Well on the bright side: it means Lynn/Styles can continue their string of great matches, and now AJ's X-Champion shirt makes sense again! :)

Restart match?

EDIT: Well, it's a good way to get people to tune in I suppose, but it's kinda cheap for those of us who paid for a blowoff THIS week. I wonder if they can pull out another ladder match, it's been used quite a lot.

Well...that's kind of bullshit.

But I'm not going to complain because they gave a good match tonight and can still have the blow off next week.

yeah, true, I don't mind seeing it again, I just hope they can pull out another great ladder match especially since the gimmick has been overused in the promotion. I think AJ should have been able to keep the belt too.

Chris Rock! Head of State! Awesome, I was at an Orioles game a month ago and Chris Rock was there before the game filiming for his movie. We all got to cheer for him, and it said "President Something" on the scoreboard, he threw out the fictional first pitch.

Next week:

Lynn vs. Styles ladder rematch

Jingus is gonna be in a movie.

Lo Ki vs. Kid Kash vs. Ace Steel vs. Tony Mamaluke (what's the deal with this?)

SATs vs. Harris and Storm for tag title

and a bunch of stuff they haven't booked yet.

I agree that AJ should have kept the title.

You can't strip a guy for interference IN A LADDER MATCH.

But like I said...since I order every week anyway, it just means more good for me.

What they should do in the rematch is have the first 10 + minutes be a regular in ring match then move to the ladder for the second half.

hopefully that's what they'll do. The thing is they missed a great oppurtunity for a blowoff. They could have AJ come in as champ, and Lynn finally beat him for the title and the feud. Yeah, I order every week too but I'm starting to be tested.

Wonder what the deal is with Hall not being on the show, must have been planned or something since they are hyping him for next week.

Ladder match was pretty good, solid *** 3/4 match, but the last 5 minutes dragged on, and the finish was bad, be it that there will be a blowoff match next week or not. Maybe they will make up for the mistakes next week.

I think this would be a perfect time to finally do a gimmick match I've never seen but always wanted to.......a ladder cage match. Makes sense because it would keep from interference, which is the story in the first place.

Siaki continues to totally un-impress me. Why do they keep pushing this no talent? He's acting like he's stoned all night.

My theory on Hall is they realized they can't pay him every week. Ladder match was real good besides the crummy ending. Aj shouldn't have had to give back the title. Ladder/cage match would be awesome. They haven't even done a cage match yet. Im not too impressed with Siaki either.

Well that wasn't too bad. It's funny that NWA's main event is WWF's 1998 midcard.

The Good:

AJ vs. Lynn was awesome. The ending was lame and AJ getting stripped of the title makes no sense...but hey...these guys were on fire. And I can't hate any angle, no matter how stupid if it brings me more of that next week.

Lo Ki vs. Truth was very good. I was worried going in...but they went a different way then I figured by starting off with some brutal stuff on the outside, then letting Truth destroy Ki's ribs leading to the eventual win. On one hand, I wanted a longer Ki comeback...but he sold the ribs like he didn't have enough to sustain one...so good for them.

Elvises vs. SATs was a solid little spot fest. I was entertained throughout...so it gets into my good column.

The backstage segment where Siaki and AJ beatdown Lynn. Comedy gold.

The creation of new feuds. Lynn/Siaki has a nice build. People all want the Truth's gold. Pac and Ki have an issue. SATs earn a title shot. Red's push begins now, likely vs. Skipper.

Truth vs. X division is awesome to me, anyway.

The middle:

Siaki vs. Young. I have no positive or negative feelings toward this match.

The main event. As good as what they had could deliver...but why in the world was THIS on last when Truth and Lynn had title defenses. At least the ending wasn't completely over booked like the ladder match. Spanish Fly agter the match was a nice touch.

The Bad:

Red vs. Shark Boy. What happened here? Match was bad...and I don't think it was Red's fault.

Tag title match. Get something new...Ron Harris is broken.

Taking Elix Skipper out of the Main Event. It should probably be for advertising Hall, and having no Hall...but that didn't upset me as much as not getting to see Skipper and Pac go at it.

All in all a decent show. If I were to rate the matches it'd be something like:

Red vs. Sharkboy: 1/2*

Truth vs. Lo Ki: ***1/4

SAT vs. Elvises: *3/4

Siaki vs. David Young: **

Harris/Ozzie vs. Storm/Harris: *

AJ Styles vs. Jerry Lynn: ****1/4

JJ/Lawler vs. Syxx/James: **

So, the good thing was they kept the talking to a minimum at the beginning, there was a lot of wrestling and most of it was good. I didn't like the implied Truth/KKK guy thing at all, Russo is an idiot. And the ladder match should have left AJ as champ going into the rematch next week.

This was the first show that didn't have one of those segments that just make me hate Russo.

They did overbook the Styles/Lynn match...but the lack of these segments earns my forgiveness.

Yeah no stupidity which is great, but Russo still had to get in his stupid controversial storyline with the KKK guy (not even in traditional gear although it was implied) attack the Truth. Mortimer Pedophile got on my nerves too. Otherwise yeah, it was a pretty clean show.

My thoughts:

Amazing Red/Shark Boy wasn't great. Amazing Red looks impresive though.

Low Ki vs Truth was pretty good. Better than I thought it would be.

I like spot matches, so the tag match entertained me. The SATs seem to be a good tag team.

Siaki vs. Young was just kind of there. Ok match.

Tag Title match sucked.

AJ/Lynn was really good. Ending made no sense. Why are they doing a ladder match next week too? Couldn't they just have a normal match or another type of gimmick match? Ladder matches have been done to death.

The Main Event was decent, but the two guys I wanted to see most (Hall and Skipper) were taken out. Why Lawler was kept in and Skipper was taken out is beyond me.

Will I be ordering next week? Probably not, since I'm kind of broke right now. Hopefully I'll be able to watch them for free if they get a TV deal.

After tonight it's obvious what they need to stop on these shows. They apparently have finally stopped the shit with Bruce, so thats one down.

1) Security run-ins, them getting beatdown, and then Don Harris coming in. It's happening too often.

2) More defined feuds. I get tired of seeing a week-to-week transition, basically I'm tired of two week max long programs. Along with that, feuds need true purpose, they need a story too. This is really important on main event levels, with guys like Killings and Jarrett. They need to get guys who were previously on the roster back if need be if thats what it takes. Guys like Monte Brown and Shamrock (or Corino?), for example would work fine against these two in long term solid feuds. Even having Road Dogg against Truth for now would be fine with me, just give it purpose and time to develop into a decent program, thats all. I actually think too for now, they should ix-nay Siakis feud with Lynn and go Lynn-Jarrett.

3) Points of unpredictability. Everything seems so formulmatic and theres more than enough of that in WWE right now. I'm fucking dying to see some new creative and fresh angles from this company and I have yet to see such in months.

4) If you're going to do drawn out promos, give them purpose, and more to just build heat for the main event. Tonight's beginning was a clear example of this. I want more than just back and forth gab, thats just boring. They did this much better with Road Dogg and Truth, and this week it just didn't work. Keep Waltman off the mic, for gods sake!

5) End the show different every week by any means, and try your hardest to be more creative there than in any part of the show. The last moment of the show could be make or break with if someone will tune in again next week. Last weeks ending was alright with the heels beating down the face group because it wasn't done previously. But this week was a complete rehash of last week, with just more babyfaces. If you're going to do something like that over again and again, they should at least have seperated guys who will be feuding soon, and have them brawl around the arena seperately or something (like Red-Skipper, Lawler-Waltman, etc)

They definately have gotten the wrestling part down since everything is well above average in most of those areas more than not. But this is a clear example that just straight wrestling without telling huge stories in the ring (like AJPW) is not going to be the next big thing. There needs to be more than just that for this company to really get my full attention to the point where I even feel they are true competition to WWE. They need solid stories to back up the action, since they obviously aren't going to go out there and work a puro based style (which I don't blame them for because thats a hard demographic of people to reach here in the states)

Only thing I really care about in the company right now is whats up with Plumtree. There should be more considering who they have and what they could be doing with them. On a positive note, at least they are finally establishing heels and faces.

Decent show tonight, though the AJ Styles/Lynn finish didn't make sense with Siaki interfering, AJ winning the title, and then having the belt given back to Jerry Lynn.

It was basically done just to negate a lame ass finish, but it didn't really fly too well and wasn't thought out the right way. The finish still sucked after the announcement since it's contradictory. It would have made more sense if this wasn't a ladder match, since, unless they publicly changed it (which they didn't), ladder matches are anything goes. The ref bump made no sense in that way either.....who cares if the ref saw Siaki interfere, big deal.

I still like that they tried to give the belt credibility by what Bullet Bob said though, and its cool they will give them one more blowoff instead of just ending it with Lynn getting the belt back and leaving it at that. I do think though that Styles should have kept the belt, but this could lead to Styles truly proving himself and winning it the right way, which is cool.

Forgot to rate the matches/angles

-Opening promofest, DUD, went nowhere

-Red/Shark Boy ** at best, didn't go anywhere really

-Killings/Lo-Ki, ***, solid match for sure

-SATs/Elvises, ** 1/2, cool finish

-Backstage w/ Lynn, Styles, Siaki, alright angle, had purpose

-Siaki/Young * if even that. I don't see the special stuff in Young like they keep saying, and Siaki is horribly overrated

-Tag titles, 1/2*, if they had to do this, it should have been a gimmicked match. F'n boring stuff

-Styles/Lynn *** 3/4, I'm sure will do better next week. Lynn is the best worker bar-none in the company

-Main event * 1/2, Waltman looked good though.

-Afterbrawl *gag*

Hey...at least the afterbrawl had the SPANISH FLY!!

I was upset that the SAT vs. Elvis match didn't have one...so was really happy when they did it later.

Considering they have a tag title match next week...it made the SATs look strong.

Until the bad guys beat them down of course.

I enjoyed the hell outta that X title match tonight aside from a friggin Dusty Finish in a ladder match. WTF? I also caught that RVD/Lynn retro spot, which was a nice tip of the hat to that old feud.

Truth/LoKi was an interesting match, it sorta seemed like Truth was going to cost himself by attempting high risk stuff in order to prove he is cooler than the X guys.

Some stuff sucked, some was sorta there, but overall a decent enough show. They desperately need to let the actual talented guys main event the show instead of fucking Road Dogg and X Pac. Dear god.

Lastly, it is a matter of weeks before WWE apes that backstage skit with AJ Styles holding Lynn while saying "oh come on, don't hit him..."

Classic.
