Guest WrestlingDeacon Report post Posted October 6, 2002 In case you didn't know, Paint you Wagon is a real musical starring Clint Eastwood and Lee Marvin and it's about as bad as you think it is. Busby Berkely stuff is ok, but Fox's "put on a show" musicals with Carmen Miranda at random ski resorts are atrocious. White Christmas is another musical built around broadway performers who sing and dance for the hell of it, because that's what they do. A musical is just a specific type of artform. You either get it and like it or you don't. It's not any different for Gene Kelly to break out in song and dance on a battleship than it is for Captain Kirk to whip out a phaser and kill an alien. It's simply the world of the film. My favorite musicals would be Finian's Rainbow, White Christmas, The Music Man, My Fair Lady, An American in Paris, Singing in the Rain and Viva Las Vegas (and I can sit through all Elvis movies, mostly for the so bad they're good quality, but Viva Las Vegas is actually pretty decent)
