Here are big cities without baseball franchises but have one or more other franchise:

Salt Lake City-Maybe you could get the Mormons to finance it.

San Antonio-Eh. Maybe. Too many Texas/Florida/California sports teams.

Portland-Doesn't Oregon have strict drug testing?

Nashville-That would work.

Columbus-Reds/Indians/(Expos) all in one state might be oversaturating.

Buffalo-Doesn't strike me as a baseball town.

Indianapolis-See above.

New Orleans-They'd have to play in the Superdome.

Washington-Best choice thusfar.

Last I heard Buffalo was very supportive of their AAA ballclub.

Charleston, SC has been discussed as a possible expantion candidate in the past.

Or, maybe... just maybe... they won't move at all. Stranger things have happened.

Yeah, really. I've heard, 'This could be the Expos last game in Montreal' so many times, that it's lost all meaning.

Indy isn't a Baseball town, but they do have a AAA team, the Indians who are oddly enough a Brewers farm team I think (not an Indians team anyway). They have a substantial hispanic population and generally Hispanics like baseball, now getting all the white hicks to watch something other than College B-Ball and the Colts might be tough, but that's another story.

My Unlce lives near Indy and feels the same way.

It migth work but an entire city would have to learn to like baseball and that's kind of tough. There isn't anotehr MLB team with in reasonable driving distance (Chicago=4 hours, St Louis=5 hours or so), so nobody there goes to MLB games.
