Guest art_vandelay Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 Okay, so now it's the Harlem Sidekick, which I think by the way, is totally shit since he's been doing it for 10 years as a regular move but now it suddenly finishes people, and also because they haven't made a WWF name for it yet. But what about his other finishers? The Bookend we've only seen executed during his feud with The Rock. It's been teased here and there, but never used. The Harlem Hangover; he hasn't used this move in a long time, the last time we saw anything close to it was when he did a ground version (somersault legdrop) to finish off The Big Show after 3 axe-kicks didn't do the job. So forget about this one, it's gone. The Axe-kick was pretty cool, but with the size of the WWF ring and Booker having to back up more to bounce off the ropes; the opponent has to stay doubled over for a good amount of time, therefore making it the move look very hokey. And that leaves only one more move which may save his in ring credibility: The Spineroonie. I think if Booker T practices a bit more, he can get up to 2 complete rotations, maybe even more. When he debuts this Super Spineroonie, the force will wipe out millions of villages and shatter the richter scale while releasing tumor-inducing radiation, making him Undisputed Champ.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 well there's the missle dropkick i geuss
Guest saturnmark4life Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 I'm not sure I agree with you on the axe kick, but there had to be a reason to switch to the sidekick i guess. It is stupid cos he usually does t midmatch anyways as well as a finisher. Course, he's been buried now so he ever needs to worry about putting away the godfather or rikishi.

He does need something new. The missile dropkick isn't believable as a finisher anymore, and I'm guessing he doesn't do it because of his knees. I don't know what he could use though.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 He could always use a DDT variation...those seem to be popular...
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 "The missile dropkick isn't believable as a finisher anymore, and I'm guessing he doesn't do it because of his knees. I don't know what he could use though" Same thing for the Harlem Hangover. The Spinaroonie would be interesting if while he's going through the rotations, he actually kicks someone in the head. It would at least make sense. Actually, the spinaroonie used to be done much more naturally after he was knocked down. Not this melodramatic crap he does now. The axe kick could be used without bouncing off the ropes. Sometimes, it's as unbelievable as the WORM waiting for him to execute the damn thing. possibly an STO or another move not being used currently by WWF stars.
Guest Tony149 Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 Booker T doesn't do the Harlem Hangover any more due to the impact it causes his back.
Guest Human Fly Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 Too bad he can't use the Harlem Hangover anymore, I loved that move. Is it really bad that he doesn't have a main finishing move though, he can bust out with a few moves that have put guys away before. I've always thought that heels haven't needed a finishing move as much as faces since so many of their finishes come from one move behind the refs back after his opponent is his distraction. Lets say Booker is fighting RVD. RVD is about to finish him off and then (let's say Test0 distracts RVD. When RVD finally turns around Booker nails him with the side kick for the pin. It's out of nowhere and high impact, so it works for me.
Guest TheDames7 Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 I was going to say some sort of submission, but those are pretty useless against main event faces, so thats out. He's not the submission type anyway, since he is so high impact. I'd say let him keep the Book End, because Rhyno and Edge share the spear, and a few others share the same kind of finisher, but I don't think that would go over so well. I would have to say some sort of suplex variation that no one is using. Dames
Guest Imarkout4chrisdaniels Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 One maneuver that was left off the list was the "110th Street Slam," which he used some during his first run as a singles in WCW. I remember Schiavone shoving it down our throats that Booker was going to debut the move during a match. He never did in that match. The next week, however, he did the move as a setup for the Harlem Sidekick. The move was a hanging spinebuster, very similar to the new move Hardcore Holly was using before he left for surgery. What distinguished Booker's version was that on impact, he held on and balanced his feet in the air, giving him good leverage for the pin. He used it to finish off a slew of matches for awhile. In the WWF, he has used that move several times, but I don't think he has pinned anyone with it. And, he does not balance his legs in the air for a pin either. Maybe he could go back to doing that???
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 I was gonna mention that but didn't bother because Austin uses a similar move as a transitional move. Hell, Masato Tanaka isn't in the WWF, let him do the Diamond Dust into the Spinaroonie. That would work.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 Booker T has a feet based offense... Why doesn't JR ever mention Booker's educated feet? Is it because he's black?
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 yes bps21 sadly good ol' jr is a member of the good ol' boy network too and is bent on holding down anywone who isn't white, a hose, or steve austin. i liked the 110th street slam but how about a Death Valley Driver of some sort?
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 it is a little off topic but speaking of Booker's offense, it used to be so diversified. he even won matches with his flying forearm off the ropes. Has the WWF dumbed down his offense or what? I mean Christ, he needs a face turn quick because his slow methodical heel work is killing his workrate.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 all he does is his kicks he's became a one move wrestler kinda like dare i say it... x-pac
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 dude, do not compare booker to x-pac. In all fairness, I think his last 10 matches have been a combined 3 minutes, The WWF isn't exactly giving him time to showcase his talents.
Guest TheDames7 Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 Have you guys noticed that most of Christian's moves start in a reverse DDT position? That bugs the hell out of me. Dames
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 have you noticed tht even though edge is the one feuding for the ic tittle we still talk about christian more?
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 have you noticed that this is a booker t thread yet we bring up christian and edge. that reeks of awesomeness.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 BRING BACK E AND C!!!!! We're going to do some commentary and thean we'll probaly do a run-in. run-ins totally reek of awesomeness!!!- E&C
Guest TheDames7 Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 I dunno....Edge just does nothing for me. I always liked Christian more because when they were teaming, I felt he had the better finisher and better mic skills. Edge's offense is piss poor to me. 2 out of his now 4 finishers are done better by others (Spear and Implant DDT), the Edge O'Matic does nothing these days, and his new submission will be the next move that everyone will be repelling to the ropes to. Dames
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 i miss the downward spiral. i dunno dames i enjoyed them equally, they just meshed as a team.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 I am convinced that if Christian would have won KOTR and gotten the Edge push...he would be one of the most over heels in the company (like Jericho in WCW). He would prove to be the perfect foil for RVD's popularity. The 2 of them could have had a Rock/HHH...Benoit/Jericho esque elavation feud
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 i agree, i was totally pulling for christian dude, he deserved the KOTR victory, but i was just pissed at the time that they were breaking up, i loved E&C so much.
Guest TheDames7 Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 What do you think of this scenario....this is what I wanted in the KOTR'01 tourney. Christian - Angle - Christian goes over after Shane's interference. Edge - Rhyno, keep the same. Christian -Edge finals.....Christian goes over in a heel like manner....feet on the ropes or something, but Edge, being his brother forgives him. Edge wins the IC title from Storm at SummerSlam still, while Christian jobs to someone on the same card. Christian then turns on Edge in the same way, because even though he was KOTR, Edge is the one with the real success. What do you think? Dames
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 the WWF really booked themselves in a corner by putting four heels in the final. your scenario is sound but it wouldn't have affected the dead crowd or the heel-face lines.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 i like the idea but goodhelmet is right the wwf booked themselves between a rock and a had place.
Guest TheDames7 Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 I agree with you goodhelmet, but the buildup towards the KOTR with E&C showed a Christian that looked like he really would turn on Edge for the KOTR title....he was more of a heel in that situation, so Edge probably would have been a defacto face in that match. Dames
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 that's true edge was definalty being played up as the face in the KOTR build-up, but ehat if the man-beast rhyno had won? would he have GORED his way to the IC tittle or would he have billy gunned the KOTR win.(thank you Edge for that great shoot comment that wasn't meant to be a shoot comment.)
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 but then what about Angle. You still have two heels who work a dead match with no reason to believe either could be a face.
