Guest treble charged Report post Posted October 1, 2002 Stolen from TSN.ca: Hockey Night in Canada has a gaping hole to fill following Monday's announcement that host Ron MacLean would not be back after 17 years with CBC Sports. All I have to say is, 'Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!' This is TERRIBLE news. MacLean, IMO, is what makes HNIC entertaining. He's the perfect straight man for Don Cherry, and CBC is going to have a HELL of a time replacing him, especially considering the season starts in 2 weeks. Fuck. My guess is that they'll bring in Brian Williams to host until they can find someone to permanently fill the duties - if they don't give in and resign Maclean. He's done some play by play, mostly in lesser play-off series (He did the Ottawa/Philadelphia first round series last year), plus, he did the women's games at the Olympics.
