Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted October 4, 2002 Lord of the Curry-I share your Taue hatred, friend. I've seen his 95 Carny stuff, and it's still Taue, not some magical "Good Taue."
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted October 4, 2002 I don't get the Taue hatred. Yeah, he's not nearly the physical specimen that the Big 3 are (and half the time his chokeslam sucks), but he's still damn good for a big middle-aged guy. Compare his work to that of Hogan, Sid, 'Taker, any of the Hosses, etc.
Guest Ram Report post Posted October 4, 2002 The Final Four match was what actually brought me into WWF for the first time. I'm not sure why, though.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted October 4, 2002 Considering his moveset is the same as most of the hosses, and he bumps just about as well, I don't see how he's much better.

Guest RickyChosyu Report post Posted October 4, 2002 His match in '95 vs. Misawa was a high MOTYC and he had matches with Kobashi that saw him carrying the guy. I don't think Sid could ever boast to that. Lets not forget performing well in the two best men's tag matches of all time, by the way.

Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted October 4, 2002 I personally despise Hogan/Rock from WM 18. What a horrible match. Bret/HBK from WM 12 smoked some savage sausage for damn near 40 minutes before it even became worth a shit. HHH/Angle/Rock from SummerSlam 2000: I hate three way matches and this is no different from any of the rest of them the WWE has ever pumped out. RVD/Jeff Hardy from Invasion is what I'd normally call "boring horseshit". Foley/UT HIAC match from KOTR 98 still puts me to sleep to this day.
Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted October 4, 2002 Ricky- Actually, I generally try to forget any match involving Taue. The guy is simply too slow for my tastes, he doesn't really have the "it" factor that others have. Misawa has his detatched, cool manner. Kobashi has the explosive fighting spirit. Kawada has the stoic, badass look that says "don't fuck with my shit." Taue has....umm.....a shitty chokeslam. Super. True, he was in two of the best mens tag matches of all time, but look who he was surrounded by. I don't think that people call them the greatest tags of all time because of Taue's involvement, though I could be wrong. And dating back to your earlier reply, I've seen some of his early stuff. And I still don't like the guy. There are many other workers in Japan I'd pick before Taue.
Guest Special K Report post Posted October 4, 2002 I like Taue. Granted, the vast majority of what i've seen from him in singles is from the Carny '95, but, I really liked his matches, and my friend (who is new to puro) dubbed the final his favorite match ever. I think it's all about who you are comparing him to: Misawwa/Kawada/Kobashi, arguablly the best workers ever in their prime (aside from jobashi) . I Don't discount the carry factor, but to me, Taue was a great wrestler from what I have seen. Shit, though, everyone's got their opinion.
