Guest mach7 Posted October 2, 2002 Report Posted October 2, 2002 Besides this "Crush Hour" crap, has anyone heard of any wrestling games coming from WWE for the GameCube in the immediate future? With the release of SmackDown SYM on PS2, you'd think that THQ would have something in the works... Anyone?
Guest jimmy no nose Posted October 2, 2002 Report Posted October 2, 2002 They havent announced anything for Gamecube yet. There is Smackdown 4 for PS2 in November, Raw 2 for Xbox in March, nothing official for Gamecube.
Guest Olympic Slam Posted October 2, 2002 Report Posted October 2, 2002 It's a bit early for news on the next GC WWE game, especially because X-8 was such an overwhelming disaster. I hear that a Fire-Pro wrestling game is in the works for GC. Haven't played Fire-Pro of any kind but I hear very good things about.
Guest RenegadeX28 Posted October 2, 2002 Report Posted October 2, 2002 Well, supposedly, they have started work on WMX9. They need to make MAJOR IMPROVEMENTS TO IT. I am looking forward for Fire Pro.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted October 3, 2002 Report Posted October 3, 2002 All they need to do is add a career/story mode and go back to No Mercy control scheme and It would be a good game.
Guest mach7 Posted October 3, 2002 Report Posted October 3, 2002 Fire Pro was an awesome series! I wish I had a chance to play the Dream Cast version, as I heard it was the bomb! I own the Saturn (6 Man Scramble) and PSX (G Dome) versions and both kick pretty serious ass. Though, the Saturn one does own because it lets you have six man tag matches. Here's hoping that the guys who are porting it to GameCube do a good job & KEEP THE 2D ASPECT of it!

Well, giving any wrestling game the No Mercy controls would make it good, but for some reason it doesn't happen.
Guest mach7 Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 I actually don't mind the X8 controls. It's just that there's too few move combinations and sometimes wrestlers get up too fast. I think that they could have made way better use of all the GC controller buttons. Like, you can't even smash a guy into the cage in a normal cage match... or you can't do duck-down/leapfrog moves when your opponent is running at you. Just so many possibilities... but they messed up. Here's hoping that the next game has improved use of the buttons.

I think it suffers from Mario Syndrome, as in "That controller was made for Mario and almost nothing else." There's four buttons on the right side, just like with the other two consoles, but they're all positioned around that great big green button, so almost everything has to revolve around that green button, with the other buttons as secondary "push me to do something else" buttons.
