Thank you for understanding. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ All right. Now again we spark the ever popular and always flameable thread of who the strongest comic book character is. Lets keep the bitching to a minimal people. I know its a tough and interesting topic but we all have our own opinions and we should all be tolerant of everyone elses. Lets see hulk or thor top that, I can crush rocks, i can crush things, i can kill you by looking at you. Noncosmic/mutant/born with it, im giving superman the win becase, his powers arent from outside sources, like thor and hulks are. He was born that way. hulk and thor are not, Im also giving props to lobo because he killed santa and his whole planet. Non mutant, Batman, beats punisher, and other then that i cant actively think of a nonmutant or superpowered being, sure theres more but i dont read books actively and havent cared in years. Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted September 29, 2002 If we're talking about who the strongest non-Mutant is then it could go to Bane, the Kingpin or the Ox. All three of them have shown incredible strength in certain situations in the past. The exact limit of his strength of course changes from story to story...but the basic rule seems to be...if the story requires it, Superman can pick up/destroy anything. The exact nature of it depends on how far along the continuity you are, but it derives one way or another from the yellow sun. Stick Hulk (who is the strongest one there is,remember), on Krypton, he is still the strongest one there is. Stick Kal-El back on Krypton, and he is only as strong as any Kryptonian pretty boy. Of course, it depends which Hulk we are talking about too. I am assuming we are talking about the savage green timebomb, who is well established as being really, really, strong. Not mutant/super-powered? Well, there are lots of really strong guys. I mean, Cap is pretty strong, but he might be considered super-powered due to the old SSS/Vita-Ray treatment. Nuke was pretty strong. But neither are as strong as the Hulk. And that was the question. BTW, I refuse to take this topic overly seriously, as the upper limit for any characters strength is a plot device. Superman has run into stuff he is not strong enough to deal with, as has Thor, Hulk, etc. A few stories down the line, they can probably deal with someone/something stronger. It all depends what needs to happen for a good story. But no other character emphateticly states it like the Green Goliath, or puts as much of his own personal identity into it as the savage Hulk. So he is the strongest one there is. I'm sure if Thor or Kal-El want to argue it with him, he'll rip their tongue out to prove his point. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Guest starvenger Report post Posted September 29, 2002 Whoever has the Infinity Gauntlet is probably the strongest character in any comic universe. I agree with gthureson though - a character's strength is essentially another plot device for a writer to use if he so desires. In some cases - like Hulk and Superman - it's played up because that's one of the main foci of the character. Living Tribunal makes sure the universes are in order correctly, and he can even destroy entire universes if he wishes. Without the outside use of weapons/tools he is still the strongest. When Thor enters into his warriors rage he is approximately 10 times stronger then he is when usual. Now the Hulk is a close second, due to the principle of "The madder Hulk gets, the stronger Hulk gets." If that is the case, then he could very well be the strongest character ever. Excepting of course for the fact that if someone could kill an unsuspecting Hulk when he was calm, so he wouldn't have the chance to get angry, his potential is void. Galactus once admitted that Thor had greater power than he. " The Spectre has unlimited power from God, except he can't change the past, or see the future." Thor is a god. And we are talking about comprehensional beings. Not the ones who actually cause the universe to function like the Living Tribunal. Gladiator is not stronger than the Hulk necessarily. If for some reason Gladiator thought that he could be beaten by the Hulk, he would be beaten. Superman is a puss. "Oh, lets fight for justice!" Bah! Lets fight for food! Guest J*ingus Report post Posted September 29, 2002 I'd throw in a vote for Doomsday here. A guy so physically strong that Superman literally can't beat him, period. Supes always has to have massive outside help to put DD away for even a little while, despite the fact that DD's only power is ludicrously enhanced physical attributes. One would think that the living embodiment of the freaking universe would have the ability to kick anythings ass if he/she truly felt a need to. Or the Beyonder. What were the Beyonder's powers? I mean, maybe in some alternate galaxy or distant plant hero A can beat up hero B. That doesn't count. Plus we're talking about strength here...not power. I would say Batman has power almost equal to Superman, but certainly not strength. Like I said...there is basically no limit to Superman's strength.
