In light of the sudden influx of bannings due to spam postings, I'd like to say, from a user's point of view, dammit, it's not even funny anymore. Stop it.

 

Use some intellectual thought for about a month before you post something completely irrelevant and get yourself banned. Sure, we'll still hate you, but at least you fucking contributed something worthwhile before getting yourself chucked.

Why stop at a month? I mean if you're going to post intelligent points, then by all means post intelligent thoughts. Me (and I'm sure the other posters will agree with me here) don't come here for posts that say "YOUR MOMMA SUXORS MY DIX LOL!!!!!1!!!". If you got something good to say, say it, if not, just leave this freakin' board and stop wasting the bandwidth

Trolls suck, but what I fail to grasp is why they keep coming back once they've been banned. I've never been banned from a bulletin board, but if I ever were, I wouldn't keep coming back with different screen names, plaguing the moderating staff and the other posters. For chrissakes, it's a goddamn message board on the fucking internet. If you got kicked off, there was a good reason for it, and you should take it like a fucking man and move on.

A troll's only purpose is to annoy people, and start fights. When they come back time after time, they annoy you. The best way to defeat a troll is ignoration. Most trolls aren't men yet, so they don't know better.

True. I just can't get into the mindset where my only purpose in going somewhere is to annoy people. I guess I just don't have that desperate need for the attention of strangers. If more people ignored the trolls, I do think we'd have fewer of them, but I've made that case before, and it didn't go anywhere. People still respond all the time, so the troll keeps responding until he gets banned. Then he comes back, and the cycle repeats.

 

See that, folks? Another voice advocating that trolls are ignored until they're banned.

i think you bring up a good point alina. trolls should be ignored BUT then you have 30 different posters responding to said troll until he becomes the most dominant figure on the message board. i think it would also help if people didn't start up 3000 "why was so and so banned" threads. our moderators have done a great job of keeping most trash off the board and if they ban someone, there is no reason to question the decision.

That statement is only partially true. If you did something do deserve getting banned, then you do know it. But in austin420's case I saw nothing that he did wrong.

I agree totally with you. The regular posters should just ignore them. All the mods (except Jingus, and his silly fight callout) did a good job of exterminating the trolls in quick time.
