(America) XPW owner Rob Black to feed small dog to a snake and how you can contact Animal Control to shut him down

Normally I don't comment on the American wrestling business much on this web site, but for this one time - I think the cause is justifiable.

Just when you thought the crazy antics of XPW owner Rob Black were subsiding, the following will make you question why he isn't in a mental institution:

http://www.extremeassociates.com/webmaster/doggie2/

After reading this, I think even I was shocked at the fact that this man is trying to torture this animal. There are animal abuse laws in effect in the state of California, and unless someone like you can notify authorities, his behavior will continue.

You can put a stop to this behavior by contacting Animal Control in North Hollywood at:

(818) 756-8445 and/or (818) 756-8446

City of Los Angeles

East Valley Animal Care and Control Center

13131 Sherman Way

North Hollywood, CA. 91605

If Black has his way, this dog will be a snake's meal by Friday. That gives you two days to shut his guy's abusive practices down.

Like to give the administrative contact of Rob Black's web site a message?

Administrative Contact, Technical Contact, Billing Contact:

Robert Zicari

16140 Leadwell Street

Van Nuys, CA. 91406

(818) 779-6479

Information above attained from a "WHOIS" public search at Network Solutions (netsol.com).

I'd be surprised if they actually went through with it, or ever really intended to do it.  My confidence in XPW's abilities to keep its own promises are so low that I think either one of two things will happen: "the dog was rescued at the last minute", or else they'll just drop it and develop amnesia about it.

What's worse: feeding a dog to a snake and selling the videotape, or claiming that you're going to do it and then ripping off the sickos that comprise your fanbase?

Just to play devil's advocate:

How is this any different from fattening up a rat to feed it to a snake?  Or a mouse?

Honestly, I think this is cruel and sick, but that's more an effect of North American society than anything else.  In the Far East this is probably commonplace.

There was a story on the radio this afternoon about animal abuse, involving several kittens who had been decapitated.  "In cases such as this," opined the reporter, "it's common for the animals to suffer permanent damage to the central nervous system."

"How is this any different from fattening up a rat to feed it to a snake?  Or a mouse?"

I was wondering the same thing, myself.  People got up in arms over it because it's a puppy.  No one goes, "Awwwww..." when they see a rat or mouse.  "Cute" animals seem to be defended more staunchly than their less attractive kin.

For the record, I don't condone what Black is claiming to do (I think this is a publicity stunt, really), but people feed small live animals to their pet snakes all the time.  Black's obviously good at button-pushing, since his stunt seems to have riled so many people up.

I don't think it's different at all, and I don't like it when rodents are fed while still alive to pet snakes. At least in the wild the prey has a chance to escape...

Speaking for myself ... I like rats and mice. Hell, I like all animals. That's why I would never own anything that had to eat anything else live. Even fish or mealworms. I'd be cool with somebody feeding dead things to 'em, unless they were tortured, but I wouldn't be able to do it myself. In most cases.

Heck, I don't watch a lot of Discovery Channel because it's always been unsettling for me to see a bunch of wolves mangle a caribou or something.

Also, fact is that puppies are more mentally and emotionally developed than rats. That's probably big reason for the outcry, too.

Black's obviously good at button-pushing, since his stunt seems to have riled so many people up.

Er, how can you not be good at button-pushing?

Would it be that hard for someone here to start peppering their thoughts and opinions with comments like, "I don't think Albert really deserves a push ... I heard he might be a kike."

Any moron with a forum can upset a lot of people if that's their aim. Who doesn't know that they'll piss off a lot of people by talking about how this pedophile shouldn't be put in jail because it's the brat's fault they didn't watch out for strangers?

Rob Black is inhuman.

It's not just the fact that it's a puppy, it's the fact that the piece of shit is broadcasting it over an internet pay-site, his plan is to kill a living being for entertainment and profit.  If there were a mouse or rat in my house I would kill it instantly, but it would sicken me if someone were to film that and try to turn a profit from the tape.

"Also, fact is that puppies are more mentally and emotionally developed than rats. That's probably big reason for the outcry, too."

No, it's the cute factor.  Rats, mice, cats, dogs... to use a euphamism my former girlfriend would beat me about the head for using, they're all dumb animals.  Puppies are cute, and dogs seem to like us, so everyone gets attached to them.  Really, feeding a puppy to a snake isn't any different than feeding a rat, except for the inherent shock value.

"Er, how can you not be good at button-pushing?"

Some people just aren't.  I know a few who can't seem to do it for whatever reason.  Black's in the promotion business, though, and regardless of your opinion of what it is he promotes, he obviously knows how to get people to pay attention.  Since it seems his "plan" was nothing of the sort, it was obviously just an exercise in button-pushing.

I hope everyone who called Black a moron, then turned around and got riled up and tweaked by his button-pushing realizes they got worked like a pack of rubes at an old circus.

"Rob Black is inhuman."

I agree, but for different reasons.

So you can say all of these people called PETA and the LAPD just because the dog was cute? I'd also say it's because what he was doing was dripping with sadism. And if it's no different other than the fact that dogs are attached to us, do you think no one would complain if he wanted to chain up a lion, asphyxiate it and cut it to pieces all so his pet hyenas could have something to nosh on? And he intended to film the whole thing so people could get off on it at his website?

Why did he want to feed it a puppy instead of a rat? Because he wanted to "work us like rubes"? Okay, I'll get to that in a second.

Some people just aren't [good at pushing buttons].  I know a few who can't seem to do it for whatever reason.

Why are you trying to give him credit for getting a group of people angry? It's not hard to do at all.

Unless someone had severe mental handicaps, I think they can push buttons. If you told these people you kow to go into a synagogue to upset and offend everyone there, do you honestly think they couldn't? All they'd have to do is paint swastikas on their bodies and go and yell about how they wish Hitler would've finished the job.

How couldn't someone come up with something like that? Of course, provided that they wanted to do it and had no fear of any repercussions that might occur.

Black's in the promotion business, though, and regardless of your opinion of what it is he promotes, he obviously knows how to get people to pay attention.

Then more people would know what XPW is. And they would have a larger fanbase than they do.

Since it seems his 'plan' was nothing of the sort, it was obviously just an exercise in button-pushing.

Yeah ... "obviously." Maybe to you, but to other people it's "obvious" that Rob Black is an immature deviant who wants to do whatever he feels like doing, yet isn't ready to accept the consequences that might stem his actions.

I hope everyone who called Black a moron, then turned around and got riled up and tweaked by his button-pushing realizes they got worked like a pack of rubes at an old circus.

How do you know he wasn't planning on feeding the dog to the snake and only said he "worked" everyone when the cops got wind of it? What would be the point of that? If it was an angle, why wasn't it on the XPW website?

Oh, and just out of curiosity ... how old are you?

"So you can say all of these people called PETA and the LAPD just because the dog was cute?"

If I wanted to feed a rat to my snake, and I even announced my intentions on the net and did all the stuff Black did, do you really think there would have been as big a fuss?  It's a *puppy*.  People love puppies because they're cute and cuddly, while people hate rats because they're disease carriers.

"... do you think no one would complain if he wanted to chain up a lion, asphyxiate it and cut it to pieces all so his pet hyenas could have something to nosh on?"

That's drastically different,  Snakes consume small animals all the time; it's part of the natural order.  Deiberately strangling a captive lion, slicing it up, and feeding it to hyenas isn't even in the same ballpark.

Since it's somehow ambiguous to you, I by no means approve of what Black was purporting to do.  I just think people got all up in arms because a puppy was involved.

"Why are you trying to give him credit for getting a group of people angry?"

I'm not.  I'm simply saying he pushed their buttons.  Or more precisely, people allowed their buttons to be pushed very easily.

"If you told these people you kow to go into a synagogue to upset and offend everyone there, do you honestly think they couldn't?"

You have to *want* to push buttons to be any good at it.  Basically, you have to be something of a shit-stirrer to begin with, and not everyone likes to do that.

"Then more people would know what XPW is. And they would have a larger fanbase than they do."

I promise that a lot more people know what XPW is now than when this whole fiasco started.  As for their fanbase, maybe that hasn't grown because their product is simply not appealing to more than a niche audience.  ECW captured lightning in a bottle, but a lot of things are very different now, and it's unreasonable to expect someone else to do it again.  Besides, Black is in this for porn and to get off on promotional stunts, whereas Paul Heyman really wanted to promote a wrestling business.

"Maybe to you, but to other people it's "obvious" that Rob Black is an immature deviant who wants to do whatever he feels like doing, yet isn't ready to accept the consequences that might stem his actions."

That's obvious to me, too.  I don't approve of anything he claimed he was going to do, or the methods he used to set it up.  Where we differ on this whole issue is out interpretation of the objectors' motivations, and Black's sincerity in the whole mess.

"How do you know he wasn't planning on feeding the dog to the snake and only said he "worked" everyone when the cops got wind of it?"

How do you know he *was?*  Since proving a negative is a logical impossibility, why don't you prove that Black really was going to go thru with his plan?  Really, we'll never know what he was going to do, but the whole thing reeked of a cheap publicity stunt from the beginning.  From the bad promotional writing Cubano pasted into his column to Black's terrible attempts at invective, the whole thing looked like a work.  That's another reason I didn't get as riled up about it as most people did: I saw the whole thing as a cheap, shallow (and admittedly sick) publicity stunt, but ultimately just a publicity stunt that was never intended to be carried out.

"Oh, and just out of curiosity ... how old are you?"

Not that's it's relevant to a discussion of a pornagrapher's cheap ploys for attention, but I'm 28.

I'm presuming you'll ask my gender and location next? ;)

"I don't think it's different at all, and I don't like it when rodents are fed while still alive to pet snakes."

Problem is, many snakes won't eat dead bodies.  They'll only consume live prey.

"People love puppies because they're cute and cuddly, while people hate rats because they're disease carriers."

In my time, I have owned dogs, cats, hamsters, mice, and fish.  Let me say that the dogs and cats were WAY ahead of all of the others in terms of intelligence, emotional development, and individual personalities.  The mice and hamsters were all very cute, but were fairly dumb, and all seemed kind of alike.  I quickly got used to the rodents dying; I'm still dreading the death of my oldest kittycat.  Killing a rat and killing a higher mammal are two different things.

Furthermore, I think that Black did indeed intend to really kill the dog.  He had pictures and video of the dog and the snake up on the website.  But when this "attack by the police" occured, there was no evidence whatsoever for it.  The description of the "assault" was clearly the fictional product of someone who's only working knowledge of the police and their methods comes from action movies.  The webmaster claimed to have video of the incident, but never showed it.  My point is, the story of the planned feeding and the evidence for it was very credible and plausible in the beginning before anyone heard about it, but it all quickly got absurd once people started calling PETA and the LAPD.

This was no publicity stunt, because Black then attacked the few people who did talk about it.  Anyone in the entertainment industry knows that the press ignores you if you blast them.  Did anyone else notice how the Torch and Observer sites barely even mentioned it?  And if it was an attention-getter, it failed miserably, because it probably drove off some XPW fans, and certainly gained them no new ones.

"Killing a rat and killing a higher mammal are two different things."

I think the people who raised a ruckus over this thought they were two different things, too.  But I think I've already made my impression of their motivations clear.

"Furthermore, I think that Black did indeed intend to really kill the dog."

And I think he never had any such intention.  People like Black get off on publicity, and on thinking they pulled the wool over people's eyes.

"He had pictures and video of the dog and the snake up on the website."

And a pornographer would never fake a photo, right?

"My point is, the story of the planned feeding and the evidence for it was very credible and plausible in the beginning before anyone heard about it, but it all quickly got absurd once people started calling PETA and the LAPD."

It has to be credible and plausible, or everyone will see it for the ruse that it is.  Every ruse eventually fell apart, and if PETA and the LAPD were in fact breathing down Black's neck, it's not surprising he posted something rather slipshod to try and put an end to the whole mess.

"And if it was an attention-getter, it failed miserably, because it probably drove off some XPW fans, and certainly gained them no new ones."

Certainly?  You sure about that?  I'd like to think it drove some of their fans away, but these are the fans who cheer for silly bloodsport, crazy stuntman shit, and people getting lit on fire.  They're worse than the "vampires" of ECW ever were.  Maybe some of them draw the line at animal cruelty, but if they just like blood and violence, they'd be into watching a snake eat a puppy.  Sure, it's sick, but look at the audience he's catering to.  Look at the audience that would frequent his porn sites.  I guarantee a lot more people have heard of XPW since this brouhaha started.  How many of them become fans, or think Black is just a sick demented fuckhead, we'll never know.  But if this was the publicity stunt I think it was, then I also think Black achieved in stirring up controversy and publicity.
