BMX XXX delayed for PS2?

Sony Procrastinating on XXX?

"While Acclaim is heading into the fall with a hit and a miss (Burnout 2 = hit and Turok = miss), the third big title on PlayStation 2 is BMX XXX, the last of the Z-Axis developed BMX games, and the one that is prepared to turn the videogame industry on its head. With flashing female parts, oodles of sex jokes, and nary a second without the hint of sex, BMX XXX promises to deliver lots of BMX and lots of XXX. Well, technically, while all of the content Acclaim plans to bring isn't actually porn, but it does indeed rattle some folks' cages.

Folks like Sony. While Sony Computer Entertainment America gave Acclaim the go-ahead on concept approval long ago, word has it that Sony won't approve Acclaim's game until certain parts are removed. Such as certain sexual phrases and the full-motion video of a women taking off her clothes at the game's end. To be honest, this is a rumor, and we're not certain how much of it is true (which is why it's here in Off The Record), but what adds strange wrinkles to the mix is that Acclaim has received approvals from Microsoft and Nintendo to deliver BMX XXX to those systems. The only one that's holding out is SCEA. Strange, and hopefully not true. Give that thing an M rating and let those games fly, we say!"

If it's true I find it hilarious that Nintendo would approve a game of this sort before Sony. Grow some balls Sony!

I don't know why it's hard to beleive that Nintendo would pass it first.

They have been trying to shed the kiddy label since the GC arrived.

Since securing Res. Evil and releasing Eternal Darkness didn't work...they may as well bring on the nudity.

Blah, the game will be really crappy since Acclaim seems to think it will sell because "them kids like naked ladies, hyuk."

I hope it bombs, but I know there are plenty of stupid gamers out there.

I also hope it bombs, and I hope that this horrible new generation of "mature" games that feature nothing but smut just goes away. If you want porn, just download some fucking porn. I wish that this so-called revolution of "adult" games would actually feature sophisticated, mature plots and ideas, but no, we just get smut. MGS is a mature game, BMX XXX is immature garbage.

Shouldn't we play it before deciding?

I mean...it's still a bike game with the same engine of the others.

Since no one is forced to play it...I am all for the addition of more variety, whether it be vulgar, crude or whatnot.

There will always be Halos or Marios or Zeldas or Maddens...

A little nudity thrown in to the mix isn't a bad thing as someone will buy it...and anyone offended won't pay 50 bucks for it anyway.

Eh, it's just an industry trend that I don't like. I don't mind the games being out there, but if they do well, then more people make them, and those people make less quality games. Take DOA for example. Now I'm not the biggest DOA fan in the world, but it's a decent fighting franchise. Tecmo could be making a new DOA fighting game, which I'd have interest in, but instead they're making a smutty volleyball game. And if it sells really well, which it probably will, then we're going to see more smut and less fighting. That annoys me.

No offense to anyone who does want to play it, BUT...

...I know there are many who will get it just for the small bit of nudity in it, and to that I ask, WHY!? For one, it's f*cking computer images, and second, it's rather sad if that is the only way one believes they can see nude people.

I just don't see the point in having the game be made in the first place, and as a gamer, I'm rather appauled that it was even given the green light, but hey...

...that's just me.

What do you do when a movie features content that you don't like?

This is the same thing.

There is not now, nor has there ever been, a point to bitching and moaning about something that you aren't forced to partake in.

I'm not bitching about it, I'm sharing my opinion on something. I seriously see no point in a video game like this being released.

I don't really have a problem with this game. I probably won't buy it, but it's not going to have terrible gameplay or anything. It's running on the ZAxis Dave Mirra engine which is the best engine in BMX games. I'm sure that there are people who will buy it because it has real nudity from actual strippers, but also there are people who will buy it because it is going to have good gameplay and some humor, something that most other extreme sports games don't have. I my rent it some time.
