Guest starvenger Report post Posted October 1, 2002 Yes, I'm back, compiling bits of news and crap for YOUR online pleasure. Right off the top, check out Newsarama's coverage of the Neil Gaiman vs. Todd McFarlane trial... WTF?! of the week: Paying Don Cherry $700K(CDN) to idiotically rant for 5 minutes every Saturday, yet not paying $600K(CDN) to retain the services of Ron Maclean, arguably the best sports host in Canada. On the bright(?) side, a poll on WayMoreSports.com has indicated that a lot of people would like to see MushMusic/CityTV "celebrity" Ed the Sock replace him. I'm not entirely sure whether this is a good or bad thing... Song of the Week: "Superman's Dead" by Our Lady Peace. Because WB execs are Russo-level idiots for thinking that they know what we want to see in a Superman movie. Comics DC/Wildstorm/Vertigo - Batman #608, the first issue featuring the Jeph Loeb/Jim Lee creative team, hit number one for initial orders from Diamond, which is probably the first DC comic to do so since the Knightfall/Death of Superman era. - Artists Tom Raney and Pascual Ferry have gone exclusive with DC. Regarding Ferry, I have this to say: who? (Comics Continuum) - Here's a look at Aquaman's new look courtesy of artist Yvel Guichet. (Newsarama) Others - CrossGen owns Lady Death's ass(ets). Newsarama has an interview with Mark Alessi to find out exactly how all this happened. Television - WB will hopefully continue its streak of quality DC cartoons with Teen Titans. Glen Murakami is the lead creator for the series. Yeah, I have no idea who he is either. (Newsarama) - The Simpson's 13th(!) Treehous of Horror airs on Nov 3. (Comic Continuum) - Jeph Loeb wrote the Oct 15 episode of Smallville, which features red kryptonite, which should pretty much put it on your "pass" list, if it isn't already. Loeb should really know better than to use crap plot devices like the coloured kruptonite... (Comics Continuum) Movies - The Black Bull series Beautiful Killer is being developed as a "live action vehicle" for Jessica Alba. I have mixed feelings about this, because Alba is hot, but Gareb Shamus must not succeed where the Rob Liefelds of the world have failed. Or something to that effect. (Newsarama) - Once again, I recommend checking out Coming Attractions for the continuing saga of the (now confirmed) Superman movie. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll hurl... - Speaking of hurling, a new trailer for Daredevil will hit theatres on Nov 1. (Comics Continuum) - Alan Cumming on Nightcrawler in X2: "He's blue. He's got pointy ears. He's got yellow eyes. He's got hooves. And a tail. The only thing that is different is that he doesn't have the same pecs or he doesn't the washboard stomach like he has the comic. He has my stomach." (Comics Continuum) - And here's a picture. No, he's not the missing Czech brother, he's a gypsy. They allegedly dress like that. Coming Attractions has some more news for you on X2 - Constantine Valhouli has created a documentary film called Sex, Lies, and Superheroes, which will be released this winter. Check out Newsarama for the scoop. That's it for this week. Places I normally get this shit from: C.H.U.D., Comics Continuum, Dark Horizons, IGN Filmforce, Movie Poop Shoot, Newsarama, Pulse, theForce.net Recommended review sites Movie Poop Shoot's Title Bout appears every Wednesday. Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted October 4, 2002 Shamus is a toad and a weasel. Just another waste of space fanboy who is jocking the industry and peddling his egocentric shit through Wizard. I would not shed a tear if Wizard went out of business due to all the crap they have spewed over the years. It's like reading Pro Wrestling Illustrated nowadays. It served its use when the other outlets for news and info were few and far. But now with the internet around, Wizard is becoming more obsolete and the mind numbing and kiss ass articles and interviews that they have been doing more of over the last 6 or so years is just downright nauseating. Guest starvenger Report post Posted October 4, 2002 That's pretty much my feelings on it. The only thing that I really enjoy from Wizard Press is Twisted Meg-er, Toyfare Theatre.
Guest danielisthor Report post Posted October 4, 2002 That's pretty much my feelings on it. The only thing that I really enjoy from Wizard Press is Twisted Meg-er, Toyfare Theatre. Truthfully i haven't picked up a Wizard in like 4 years. I found no real use for it anymore, anything and everything i want to know about i can find online and generally more reliable.
