Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted September 26, 2002 As a huge fan of Led Zeppelin, from the first album all the way to Coda, I would argue they are the best band in history simply because of their consistency, with just about every song being good. Of course the ignorant and un-led-ucated wil just say "oh I love Stairway to Heaven," but wouldn't recognize the other incredible songs like Carouselambra, No Quarter, Dazed and Confused, Since I've Been Loving You, When the Levee Breaks(inspiration for Jericho's theme btw), or the Battle of Evermore. What songs by Led Zeppelin would you guys say are outright bad? There are a very small amount in my opinion, but your ideas may differ. I would have to say that Rain Song and Hot Dog are really the only glaringly awful songs they've put out. Everything else is great.
Guest B-X Report post Posted September 26, 2002 I am the biggest Zeppelin mark on this board. So this is a thread of great interest to me.. Rain song bad? Dude, I love that. It's easily in the top 15. However, Hot Dog is a pile of shit. I didnt like Bring It On Home that much, but it's by no means bad. Nor did I like Wanton Song, or Sick Again. Best Zep album in my opinion has to be Houses of the Holy, with Zep 3 in second. The Song Remains The Same gets a mention, because its so fucking good. Guest HellSpawn Report post Posted September 26, 2002 Tough question. As a Zepp fan, not hardcore just a fan, I cant find a bad song... maybe I need to re-listen my L.P., sadly i no longer have L.P. player but I do have a few CDs, I'll re listen those ones and return for a comment. Of course, IMDO, any "bad song" is way much better than sevral heroes from today.
Guest JAxlMorrison Report post Posted September 26, 2002 Yeah "Hot Dog" is definitely a ridiculous piece of shit. The rest? Almost every other Zeppelin song is from decent to fuckin outstanding.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted September 26, 2002 hmm..Hot Dog, as mentioned, I also don't care for Rock 'n Roll. Not really a bad song, per se. But I've heard it way too many times to like it anymore. Same with Ocean.
Guest mesepher Report post Posted September 26, 2002 Hot Dog is one of the worst songs I've ever heard by a band that I like... its up their with (Don't Fear) The Reaper... I tend to believe that the entire "In Through the Outdoor" never should have been released... its definitely the worst Zeppelin album, and its name is spookishly close to an anal sex reference it's pure shit though. Yeah I noticed that when I first saw it I was like "Wait a minute....eww." Carouselambra and Fool in the Rain are awesome songs, and the album was released because John Paul Jones was threatening to quit I think. Of course Bonham choked on his own vomit (yes, it WAS his own) soon after, perhaps from listening to Hot Dog. Presence is an overall average album, but it has Achilles Last Stand. Guest godthedog Report post Posted October 3, 2002 while it's not really a bad song, 'misty mountain hop' sticks out like the mother of all sore thumbs on IV. every single other track on it is very good to mind-blowingly awesome, and in the middle of it is this really mediocre little throwaway song. it's so irritating it makes me skip the track whenever i listen to it. and i only have the album on tape, where it's hard to skip a song. i own less than half the zeppelin catalog, so i can't think of any truly bad songs of theirs. The Rain Song is beautiful and was featured in one of my favorite movies, Almost Famous. I'm not really a fan of The Crunge on Houses of the Holy, I tend to skip over it
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted October 3, 2002 Bad songs: D'yer M'aker Stairway to Heaven Good Songs Whole Lotta Love When the Leeve Breaks Tangerine Over the Hills and Far Away
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted October 4, 2002 i think if you take 'nobody's fault but mine' off of presence then you could throw away the rest of the album without shedding a tear. there is a reason it is stuck in the bargain bins.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted October 4, 2002 Bad songs: D'yer M'aker Stairway to Heaven Good Songs Whole Lotta Love When the Leeve Breaks Tangerine Over the Hills and Far Away Stairway To Heaven is a damn good song IMHO not as good as some say but damn good. D'yer m'aker isn't great but I wouldn't call it bad.
Guest godthedog Report post Posted October 4, 2002 'nobody's fault but mine' isn't even the best track on the album.
