Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted October 1, 2002 I don't really follow baseball anymore, but it seems like every couple years the Tigers hire a new manager only to fire him shortly there after. Why not fire the entire team and start over? Seriously...I wish someone would blame the players for sucking instead of the manager for leading the sucky players. Illitch fucked up by making a baseball stadium no one can hit out of... And every here bitched about Juan Gonzalas being a waste in Detroit...that's cause he's a homerun hitter in a monster stadium. FACT...the year Juan hit behind Bobby Higginson, HIgginson hit 30 homers, that's cause they wouldn't walk a man with Juan coming up to bat....take Juan out and Bobby hit half as many next year. This prick does not know how to put a baseball team together...SELL THE TIGERS! You have the Red Wings and Little Ceasers Pizza, what more do you need? I'm just tired...I need sleep
Guest Slingshot Suplex Report post Posted October 1, 2002 Unless Mike Illitch talks Jesus into putting on a Tigers' cap and managing, there will be no miracles in Detroit. No manager is going to make this AAA team into anything close to a division contender. One more fall guy to take the hit when the blame should be higher up the chain in the organization. Guest DrTom Report post Posted October 1, 2002 The Tigers have made a lot of poor personnel decisions that are completely not the fault of their managers. Bobby Higginson got a ridiculous contract, and coming off a year when he hit 10 homers and stole 12 bases, good luck finding another team to take it on. Their debacle at catcher this year was a joke. They have some hope with guys like Omar Infante, Carlos Pena, and Randall Simon (who's an amazing hitter at Comerica), but they need to make good personnel and management choices around those players. Their ballpark isn't the problem. They could build a team to take advantage of it and be fine, but that would require intelligence and foresight, two categories the Tigers have been woefully lacking in recently. Guest starvenger Report post Posted October 1, 2002 This prick does not know how to put a baseball team together...SELL THE TIGERS! You have the Red Wings and Little Ceasers Pizza, what more do you need? He needs the satisfaction of feeling that he, Mike Ilitch, almost singlehandedly revitalized downtown Detroit. Besides which, he's not running the Tigers - I think his daughter is. Mike is more concerned with more important things, like the city and Stanley Cups. Guest Will Scarlet Report post Posted October 1, 2002 Well, I really do not mind them getting rid of Pujols, as, from what I have read, he was just not cut out to be a manager. Of course, with this team, no one else will do much better, so it really does not matter.
Guest alkeiper Report post Posted October 1, 2002 Bring back Cecil Fielder!!! Prince Fielder is currently in the Brewers minor league organization. From all accounts he inherited his father's pants size. The Tigers got a good GM this year in Dave Drombowski, but given the organization he inherited, its going to take a while to turn things around.
