Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted October 4, 2002 Article I never really liked the North America vs the World format, mainly because a couple of times you had teamates playing against each other. I dont really follow hockey as much as Football/Baseball or nearly as much as some that post here though, so my opinion might be well in the minority.. Guest treble charged Report post Posted October 4, 2002 I think that they should just use the North America vs. World format for Olympic years (that is, if they go back to the Olympics next time). That way, it has some sort of 'meaning' (well, as much meaning as an all-star game can have).
Guest Leena Report post Posted October 4, 2002 Eh, it's just a scoring exhibition, it's not like it matters.
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted October 5, 2002 I agree with Alina. I rarely watch any All Star games, as much as I love hockey, I hate scores of 14-12. TC, I agree with you about the Olympic years idea. That's a pretty swank idea, they should put it to use.
Guest DJ Jeff Report post Posted October 5, 2002 I actually prefer the West vs. East format. To me, it always determined which was the better conference that year.
Guest gthureson Report post Posted October 5, 2002 Want to make the All-Star game interesting again? Go back to its roots. Stanley Cup Champion vs. League All-Stars. I dunno about anybody else, but if I was playing in that game on either side, I'd want to win it, and do what it took to win it. The Champs 'cause there is something to be said about being able to take on the best the league has to offer and win. The All-Stars, 'cause it'd be damn right embarassing to have the best players in the league on one side, and not be able to beat the Champs. And, because the Champs have their plumbers in the lineup, they'll be doing their job. Digging out pucks, throwing hits. Of course, it'll never fly 'cause because they want a 'showcase for the league', and not a good game. Whatever. Let everybody in on the skills competition. Have a real game of the Best Team In The League vs. Best Players in the League. My two cents.
Guest Olympic Slam Report post Posted October 5, 2002 I liked the World v. N. America format but I agree that it should be reserved for Olympic years. A change was definitely in order. "Want to make the All-Star game interesting again? Go back to its roots." That would be great, especially if the entire team from the previous year came back to play. It'd never fly today though, as the all-star game these days is all about marketing the players and marketing the teams. The game itself is an after-thought
Guest starvenger Report post Posted October 5, 2002 Eh, I only watch the Skills Competition, which is the best one out of the major sports.
