Do you feel suckered into seeing "good" movies?

Ok, I was just pondering this since Red Dragon will come out tommorow. I was just thinking that the movie/entertainment industry tricks us all into thinking average/good movies are great and instills to us that we must see them. Originally I was so hyped when I saw the preview for Red Dragon I went through all the motions of preperation, yet for some reason with the independent film festival coming to town tommorow, I just don't care about Red Dragon anymore. It kind of puts things in perspective to think there will be movies at this festival that were made for a fraction of hollywood blockbusters, yet will be 100x better in the quality deparment. I am not rich so $9+ is a lot for me to go see movies on a weekly basis. I am not doubting that Red Dragon(among other huge hollywood productions) will be good, it is just that, why do I always find myself settling for GOOD when I should save the $9 for maybe once a month to go see something GREAT. Thoughts?

If I'm interested in seeing a movie, I will go see it, regardless if it's a mainstream Hollywood movie or not.

If don't have that much interest, I wait for the DVD to come out and borrow a copy from work to watch.

No movie has MADE me go to the theaters to see it since I first heard of Evolution, and even then I only saw it in the theaters because my friends wanted to see it...oh yes, and it had HAROLD RAMIS as a writer, with DAN F'N AYKROYD in a big role. All we needed was Murray, I tells ya...BILL, WHY NO GB3 YOU BASTARD?! YOU DO CHARLIE'S ANGELS AND THAT PIECE-OF-SHIT "UPDATED" VERSION OF HAMLET, BUT YOU WON'T DO GB3?! AGH~!

Well, I lied. Spider-Man made me want to see it ASAP...

Not going to the theater again for a while, though...well, until The Ring makes it to the local indy theater that only charges $4 a person instead of $9 at Hoyts...

The only time I go to a theater is for a big-budget special effect movie (star wars, etc.) I figure if I'm going to spend an absurd amount of $ to sit in an enclosed space packed with teeny boppers and screaming brats, I might as well get my $'s worth in special effects.

Anything else I wait until the DVD comes out...

Goddamn, movies are expensive for you guys. They're only $5.25 here, for the late show anyway.
