Guest Anglesault Report post Posted October 2, 2002 Anyone that is booked to hit themselves in the head with a chair is booked to look like an incompetant boob. Like it or not, Angle is a Comedy Character. And comedy characters are useless. Either do somethign with him, or just let him go. They are wasting him. Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted October 2, 2002 So, would you rather have him just be Intense like Triple H & Brock or be a coward Heel? Or a Bland Babyface again?
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted October 2, 2002 Yes, have him be like HHH or Brock. This idiot character is why he's not taken seriously.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Report post Posted October 2, 2002 The guy has jobbed to Edge and looked like a bitch six ways from Sunday. But Angle still manages to be more over than half of the wrestlers being pushed. That is why he is YOUR Olympic Hero.
Guest Quik Report post Posted October 2, 2002 So now each brand has a world title and a tag title. Yay. No midcard belt. No semi-push. Now all feuds are meaningless except for the world titles.
Guest Harry Hood Report post Posted October 2, 2002 I thought the hit yourself in the head with a chair was copyrighted by Rocky...it seems he always does it...
Guest Brian Report post Posted October 2, 2002 You don't need belts to make feuds meaningful; take Bret/Austin for one.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted October 2, 2002 You do when the feud is over somthing like shampoo commercial or spilling coffee, or, to keep things current, being called a dork.
Guest Brian Report post Posted October 2, 2002 Still, good booking eliminates the need for belts to create feuds.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted October 2, 2002 Why in the world did Brock Lesnar come down to the ring and F5 Angle and Benoit when he has nothing to do with them? Did that make no sense to anybody else? "Guys it's been 15 minutes since Brock's been put over" "Well, he's feuding with the Undertaker so have Brock jump him backstage" "..........Are You kidding?! Undertaker has already put Brock over once during this show. Have him attack someone who we have no plans for!" "Well, Angle and Benoit are having this uncontrollable brawl in the ring....." "Perfect! Send Brock out for a round of pointless F5s"
Guest Brian Report post Posted October 2, 2002 Who knows, but it was after the show so it doesn't really matter. Probably testing a face turn.
Guest deadbeater Report post Posted October 3, 2002 NO! They are DOOM 2002! And what was wrong with DOOM? What just because they don't play the Southern tag game but the Austin tag game instead? Kick ass is what they were all about. Get Theodore R Long as manager, stack!!
Guest BaldFish Report post Posted October 3, 2002 So now each brand has a world title and a tag title. Yay. No midcard belt. No semi-push. Now all feuds are meaningless except for the world titles. How long before the CW title gets integrated into the SmackDown! championship? It's not like WWE has any long-term plans for it or anything.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted October 3, 2002 So DVon goes into Butch Reed more? unnaturally dye his hair blonde to be the Natural DVon Dudley... As long as he loses the Semi Not Over Religious collar crap.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted October 3, 2002 My thoughts on D-Von teaming with Faarooq: We predicted something like that when the split first ended the teams of the Acolytes and the Dudley Boyz. However, why now? And why after a fued was teased a while ago between D-Von and Faarooq are they suddenly teaming up? Will they offer an explanation for it? However, it could be a decent pairing--although WHAT DO THEY HAVE IN COMMON THAT THEY SHOULD BE TEAMING--er, other than that? This kinda reminds me when K-Kwik would work mixed tag matches with Jackie for no other reason than, presumably, they are the same race. Nothing wrong with that, as it seems this could be long term, although I somewhat miss the poetic racial harmony exhibited by the Acolytes and the Dudley Boyz. We had a team of the weathered, wise and worldly Faarooq, a talented power wrestler, and the pretty much worthless Wanna-be-Stan-Henson Hungers-for-rookie-ass Bradshaw--the two of them united with a common love for beer and card games, and perhaps for Pulp Fiction. The Dudleyz had a similar situation, with apparently none of their shared father's pigment expressing itself in the dark-skinned D-Von, which may have posed a problem growing up in Dudleyville, which I suppose must be SOMEWHERE south of the Mason-Dixon. Yet, the brothers from different mothers overcame that to become tag team champions of the world. Although, on the flipside, a Bubba Ray/Bradshaw team would really, really, REALLY suck. Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted October 3, 2002 The show was pretty fun live, and Brock got plenty of face heat in the end. He just kind of raised his title in the air with a grimacing look on his face and kept showing it off. I really like the guy. Angle and Edge cut an excellent promo on eachother and it had continuity to it, so that's a plus. Great match and finish, but the main problem I saw with the show was Angle and Benoit getting it on after the show went off the air for a good 15 minutes when they were just told that if they touch eachother again they will be suspended. Oh and Fit Finlay got involved a lot in breaking up Angle/Benoit. Classic moment right there.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted October 3, 2002 A couple of my thoughts: Smackdown was taped in Lafayette, Louisianna on Tuesday. Today (Thursday), they are getting pounded by a Category 4 Hurricane Lily.... The Smackdown Tag Titles look cool, they are gold with blue lettering. Benoit vs Mysterio was billed as the first time anywhere the two faced each other, but is that really true? (WCW??) The match was awesome as well.. Angle vs Edge was the single best match I've seen on Smackdown since..last week's Edge vs Eddy match. Awesome match, even with the Ref bump and the Restart with the match going on durring the commercial break. Edge seems to be having a ton of good matches on Smackdown.. RAW had 2 or 3 Advertisements on Smackdown for Raw Roulette in Las Vegas... Torrie's bikini was skin colored.. Smackdown had 2 REALLY AWESOME matches (Angle Edge, Mysterio Benoit) but all the other matches were pretty terrible.
Guest El Psycho Diablo Report post Posted October 3, 2002 Angle/Benoit are a tag team now? Great. Wacky partners who hate each other hijinx. Guess we know who the tag champs are going to be. ¬.¬
Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted October 3, 2002 Torrie's bikini was excellent. Angle/Edge was good, but you could tell there was a commercial break because of an abdominal stretch followed by a sitting bearhug. It dragged there, but everything else was good. The promo before hand was great. The weather was perfect on the day of the tapings. The tag titles looked A LOT like the current WWE ones, with blue lettering. Benoit and Rey was probably billed as first time ever because it was their first meeting in the WWE. Match was good especially with Benoit's headbut across the ring, but the heat was not there. They'll fix that. I loved the show.
Guest El Psycho Diablo Report post Posted October 3, 2002 How was the heat for Angle/Edge, out of curiousity? Same for Benoit/Rey's respective entrances?
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted October 3, 2002 Oh yeah, and the F5 that Taker took, he took in on some large bags of what looked to be popcorn or yellow styrofoam.. EDIT: And Billy called Faaroq by his real name, Ron Simmons.. EDIT #2: From what I saw and heard, the crowd was WAY into just about every bit of the Edge Angle match except the first pinfall and when they came back from the break. The Mysterio Benoit match, the crowd lulled but towards the end they went nuts.
Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted October 3, 2002 Ok. Hardy/Taker was a steaming pile of shit. They went right to the back and you know how that goes. Nothing stiff or even watchable. Yes Brock F-5'ed Taker into big peanut filled bags, it was pathetic. Rey's entrance got a lot of heat as did the whole Edge/Angle match. No pyro for Angle (?) and Benoit was heatless, well except for me jumping up and down like a little bitch. People around me cheered so hard for Henry and Rikishi during the match and boy did they hate me when I'd go nuts for Eddy. It was my first time seeing him live and he is just oozing charisma. He held the crowd in his hands. I'm glad I got to see him especially in this stage of his career when he's working so damned hard. He really is a class act in the ring. Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted October 3, 2002 What's the point of doing a restarted match, if they're just going to put the same guy over again? Shouldn't it be: wrestler A goes over (usually heel, by cheating), match is restarted, then wrestler B (usually face) gets the win? I fail to see the logic in Edge wins clean -> restart -> Edge wins clean again
Guest nikowwf Report post Posted October 3, 2002 i thought it was ANGLE CHEATED AND WON ref is out then RESTART. niko
Guest Dale Newstead Report post Posted October 3, 2002 I agree with the booking of Smackdown, they further push Edge (who whether you like him or not is hella over and IMO a dynamite worker) and Taker vs. Brock in HIAC will work. Brock is decent in the ring and will on get better, Taker has his odd good match and in this situation I'm sure they will deliver.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted October 3, 2002 i thought it was ANGLE CHEATED AND WON ref is out then RESTART. niko From page 1: Angle hit a top rope superplex which Edge rolled through to get the pin. The two referees got into a shoving match over the finish. It is decided that the match will be restarted. Benoit comes out to watch. Angle inadvertantly hits himself with a chair trying to hit Benoit (it bounced off the ropes). Edge gets the easy pin with a spear
Guest Brian Report post Posted October 3, 2002 It's really unclear, it sounds almost liek both guys won from the referee arguing.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted October 3, 2002 Hopefully that is the case.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted October 3, 2002 Nah, Edge probably beat Angle clean twice. This seems to be another attempt to bury Angle and benoit week
