CWM Rages Against The Machine

I.Hate.Viruses. The day before I was on AIM talking to some people when I get a call from SHAW (Internet Provider) saying I have the CODE RED virus and I have to turn off my PC immediatly or it could cause something really really bad.

So I shut my computer off and they sent over one the nerds...I mean fixer dudes. But the geek...fixer dude tells me it's already done alot of corrupting and that he needs to essentially delete everything on my hard drive. Which means I lose EVERYTHING I didn't have saved on to a disk, which means I lost what I had written for the OAOAST show on Monday and a bunch of other stuff.

Whatever I can handle that. So today when I get back on the Computer FINALLY I try to get AIM and some of my old stuff back but now everytime I get AIM I get a message from an anti-virus program he put in telling me that it's infected with a virus so I can't have it on my PC.

I HATE COMPUTER VIRUSES~!

That's why its actually worth the 30 bucks for a virus scanner. By the way.. your powers should work now because Rob's does.

Even some virus scanners suck though, like I bought Norton AntiVirus but they want me to pay another annual fee for the ability to download virus updates from their computer. Whasupwidat?

Most anti-virus programs, like Norton and McAfee (the former is superior, btw) give you one year of free downloads in terms of new virus definitions, program updates, etc. After that, you either have to pay for the updates or get the newest version of the software.

Of course, you can install a different copy of the existing software (after uninstalling the old) and get another year of updates for free.

I prefer the Trend Micro virus scanner that came with my Ontrack System Suite. Norton always messes with your e-mail settings.

I just got the newest version of Norton so hopefully I will be virus free now.

I have the address for a free online scan, and it's great.

I use Yahoo mail, but I never gets attachments or any of that junk... It's just there for me to read my mailing list.

Could you post that? I used to have it bookmarked but I forgot what it was.
