Well ok it isn't a big change since I started Miller this week eventhough Warner wasn't hurt. Damnit i knew something was going to happen to Warner this year and didn't want him on any of my teams. Oh well that's what i get for forgeting the draft time and not showing up till the 3rd round, in a draft that had me at #1 for my first time ever.

At one point the Cowboys were going after Robert Thomas so much he had to be pulled, I could imagine Martz putting all the blame on Thomas the way he did on Trung Candiate last week.

When you're winning, everything goes your way...a bad call in the NFC Championship game against TB that stalled TB's last drive for example. When you're losing, EVERYTHING goes wrong...Take the last drive. Conwell is wide open, but Martin gets sacked. Wilkins then misses the field goal. Quincy Carter makes the fatal error of throwing to the middle of the field...and spikes it in time to get the winning FG off. Also on one set of downs, a reciever and then Faulk dropped passes. Faulk seems to be fumbling a lot more than before. The Rams don't have the breaks going for them they way they used to. Just something I've noticed between winning and losing teams, especially displayed by the Rams.

Yeah i know they didn't do great the second season but still i'd call three straight good years. The NFL just figured out how to stop the Greatest Show on Earth now. The coaching staff is just showing that they have no clue what to do if what they do best doesn't work.

I said from the first day that they started throwing every down like a bunch of sissy track stars that the way to beat 'em was to hit them hard and often. Can't run when you're beat to hell.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted September 30, 2002 Report Posted September 30, 2002 Word is out of St. Louis that Warner's Pinky finger will need surgery and he is out for at least 8-10 weeks, possibly the rest of the season (10 weeks would mean he'd be out til week 14, which only leaves 3 games left for them to play) Word is also that they are looking at getting a QB for insurance in case Jamie Martin struggles, although who they would be able to get at this point in time of the season is a question.

If the Rams continue to play like they are currently playing they will be way out of Playoff hope in 8-10 weeks so wouldn't be any point in rushng him to start in the last 3 or 4 pointless games. If they start playing like they should be, Jamie Martin plays well and they are in playoff contention than the Rams wouldn't rip the team from Martin's grasp and give it back to Warner and risk what's been working. Either way Warner is gone for the season and the Rams have to show up and play like they can now or their season is over.

Jamie Martin might not be a bad backup, but there's absolutely no reason they shouldn't be calling Marshall Faulk's number a lot more now. He got 18 carries in this past Sunday's game, which is a joke. He's the best offensive player in football, yet he had fewer carries after the first two games than Stephen Davis had in game one. Looks like the Ball Coach might be taking that (completely undeserved) label of "offensive genius" from Mike Martz, whose main coaching attribute is that he rides coattails better than anyone except George Siefert.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted October 2, 2002 Report Posted October 2, 2002 I forget whether or not I said it here or some chat room, but after the Rams lost thier first game, I said that their lack of depth at QB and the fact that Warner had a history of getting hurt (his thumb and his pinky finger back in 2000) could be a problem. Their QB Depth Chart now Starter - Jamie Martin Backup - Marc Bulger Third String - Scott Covington OUT - Kurt Warner And they just did sign Covington yesterday. And while some people are comparing Martin to Trent Green, I dont see it but I could be wrong. EDIT - the Rams signed Martin to a 2 year contract worth 2.54 million early this year, so he's locked up until next year.

Yeah, their season is basically over. They still have a slight hope of correcting it and making an attempt at a wild card. But the chances of that happening in todays NFL where anyone can win on a given Sunday are very VERY slim. However there's still a chance of them going at least 9-3 the rest of the season and sneaking into the playoffs IF they can start playing like they should be.

Now that Orlando Pace is out the QB is getting sacked more often in key plays and Marshall Faulk is no longer Superman without good blocking and decoy players like Az Hakim. the Rams season looks like the plot from the movie The Water Boy as Dick Vermil special green playbook is running thin, What will Martz do now?
