"WRESTLING ‘MONSTER' SLAMMED BY LAWYERS

By KATI CORNELL SMITH

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RING THING:

Jurors watched a video of lowlights yesterday featuring Nicole Bass, who is suing World Wrestling Entertainment.

- Dave Allocca/DMI

September 25, 2002 -- Jurors yesterday got ringside seats to the wrestling antics of "angry Amazon" Nicole Bass, courtesy of video from ex-promoters trying to prove she was a titanic no-talent.

Juiced-up TV announcers on the tapes roared that the 6-foot-3, 230-pound bodybuilder was "the monster," "a freak of nature" and "a walking, talking female nightmare."

But instead of shining in the spotlight, Bass was typically seen on the tapes taking on minor roles in the raucous ring - including hapless bodyguard or girlfriend to famous wrestlers.

Defense lawyer Jerry McDevitt claims Bass, 38, filed a sexual-harassment suit against World Wrestling Entertainment out of bitterness over being fired in July 1999 because she bombed on TV. She had worked for WWE for only five months.

As McDevitt grilled the frizzy blond Bass on the witness stand, he would frequently interrupt her testimony with videos portraying her schmaltzy schtik.

She could be seen on the tapes cheering on her "partner," then stoically entering the ring mid-match to hurl an opponent by the neck onto the mat.

At one point, she climbs through the ropes to help her "love interest," superstar Val Venis, but mistakenly smashes a guitar over his head.

Promoters say the manly voiced Bass had one scripted line to repeat.

"I want your slide trombone in my brass section," she would growl at Venis.

Brooklyn federal Judge Nicholas Garaufis pulled the plug on the WWE lawyers' video show when they asked to play other tapes of "good" wrestlers.

"I'm not going to let you create a production to be shown in Brooklyn federal court," Garaufis said. "The next thing I know, you're going to be directing a steel cage in here."

Bass says she feared retaliation against her after a WWE manager allegedly groped her on board a jet headed to England - then threatened to have her dropped on her head in the ring if she told anyone.

But under questioning, Bass admitted her feet never left the ground in any of her televised matches.

The massive bodybuilder dissolved into tears as McDevitt grilled her on inconsistencies in her testimony.

Bass admitted on the witness stand that her former lawyers artificially pumped up an earlier version of her lawsuit, inflating her income and demanding an excessive $120 million in damages.

Bass claims that during her four months as a "superstar" wrestler for WWE, she was repeatedly subjected to unwelcome sexual advances and intrusions into the women's locker rooms at WWE events.

Bass added she was "horrified and disgusted" when wrestler Shawn "Heartbreak Kid" Michaels once called her "mister" during a live spot in which she acted the part of bodyguard to female wrestler Sable. "

I kind of feel sorry for her. Yes, she sucked in the ring, but the incidents in question no doubt took place.

I see that thread title and article headline and I keep thinking of Fred Norris's "Herman Munster crying" impression from whenever she was on the Stern show.

Fox News Channel did a 2 minute story on it and of course there was no one speaking for the EVIL WWE, but there were two or three Female analysts ready too bash the Evil Empire.

Not that im defending them or Bass, its just what No one needs, espically the WWE

This was probalby a blessing in disguise for WWE. Knowing Vince, he probalby would have demanded to show the likes of HHH, Taker, Brock Lesnar, Test, and Bradshaw.

It'd be funny if Nicole Bass showed a tape of HHH and Nash tearing their quads, and the SummerSlam sign falling behind Gene Okerlund, and Michael Cole saying things. "You call ME unprofessional? All these people are still employed!"

LoL @ Czech.

That would be funny.

But damn 4 months for $120 million?

I'm sure when people talk about her on air, it's all to put her over and such. But off air it should be equal respect for everyone. If WWE people did sexually harrass her or threaten her, than they should get something tossed at them. But berating her wrestling ability is another thing. That shouldn't be the main point of this case anyways.

I can't really remember her actions on WWE tv. I was strickly into WCW at that time probably. Or didn't have cable at all at that time.

I winer about the validity of these accusations for one reason: the WWE didn't settle out of court. Usually with every other court case that comes their way they are quick to settle out of court and just get it over with. They actually let this one go to trial which makes me wonder if Bass made this up.

Her lack of talent IS a valid point, because she is claiming 'unfair termination'.

I don't have a clue what might have happened, but it's INCREDIBLY easy to throw accusations against WWF/E. If you know anything about the company's history you'd know they've had these problems come up on a semi-regular basis, so if you claim something like sexual harrassment or death threats your claims are given more credibility than they may normally be given elsewhere.

Hell, screw history - all she had to do was see what had happened with Sable a couple months prior.

Compared to Bass, I'd say that Test is a goddamned Ric Flair.

Be kind of funny if Bass' Lawyers brought in some old Ref's and Rookies to testify against the WWE.

She's already screwed herself over with admitting she let the lawyers overinflate things.

Plus she needs a thicker skin with the HBK comments. If it was on camera then boo-hoo it's part of the show.

And isn't the Brooklyn Brawler being accused of doing something to her. I thought he was gay.

She's already majorly shot herself in the foot though.

The person groped her to see if she had a penis...

A lesbian vid of her and Chyna would sell thousands just on curiosity factor.....
