Guest Judas14 Report post Posted February 28, 2002 After months of rumors, it's been confirmed that the great Liefeld Purge (cancelling Deadpool/Cable/X-Force and rebooting them with brand new names and #1s) has begun. Cabel writer Darko Macan has confirmed that Cable will be cancelled as of #107 and relaunched (with the current creative team) as well as make ambiguous statements in regards to the new status quo in Soldier X.... http://x-mencomics.com/xfan/forums/showthr...p;threadid=1903
Guest starvenger Report post Posted February 28, 2002 It's funny, but even though LIE-feld created Deadpool, I consider him to be more Nicieza's baby.
Guest AustinHHH4life Report post Posted March 1, 2002 Another bullshit angle by Marvel. Cable is my favorite Marvel character, and now, by some guy in a hotel he gets shot and he dies? Either this so-called revamp is some throwoff, or Marvel doesn't really give two shits about secondary X-characters. Cable had potential to be huge with Bob Weinburg and Mike Ryan, but again Marvel blew it. The funniest thing is, Cable wasn't killed by Stryfe, or Apocalypse, or Deadpool, or any of his main villains, but by some guy in a hotel.....

The character for all intents and purposes should have died in "The 12" or at the very least have his book cancelled then but Marvel kept it around for no good reason. He has no purpose and just exists to take up space. Being killed in a hotel room would qualify as a mercy killing IMHO....
Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted March 1, 2002 I'm going to have to agree with Judas here. Cable was dead man walking after Apocalypse got smoked. His whole reason for existing was to take out Big A and that's it. Cable is a soldier and his mission was completed. Now he has no real reason to be Cable and is a cast off. It was a mercy killing. If Cable hadn't made it his mission and goal in life to kill Apocalypse, then I could see no fault in him staying. Captain America does not just fight Nazi's. He was made to fight all the threats against America. Both are soldier's, but Cable's mission was completed. He has nothing left to do. But it does suck the way that Marvel offs him. They could have at least let made him fodder for a new breed of Sentinels or Sabertooth, or anybody. The way that Marvel is killing Cable is a big "FUCK YOU" to Robby but it's also a slap in the face to the fans who still bought Cable. This whole "Cable dies" thing has been handled very poorly. I am sad to see Deadpool die, but he was starting to get old IMO. The fight that he had with the Punisher a several months ago was great, but I do agree that it was time for him to go as well as Cable. If I was Jimmy, I'd tell Millar to go fuck himself if he thinks that he can work with Marvel and the same guy who they are cleaning out all past traces of his work. I am not sure what kind've say Marvel has in the matter of Millar working with Rob, but if they had any say, I doubt we would be hearing how Millar is going to work with Rob on his new project. Idiot.

Idiot. Actually it's been stated in the rumors that Deadpool isn't going to die and is simply getting a name change. They've hired a new writer (Gail Simons, most famous for her online comic satire column "You'll All be Sorry") and she's openly stated that Marvel won't be killing Deadpool off anytime soon. As for Millar and Rob Liefeld, it's all about the money. Rob's paying Millar to do Youngblood and at the moment Marvel doesn't care about it since they know that as long as they keep paying him, Millar will be loyal to the company and won't jump ship, especially for Rob, who's company is as unstable as you can get..... Guest Vyce Report post Posted March 3, 2002 Am I the only one who thinks Millar is a bit overrated? I mean, sure, I think his work on Ultimate X-Men & Ultimates is good....but this guy gets more smoke blown up his ass than almost anyone I've seen. I read an old issue of Wizard, and they were pretty much saying that Millar's Ultimate X-Men was as good if not BETTER than the original Stan Lee X-Men.....and to me, that's just crazy talk! Guest starvenger Report post Posted March 3, 2002 >Am I the only one who thinks Millar is a bit overrated? You're probably not the only one that thinks that. I think that the comic industry seems to have this fetish with the Brit writers. Mind you that's better than the 90s where everyone had a fetish for any artist who could draw nice Z-cups. That being said, I like Millar's work on Ultimates, but I don't read any of his other stuff, so I can't form an opinion either way on him. >I read an old issue of Wizard, and they were pretty much saying that Millar's Ultimate X-Men was as good if not BETTER than the original Stan Lee X-Men.....and to me, that's just crazy talk! If there's one thing you need to do with Wizard, it's that you have to take the hype with a grain of salt, as it's pretty much the same type of hype that you see in the film, music and video game industries.
