Multitime Tag champion...still just Edge KOTR...still just Edge. Multi-time IC champion...still just Edge. Terrible feud with Regal...still just Edge. Long feuds with Eddy and Angle resulting in some awesome matches...still just Edge. There is no character progression, and I don't think the fans buy into any elavation. He's just Edge. Same pop every time...just Edge. No wrestler on the roster...Let me repeat... NO WRESTLER ON THE ROSTER needs a heel turn more than Edge to freshen him up.

The fans have no problem buying him beating Angle (who's at least the in the top 3 heels for Smackdown). So is he ever going to get in the actual Main Event or what? If they're going to they need to hurry up and do it, if not then have something for him to do then a different feud every month.

Edge has good matches with other talented people, thats what talented workers do. If you can't see the improvement from the tag team days until now, I don't know what you need to see. BTW, Where's Chris Benoit's character development? Or Angle's? Just Edge... like he's Test or something.

So me one IOTA of improvement from Christian in the last year. Anything? Don't blame Booker T, Goldust, and Hurricane because Christian doesn't do shit to make himself look better. Edge gets better programs because he's the better worker. I thought you wanted the better workers in the better programs.

Guest godthedog Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 on the contrary, i think edge is REALLY finding his groove as a babyface in the ring, if not on the mic. he's literally learning from every match he has with an 'elder' wrestler, and you can see a huge improvement from his first set of matches with angle, to his matches with eddie, to his last match with angle. tonight he was hitting like a .65 steamboat with the really nice timing and the GREAT selling, and all the other little things he's adding in his matches.

Benoit is a better worker than Edge...and he doesn't get a bigger push. Taker gets a huge push all the time...and he sucks. So don't tell me he gets pushed based on talent.

He's away from E&C now he should bring back some of the darkness his character had when he first debuted. The whole "freaks come out at night" promo he did way back was cool. He also needs to learn ways of making his opponent look good in the process. Things like NOT using the spear as a finisher, but more of a transition to the finisher. It should be the set up to his finisher. He really is a heat vaccum sometimes. Especially with Angle earlier this year.
Guest goodhelmet Posted October 4, 2002 Report Posted October 4, 2002 for god's sake bps, you sound like another irrational poster on this board. i for one am happy that edge is fighting eddy, angle and hopefully benoit. i would rather those 4 fight one another gauranteeing great matches for the remainder of the year than for the dynamic duo (benoit and angle) to involve themselves in an angle that sees them being squashed by Underfucker. there is a reason SD! is ruling all right now, and edge is a major contributor to that. as for christian, look at the matches he had since he went solo. maybe the ddp match at mania was watchable but the guy's offense needs a shot in the ass soon! where is the rule that states every recently turned solo heel must control the match with slow plodding offense? edge took advantage of his situation by keeping up with the big boys. christian took advantage of his situation by becoming slow, predictable, and boring.

Edge, Angle, Benoit, Lesnar, Taker, and Rey all came across as "top-tier" guys. I think a lot of people are letting their memories get the best of them. This is the WWE, where history disappears, remember?

In fact, when I first said that he should be in the main event, at the old boards, I was made fun of. How ironic. Anyway, I have liked Edge since I first saw him when he came to the ring through the crowd in his trenchcoat. That was pre-Brood days. There for awhile I thought that he was going to be a Kanyon clone, but he progressed through that. His promo's are the only thing that I dislike. He goes out of his way to make jokes, and it either makes him look like an idiot or makes his opponent look silly. Whatever happened to babyfaces who just wanted to win? Now it seems like matches just happen. There is no rankings amongst wrestlers anymore. A number 1 contenders match comes out of the air, and it usually seems like at least one of the wrestlers involved shouldn't be in the match. Maybe that's just me. I like Edge's wrestling moveset for the most part, however I agree with a few things that have been brought up thus far: 1.) Edge shouldn't use the spear.. at all. The only time I thought that it looked credible is when he hit it off of the ladder to connect with a dangling Jeff Hardy. Then look at how small Hardy is! Rhyno should be coming back soon, and that would be the perfect reason to tell Edge to stop using it. Also, if Goldberg ever comes in, that would be another reason. 2.) His moves have ignorant names. Edge-O-Matic, Edge-O-Cution, etc. Michael Cole even gets the moves mixed up.. oh wait, that's just Cole being himself, but still it's ignorant. Why can't his finisher just be called the Implant DDT? or Elevated DDT? His ring attire and entrance are both great. He has the look, and the wrestling is above average. His promo's are passable but could be better. I don't see any reason why he shouldn't be main event. Maybe putting him at the top of a PPV in a three-way dance for the World Title would help put him into that level. He doesn't have to win, but competing for the belt on PPV couldn't hurt.
