Guest Blackston Report post Posted September 25, 2002 I started to do the games for this weekend, but when Iowa State vs. Nebraska is my game of the week, there is just something not right about it. There are no really good games this weekend, but there is always the real possibility of somebody getting upset. I'll be back next week with some real good games, including games that could decide the Big Ten and Pac Ten race... The week after that, all hell is going to break loose. Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted September 25, 2002 Isnt there a 4-0 Kentucky vs Florida game? If Kentucky had something to play for (A Bowl, which there are ineligable for) Id say this was ripe for an upset.
Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted September 26, 2002 Kentucky upset Louisville opening day, Louisville was one of the mid-major teams looking to break into the BCS and Kentucky killed that hope. Louisville plays FSU Thursday...before the season this got a lot of hype...had it been played after the FSU/Iowa State game it might be more interesting...but other than Ragone the Louisville offense sucks...the Louisville defense is one of the best in the nation though but I think FSU will win. Kentucky/Florida could be interesting. UCLA San Diego State Please guys, no more letdowns. At least UCLA won't have to worry about the run...SDSU's Adam Hall has back-to-back 500 yard passing games...reciever J.R. Tolver is averaging 11 catches and 150 yards per game, and the other reciever Karim Osgood is averaging 8 catches a game. UCLA is shifting Ware to corner to compensate. Should be no problem running on SDSU's defense, and SDSU's special teams are horrible. Should be a win for UCLA.

Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted September 27, 2002 The UPSET SPECIAL... Louisville 26, #4 Florida State 20 Louisville went into the half losing 13-6 and killing themselves with penalties, as well as being on the FSU 2 twice and coming away with only three points total. Both offenses were hampered by the rain. In the second half Louisville went back to their passing game, with Ragone making key throws and runs all over the place. Ragone threw two TD's to tie it (mixed with a Chris Rix TD strike in between). Overtime. FSU gets the ball first, the ball slips out of Rix's hands and is picked off by Louisville safety Anthony Floyd. On Louisville's first play Henry Miller tears off the game winning TD run. Ragone was 15 of 27 for 182 yards, two touchdowns and an INT but made several big plays in the second half to bring them back. FSU was the highest ranked team Louisville has beat in it's history. Great game.
Guest cabbageboy Report post Posted September 27, 2002 Oh...my...god. I was at the U of L game tonight, at least the first half of it. My brother was already kinda sick today and had to go to school so we left at the half (as did a LOT of people). I told him I'd never forgive him if U of L came back to win it. Heh, guess what happened. Still, I was marking out even here at home.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted September 27, 2002 the FSU vs Louisville game was great, I wonder how far will FSU will fall in the polls
Guest Leena Report post Posted September 27, 2002 Damn, I wish I bothered to watch the game now. FSU probably won't drop below 15th, which is bullshit. Ugh, now that we know FSU sucks, who is Notre Dame going to lose to now??
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted September 27, 2002 Florida St. doesn't have a good pass rush, so if you're a team with a good throwing QB than you have a chance to win. Carlyle Holiday can't throw the ball. It's at Florida St. and they'll still beat Notre Dame.
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted September 27, 2002 Ooh, could NC State beat FSU also? I wish I had remembered that game was on TONIGHT, otherwise I might not have gone out. I'm glad that FSU lost, helps us out in the polls. Oh, by the way... I'M GOING TO THE TENNESSEE/RUTGERS GAME, BAYBEE~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCK YEAH!!!!! (BLASTS "ROCKY TOP" OVER AND OVER AGAIN) FO SHEEZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kotzenjunge
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted September 27, 2002 With Phillip Rivers,at QB and the game I believe at N.C.St than yes I do think N.C. State has a chance
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted September 27, 2002 Yup... BUT RUTGERS HAS NO CHANCE ON SATURDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, I'm just excited as hell. I mean, I saw them play at the Citrus Bowl which should have made me more excited, and I have been to Neyland Stadium before(pictures were lost when the computer died, dammit), but never for a game. 108,000 rabid fans in a sea of orange. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!! Oh, and did anyone else notice the demise of two top five teams in the last two weeks were both in terribly rainy games? Solution: STOP FOOTBALL FOR RAIN! Hey, baseball does it, and they're America's Pastime somehow. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest Grenouille Report post Posted September 27, 2002 That was an awesome game last night. The Gators are creeping back up, so get ready to sing We Are The Boys From Old Florida at the Fiesta Bowl this year. By the way Kotzen, I just downloaded Rocky Top, it's pretty damn catchy. Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted September 28, 2002 NC State beat Florida State last year 34-28 in Doak Campbell, so a win is possible. The only knock on NC State is while they have looked good, it's been against crappy opponents with the exception of Texas Tech. But the way FSU looks I think NC State can take them. Rutgers goes to Tennessee? The Tennessee band will be exhausted from playing Rocky Top that they won't be able to do the halftime show. And about the rain...hey Louisville managed to play in the rain. It's kinda funny, they mentioned Rix was from California and probably hadn't played in a game like that with the rain. I knew they were wrong...cause he had and I WAS THERE. It was in 1998, my senior year of high school. Before Rix transferred to Santa Margurita HS, he played for Bishop Amat (my alma mater...GO LANCERS). Anyway, about halfway through the season our senior QB got hurt and Rix was starting (freshman, skipped the freshman and JV teams, even at that point everyone was raving about him). Our first-string tailback, Michael Wagner was injured too (He plays for Iowa State now - #4). Somehow we got through two rounds of the CIF championship and were playing Mater Dei in the semifinals. It was raining hard...only sporting event I've been to where it rained...and it rained all game. Field was muddy as hell, the works. When they showed the rain at Louisville it reminded me of that game. We lost 28-14...Rix didn't do all that well, he couldn't throw well in the rain and our running game sucked cause Wagner was out. Mater Dei had a great team that year and just overwhelmed us as well. Anyway...back from my little detour...enjoy? My point is...they play football in all conditions - rain, snow or shine. And a football team must be prepared to play no matter what. You don't see the NFL cancelling games when it snows in Lambeau cause the good teams can't do anything in the snow. The first half, both teams played bad in the rain. Louisville was the team that said "Screw the rain. We can do what we do when we want to." They ignored the weather...and eventually won the game. Edit: misspell of "exhausted"
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted September 28, 2002 Yeah, something I've noticed, and this is purely from an auditory standpoint: The Tennessee band sounds louder on recordings than any other band. Do they have better equipment or do they just rule that much? I seriously have to turn it down a little when Rocky Top comes on after listening to, for example, Nebraska's, a moment earlier. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest razazteca Report post Posted September 28, 2002 Nebraska is losing to Iowa State Nebraska's passing game is weak, while Iowa State's running game is strong.
Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted September 29, 2002 UCLA beats SDSU pretty good, so I am happy this week. I suppose all the hype about Penn State is going to dissipate a little bit now. I think most experts predicted Nebraska losing to Iowa State...ISU is a great team, and Seneca Wallace is simply amazing. Didn't watch much football today since I had to get my car tire fixed (embedded mail) and the Pac-10 game they showed ended up ASU 62, Stanford 24. Big blowout, ASU is 4-1, not bad for a team picked to finish at the bottom of the Pac-10. Another "bottom feeder", Cal, was leading Washington State before WSU came back and won 48-38...wish they would have shown that game instead. Looking forward to next week's slate of games. Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted September 29, 2002 Way to show up Tennessee. Let Rutgers return the opening kick back for a TD. You'd think after getting thrashed by Florida at home you'd be a little fired up.
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted September 29, 2002 Well, being at the game, the crowd was PISSED at the Vols, and booed them off the field at halftime. I think Fulmer took my advice and kicked every guy in the balls for sucking so goddamn much. Results showed in the second half. Rutgers fans, although a very small percentage of the 103,925 people in attendance, were loud as hell. Believe it or not, this is what I said to my father as the opening kickoff was about to be executed: "Man, after all that pregame hypeness, it'd kill the crowd dead if they returned this for a touchdown." True story. I'm going to write about the whole trip after I get some sleep. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
