hmmm. maybe everyone who bitched about the quality of the board would stop if post counts would disappear. i am sure the option exists. that way, many of the mindless post whore threads would disappear. the 8000 posts and counting threads would disappear. the three letter replies for the sake of gaining a post would disappear. the established poster nonsense would disappear. hell, by eliminating post counts, it seems like a lot of the troubles that plague the quality of the board would disappear.

Sure it's not neccasary. The people who do that are normally hated (DJ Jeff for example)

It depends. Sometimes a smilie can be humourous, if used in the right situation, or, if it is an attempt to be sarcastic.

and if i recall correctly, people were more upset that the rankings disappeared moreso than the post counts. hell, here, your title can be whatever you want it to be!!!!

True. But people will still whore around wether or not you get rid of post counts. So it's not worth the trouble.

 

Most people don't post in the post whore threads to get a higher post count that's only an added benifit. Most people post in them because it's fun.

 

If people want to place importantance on post counts, let them.

oh i disagree. i think people do post whore because of the post counts. i think a lot of the post examples i had just mentioned would cease if they knew they weren't tacking onto the total. hell, in this same thread, you even implied one reason to post was solely to increase the post count and asked for thanks for doing it.

Personally, during the Summer, when you'd look at the 'Today's Top 10 Posters' list, and see that people had posted 200-300 times in one day, I had to shake my head.

 

Now, I'm sure some of those were decent responses to somethings, but for the most part, it was one word (if it could even be considered a 'word') posts, designed solely to get to another 'milestone' and make fun of Lil' Bow Wow.

 

I felt like telling them, 'Go outside, get a job, do SOMETHING'. There's more to life than just sitting in front of a computer, trying to gain some type of 'respect' through a large number underneath your name.

Yes SOME people do take part in those threads for the sole purpose of increasing their post counts.

 

But alot...even the majority of the posters don't do that. If those morons want to waste time trying to improve on their post counts let them.

 

 

I honestly don't think people would stop being post whores if you turned off Post Counts because they'd probably find a way to keep track anyway.

 

Post Counts are just fine in my books, and despite all of this I don't see why we should eliminate them...but I wouldn't spaz out if we did.

Post whoring is almost like an addiction. It's just really fun to watch the number go up and up and up. I think I've whored ten times, and that was when someone else said they were post whoring, and it turned into making fun of said whoring. Example:

Isn't this one of the reason Socialist's Sanctuary works so well and is so interesting... no post counts? It's about the conversation... like I haven't been there in a few days and I feel like I'm missing out.
