VH1's 100 Sexiest Artist

Recommended Posts

Guest Kinetic

I'd say Tad or Bob Mould would definitely make the ugliest musician list, although VH1 viewers would have no reason to know who they are. Oh, and Carnie Wilson when she was fat. Elvis Costello in his prime was no looker, although he's settled into a kind of vaugely handsome gap-toothed elder statesman thing. It's actually kind of hard to think of ugly musicians.

Lemmy Kilmister's a sick-lookin' motherfucker. He's got those two cocoa-puff sized growths on the side of his face.

Aaron Neville

Aretha Franklin

Mama Cass

Pretty much anyone involved with Opera.

I never got what people saw in Tina Turner.

Gwen Stefani with makeup = awful

Gwen Stefani without makeup = damn cute

John Popper's thin now and actually looks like a normal person, believe it or not. You know, Brian Wilson is pretty ugly, as well. He's got this creepy childlike quality about him that doesn't sit well with me. Oh, and C.C. DeVille of Poison is pug fugly. Know that.

I must profess a heterosexual crush on the Old 97s' Rhett Miller. I have his recently released solo album, and check out the cover:

Not only is he pretty, high falutin' literary types like Kafka and Don Delillo have their names dropped in the songs. Plus, it's a fine 40 minute set of power pop.

Tina Turner was bangin back in the day. I like Lauryn Hill (those eyes) and Gwen Stefani too.

Those eyes are mesmerizing. As far as males I find attractive in a totally heterosexual way, he's no Jude Law...but he's close.

I hear ya. I just can't stop staring at the cover. It's amazing that I was able to break myself away from it long enough to take out the CD.

Having just seen their video for "Jesus, etc." on 120 Minutes, I'd like to say that as highly as I think of his musical abilities, Wilco's Jeff Tweedy won't be winning the $10 second place prize in a beauty contest anytime soon.

They released "Jesus, etc" as a single? Wonderful. That's probably the best song on that album. I'd have to agree with you on his appearance, although he looks infinitely better now than he did during his hayseed days with Uncle Tupelo.

They also played the video for Rhett Miller's "Come Around"--an ingratiating song that could be huge with its catchy hook and Miller's TRL-friendly looks. Even though I do like his solo disc, The Instigator, I'm a bit more fond of his work with the Old 97s. But hey, whenever anyone talented finds mainstream success, I'm happy.

Death Metal isn't known for it's photogenic artists either.

Exhibit A: Dying Fetus

Exhibit B: Rich Lipscomb of Fleshgrind

Courtney Love cleans up nicely, but I wouldn't call her sexy. No, I wouldn't.
