The other night while watching Raw, it was kind of cool seeing the NWO, and Scott Hall specifically, wish Mr. Perfect good luck in his match against SCSA.  For those too young to remember, Big Scott Hall and the future Mr. Perfect, Curt Hennig, held the AWA tag team titles back in 1986.  My question is, who went on to the better career.

Hennig won the AWA World Title, and the WWF Intercontinental Title and had some classic matches against Bret Hart.

Scott Hall was WCW US champ and WCW World Tag Team champ and was part of one of the biggest angles in the history of our sport with the NWO.  He was also WWF Intercontinental Champ and had one of the best matches against Shawn Michaels in a ladder match.

So who do you think fared the best in their careers and why?

"So who do you think fared the best in their careers and why?"

Regardless of what comes to pass, I'll always remember Hennig for his freakshow bumping ability and wrestling prowess.  That is good.

On that note, I'll always remember Hall for his substance abuse problems, his reported bad attitude, and the fact that he was part of "the worst Triple Crown match ever" with Mutoh.  That's got nothing to do with WWF, so I digress.  Hall's bad rep will always precede him and it's hard to get past that.  That is bad.

Luke, who'll take Perfect vs. Bret at Summer Slam '91 over Shawn vs. Razor at WMX ANYDAY...

During their first stints in the WWF I'd say they were about equal as far as success goes. Both were IC champs and both worked with big stars like Flair, Hart, Michaels, etc.

In WCW, Hall was much more successful. He was a huge reason for WCW success and was apart of the main angle in the company while Hennig was still stuck in the mid card in horrible angles like the Rap vs. Country angle.

Now their both back in the WWF and I have to say Hall is a much bigger draw. While Perfect gets squashed by Kane and Austin on RAW, Hall's apart of the main angle in the company and viewed as a more legitimate threat against Austin.

I would say that both guys fared well during their first runs in the WWF.  After leaving for WCW both had their share of personal problems and I would say that their quality of matches dropped considerably.

The more successful of the two is probably Hennig because he is more skilled in the ring and who can forget his bumping.

I voted it as a tie.  If you take a look from roughly 1987-93 I would say Hennig was easily the better wrestler and was more popular.  From roughly 1994 to now I would say Hall has been the bigger star and involved in better angles.

In regards to wrestling, I'd say Hennig was better though.

Back in about 1992 or 93 I remember a PWI cover story on Razor Ramon.  They showed a pic of Hall and Hennig when they were AWA tag champs.  Hall had a goofy curly afro style hairdo and a mustache.  He looked really weird compared to his look for the past 10 years.

Hennig was the better of the two from his time in the AWA to his first WWF run. Hall went thru some bad gimmicks in WCW. Hall then became better in the WWF. Hall now is the bigger "star" of the two.

Hennig is a former World Champion, arguably the best IC Champion ever and remembered as being one of the greatest wrestlers of all time.

Scott Hall is remembered for jobbing to the 123 Kid, being Nash's little buddy, and his multiple substance abuse problems.

Hennig is easily better.

I watched AWA during this time and Hall was a caucasian cowboy.  So a few years later when I found out who Razor Ramon really was, it blew my friggin mind.  He to this day to me looks hispanic but if you saw him back in the day you'd think he was a good ole boy from a farm somewhere.

I'd have to got with Hennig too. Great heel. Hey, I didn't even think the Rap/Country angle was *that* bad. Not good, but better than a lot of stuff the WCW had going that year.

Some of you aren't answering his question.  He asked who had a better career, not who was a better wrestler, or who your favourite was.

I think Hall easily had a better career.  From the time he got into the WWF, he's had a decent to great career as far as I'm concerned.  He is one of the best IC champs, and has held it more times than Hennig.  In WCW, he was in possibly the biggest angle in wrestler, while hennig wasn't even close in this respect.  Now that they're both back in the WWF, Hall is a way bigger name then Hennig.

Hall also did less with the belt than Hennig did.  Hennig also has one World Title, whereas Hall has none.  Hall may be the bigger name now, because of the NWO, but Hennig still has some name value.  In the late 80s, early 90s, while Hennig was feuding with Hogan, Hall was in no man's land.  And how much exactly did Hall accomplish in the NWO?  He was always second fiddle to Hogan & Nash.  The high-point of Hall's career was as a World Title contender in the winter of 92-93.  That's it.  Hall's career is more comparable to Sean Waltman.  He will forever be known as being a sidekick.

I am not arguing that Hennig had a more successful career than Hogan (that would be absurd), or Nash (although Nash destroyed more than he accomplished).  But he easily had a more successful career than Hall.

You make it seem like holding the AWA Title is like holding the WWF or WCW title or something. I agree that Perfect had a better IC Title reign but Hall’s reign was not bad either. You say Perfect was feuding with Hogan when Hall was nothing. Well Hall was feuding with Goldberg while Perfect was in WCW doing nothing and he's currently feuding with the biggest star in the company (Austin) while Perfect is pretty much doing nothing.

The AWA Title was definitely on the level of the WCW title.  How long have you been watching wrestling?  Because it doesn't seem that you know much about the AWA.

During Bockwinkle's final days, the AWA belt meant nothing because it was held by a bunch of paper champions like Rick Martel, Curt Hennig, Jerry Lawler, and Larry Zbyzko. So it pretty much equaled the value of the WCW title in its last year, which was held by such legends as David Arquette, Vince Russo, DDP, and Jeff Jarrett.
