Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted September 30, 2002 Presidio Med Presidio Med is a CBS series, so it is in the PG category. Generally those kind of washed-down shows bore me, but episode 2 was pretty good. The only problem would be the estrogen to testosterone ratio. There are 2 male characters and about 5 women. That of course means that there will be lots of those pesky female problems. We already had a ovarian cancer storyline. Besides that though, the show demonstrates some promise. It won't ever become the juggernaut that it ER, but it should last for a few decent seasons. MDs MDs is a better show in the sense of character variety and the general plot line. Unlike Presidio Med, MDs does include scenes inside the ER. Presidio is strictly the other hospital departments (thus far). The characters are also much more likeable. The current premise for the show is renegade doctors that will do anything to save lives vs. the evil HMO and management who will do anything to save money. Definetly more interesting than the other show. ER The first half hour of episode 09X01 was excellent. The evacuation and Dr. Romano losing his arm were both compelling storylines. Probably more so for me because I LOVE Dr. Romano. Watching his recovery and physical therapy should add an interesting dynamic to the show. Sadly, the second half of the episode included them jumping days. We went from Day 1 to Day 7 to Day 12 and Day 14. Obviously after the initial day was over, everything else was just the quarantined doctors waiting around in an empty hospital. Either way, the preview for next week's show was entertaining, so maybe Season 9 will not be the horrible season that people are predicting it to be, with the loss of Anthony Edwards and Eriq LaSalle. Hopefully the new characters will pump new life into the series and this will be a rebuilding season.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted September 30, 2002 PM and MD's automatically cancel each other out since they are on the same time. Neither show is that great IMO either.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted September 30, 2002 "The first half hour of episode 09X01 was excellent. The evacuation and Dr. Romano losing his arm were both compelling storylines." Agreed. My jaw dropped when his arm got sliced. Did he lose feeling in the hand at the end, or is it still up in the air? "Probably more so for me because I LOVE Dr. Romano." The sad thing I'm mark for him, too. The only other people I remotely care about are Frank, Gallant and to some extent Lucca (sp). Everyone else I could care less what happens to them... Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted September 30, 2002 How did he lose his arm again? I only heard about it. Helicopter, or was the person who told me about it on something? Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted September 30, 2002 Romano lost his arm during an airlift attempt. He was arguing with Luka and Susan that it should be his patient who takes the first helicopter. He accidentally drops his chart. He bends down to get it and on the way up the tail rotator on the copter slices his arm off above the elbow. Towards the end of the episode it is still unknown whether or not he will regain feeling, although he is overly pessimisstic about it while talking to Kerry. In the preview for next week, you see Romano doing physical therapy, or something along those lines.
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted September 30, 2002 I don't watch the show, I just found it hilarious that someone could possibly lose their arm by way of helicopter. Thanks for the information. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted September 30, 2002 It was really nasty the first time I saw. They did this slow-mo to fast-forward thing. Then they zoomed in on the arm laying on the roof for awhile too. Nasty stuff. After watching it a second time, it wasn't as bad.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted September 30, 2002 Another nice touch was the puke (at least that's what I think it was) all over the place...
