Guest SupaTaft Report post Posted October 3, 2002 Ok, today I was walking around school and I noticed something. It was small but I simply brushed it off. As the day progressed, I noticed it become more and more consistent. I am incorporating the wrestling terms used on this site into my own speach without even noticing it. In my choir class I was talking all about "selling" a certain part of the song. Not being cast in the school play, I was complaining about being "held down" by a "Kliq" and trying to "break through the glass ceiling". Hell, a week ago I reffered to myself as a vocal RVD, a virtuoso being able to do great things, but being held down (i.e. not being bumped up to the advanced choir despite my advanced skill level) by a guy who sucks at singing but is cherished by the teacher (HHH to Vince). What next? Am I going to yell at someone complimenting on our marching band, though the show is shitty as hell and calling them a fucking mark? Do any of you people do this as well? -Taft
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted October 3, 2002 YEah...but not to this extent. I find myself doing this all the time and not even knowing it...
Guest T®ITEC Report post Posted October 3, 2002 I'll use wrestling terms and other things I pick up on the board (like "fo sheez") all the time in everyday conversation. Of course, it doesn't help that my best friends are wrestling fanatics and that we're always making jokes about quads.. Mention the quad tear, and the wrestling terms just pour out. "Fo sheez" has almost replaced "Vince" in everyday speak for me.
Guest SupaTaft Report post Posted October 3, 2002 The quad tear is just automatic for me. I keep telling everyone that our marching show looks so shitty that I tore a quad just reading the sets. And only one of my friends likes wrestling... -Taft
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted October 3, 2002 I use the word "selling" all the time, but manage to contain it there. But still, the urge is present... ::Poses, spits water, tears quad::
Guest Leena Report post Posted October 3, 2002 I use "selling" and "jobber" all the time. Sadly, I've never used "fo sheez", "NO POBO~!" or "put your salami in my mouth".
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted October 3, 2002 I'm gonna try to work "No pobo!" into the commentary on the wrestling TV show this week.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted October 3, 2002 I find it almost impossible to talk about a film's plot without referring to characters as "heels" and "faces". I also use "sell", but thats not necessarily a wrestling-exclusive term. I have used the phrase "mark out", which of course nobody knows the meaning of. Alas, no "fo sheez" or "NO POBO~!" in real life yet.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted October 3, 2002 I use "mark out" (and all its variations), "selling," "job," and "no-selling" all the time. Only, like, 4 or 5 of my friends watch wrestling. Strangely, they all know what I'm talking about...
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted October 4, 2002 Okay, I established that the salami was FOOD, as I said I ate some myself. My friends have all figured out what the wrestling terminology means by being around me, because I use it all the time. "Fan" is no longer used. Neither is "went crazy" or any variation. I even say INTENSE~! I've started using (poses, spits water) more in my online conversations. And Alina is bitter because I'm not paying attention to her anymore. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest Leena Report post Posted October 4, 2002 And Alina is bitter because I'm not paying attention to her anymore. You are disgraceful.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted October 4, 2002 I use most of those, also I use "ESTABLISHED~!" alot. I used to say, "Oh Tag" and "INTENSE"
Guest T®ITEC Report post Posted October 4, 2002 I forgot about saying "marking out". I've been using it for so long, I always forget that I'm saying it.. Except sometimes I'll realise it when I'm with non-fans, and thusly find myself feeling stupid.
Guest Angle-plex Report post Posted October 4, 2002 I don't use any wrestling language except for "no-sold".
Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted October 4, 2002 I use selling and no-sold at appropriate situations, as well as commenting on how I'm being held down.

Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted October 4, 2002 Oh yea, I forgot all about the tilde-bang... hell, I never even knew it had an official name/title until now... what is ~ "supposed" to be used for anyway? I've never seen the symbol outside of the wrestling community.
Guest Olympic Slam Report post Posted October 4, 2002 I use "no-sell" and "no-selling" a LOT. "Jobber" "Job" a lot as well Marking out is a popular term too Heh, I refer to the 11th grade as the year I "turned heel." Although I think I reverted back to being a face a year or so later. Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted October 4, 2002 My friend and I call it the Tildex, since it's a tilde + exclamation point. TILDEX~! Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest Ace309 Report post Posted October 4, 2002 The TildeBang is my AIM Buddy Icon~! I warn people not to tear their quads on the way to 100-level exams. I don't skip class, I no-sell it. I don't have a midterm, I'm taking a sick bump on Wednesday. Oh, and I'm marking out for both Amy AND Jessica... Amy for rejuvenating the tag team division, and Jessica for duplicating Stacy Keibler's assets. ... and by the way, I once got my girlfriend to admit that my workrate was five-star by telling her first. I'm still not sure she understood what it meant, but it was nice. Unfortunately, I ended up carrying her to the big finish, but she only became a broomstick near the end.
