Guest Army Eye Report post Posted September 30, 2002 1. Kevin Randleman defeated Michiyoshi Ohara by unanimous decision 2. Guy Mezger defeated Norihisa Yamamoto by unanimous decision 3. Anderson Silva defeated Alexander Otsuka by unanimous decision 4. Paulo Filho defeated Akira Shoji by submission (armbar), 2:48 into Round 1 5. Heath Herring defeated Kotchkine Iouri by TKO (knees on the ground), 7:31 into Round 1 6. Mario Sperry defeated Andrei Kopylov by TKO (strikes), 6:02 into Round 1 7. Quinton Jackson defeated Igor Vovchanchyn by verbal submission (broken rib), 7:17 into Round 1 8. Ryan Gracie defeated Shungo Oyama by submission (armbar), 1:37 into Round 1 This was probably the lighest PRIDE card in a while in terms of name value, part of which can be attributable to the Shockwave event happening so close to this one, but there were still a few fights worth looking for. Kevin Randleman's Pride debut and Guy Mezger's comeback took place, and while they both were victorious, the wins were somewhat disappointing, especially in Randleman's case who surely should've been able to finish the tomato can Ohara. Kevin did not do himself any favors, as far as swaying his reputation as a boring fighter, with this performance. The fight which really was attractive was the Igor vs. Rampage fight, and I've heard that it was indeed a very good fight albeit with a disappointing ending (Rampage WAS definitely winning the fight though). A VERY good showing for Jackson, and a sad result for Vovchanchyn who has amazingly (for him) lost two fights in a row.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted September 30, 2002 I am suprised that Igor Vovchanchyn lost, Jackson must be a strong kicker Has Igor improve on his ground game yet or is he still a stand up striker, with no chokes or submissions?
