, most fans have no reason to boo Hogan and the old guys, it's their heroes. They don't know or care that Hogan is a jerk backstage. I think the idea was to have the smarks cheering for the New Blood and the marks cheering for the Old guys and then eventually get the New Blood over as "cool heels".

Sid's last appearance before the heel turn(which was dropped) was on the next Thunder. He fought Harlem Heat 2K I think.

Then team up Russo+Bischoff with the OLD guys instead.

The story just made a lot more sense with the old guys as heels I think.  The old guys trying to hold their spot when they don't quite have it any more, using their political pull with R+B to get ahead, etc.

They could of done that. They should of just had Russo with the New Blood & Bischoff with the old guys. Like it should of been.
