Lets say the RIAA wins

Lets say they do, they get everything they want and mp3s are gone, no more burners, etc. Now I know it wont happen but play along with me for a minute. Now lets say they win, and music sales continue to decline, and they still would, but thats not the point, what do you think they would then blame the low sales on? I just curious to what they could then possibly blame low sales on, i mean they are never gonna say cause the music sucks, so what excuse do you think they could come up with?

Those damned blank cassette tapes, of course. They're going to be the death of the music industry! Frankly, I think they eventually would come to the conclusion that it's because of the overwhelming homogeny of radio and MTV, but they'd phrase their findings so that they'd seem diplomatic.

I got tired of it. The Dylan avatar is always going to be there, but my sig is negotiable. I was looking for something new, came across that comic in a thread in General Chat, and changed it. I rather like the new one. It's even funnier when taken out of context.

They will blame the fans for not being commited to the music artists. Isn't it funny how the artists that sell MILLIONS OF ALBUMS are the ones who are all pissed, yet Joe Schmo who sells 10,000 cds is OVERJOYED that someone would want their MP3.....Fuck the RIAA, RIAA needs to stop acting like thugs and just shell out THEIR CASH for the artists.

A fine answer has been supplied. It'll get to the point where they'll just HAVE to admit that most mainstream music is crap, and THAT'S why so many people don't feel like paying for anything. It'll be sorta like Vince McMahon grudgingly admitting that maybe why ratings have gone down is due to a crappy on-air product. Of course, outside of the occasional glimmer of hope on Smackdown!, he doesn't seem to intent on changing things. I suspect the RIAA would take, at first, a similar path, too.
