Is it just me, or are Michael Cole and Tazz actually a pretty good announce team? Maybe it's because JR and Lawler are going down the shitter, but I find myself actually ENJOYING them on Smackdown. Cole has kinda toned the excitement down a little and Tazz is a decent color guy, who doesn't drool all over himeslf when Torrie struts around in a bikini screaming "PUPPIES!! PUPPIES!!"

Get a new GM, and Smackdown would smoke RAW even more.

After finding Cole annoying over the last few years he has grown on me recently. Cole and Tazz have both improved and they have some sort of chemistry.

I've noticed this too. Cole and him have really gotten into a groove in calling a match...the way they've handled the last few great Smackdowns has been excellent. Tazz and Cole put over both people involved, even when they're not "Bubba Tough" or "HHH". They have really picked up the psychology of matches lately too.

Of course, Cole's retarded "Sixth Man" phrase has popped up too weeks in a row. If there's two people wrestling, shouldn't the fans be the third man? Crazy Cole.

Cole is a twit, but I'd take Tazz over Lawler any monday...

SD! is just so much better in comparison to EVERYTHING about RAW.

Ugh... Cole and Tazz are still annoying to me.

Tazz: I respect Kurt Angle, and I respect what he's doin' in this match.

Cole: (after a suplex) What a THROW from Mysterio!

Tazz: Mysterio's bringin' the heat, I respect that!

I'll take JR/Lawler over those two ANY day.

As a team, Cole and Tazz run circles around JR and Lawler. I still think JR is a better commentator than Cole though. Until Lawler improves (probably never), Tazz is a significantly better color commentator since he actually focuses on the match instead of T&A.

Guest chirs3

Aside from HLA, Lawler has before and is now mostly limiting the T&A talk to the women's matches.

Tazz, on the other hand, is annoying the WHOLE TIME.

Replace Cole with Kevin Kelly and you've got a pretty good team. It still smokes RAW though. The only area in which Smackdown isn't better than RAW is the General Manager.

Tazz actually calls moves not calling anything including punches a Takedown. he is the first to Call Edge's Electric Chair Suplexes. he almost called a Dandina, he probably gonna get fired over calling it LOL

I actually liked when he first started out doing WWF commentary when he started doing the Old School Commentary, trying to Mimic Gorden Solie.

Tazz and Cole had a great teamwork Chemistry that should have been apparent before INvasion when Austin kicked Cole's Ass. You could see a Tazz vs Austin feud but evidently that would have been too dangerous to Austin's health.

I hate almost every WWE announcer . . . for a company that huge you would think they could find some great voice talent somewhere in the Indy circuit that can call a match the way it should be called. JR and the King with their packaged chitchat . . . Cole and Taz and what ever the hell they do . . . Coach and . . . whoever the hell on Heat. Jesus . . . the only reason I bitch so much about the WWE announce teams us when I watch wrestling I’m usually on the computer at the same time, so for extended amounts of time I have my back to the TV . . . all I hear is that gawd awful chitchat. *shudder*

*Thinks back to Bobby Heenan . . . Mike Tenay . . . Joey Styles . . . Gorilla Monsoon . . . * :) Good times . . .

I've been quite impressed with those two lately as well. Though the next time I hear one of them say "Only on Smackdown!", I'll be forced to kill the entire population of Prince Edward Island. Hey, no one would notice anyway.

Cole still has his moments of stupidity, but seems to be timing his emotional outbursts better to suit the moment. Tazz is so much better than Lawler at this point it isn't even measurable. He actually calls the match, points out the psychology for the fans at home and steers Cole back from his shilling. Cole's doing better at controlling the shilling lately too. (By shilling I mean other matches and wrestlers being talked about during a match, not the brand shilling)

Last person who not only call the moves but explained why a wrestler does it to his opponent, such as rest holds, even though we know their rest holds, this particular person tells the story why someone slaps on a Bearhug, a Sleeper, a Nerve Hold, and that is...Da Man

Governor Jesse Ventura..

Tazz has got some of that, but he doesn't have all that the Da Man had when he commentated.

Even as a Heel announcer he was Objective and he never was a ass kisser heel type like Jerry Lawler was, or a scheming side Manager like the Other MAN was whom was Bobby Heenan.

Jesse pointed out and even called the stuff that Faces did which was crooked but when they are good people let it slide. Like Hogan.

too bad its only a rumor and its untrue that Jesse said he was comin back, because Raw would kick all kinds of ass with Jesse commentating, he would even make you forget that there are bad wrestlers wrestling.

Guest Ravenbomb

there's always Raven, after they do the fake Raven push #7638 he might want to go back to commentary, and Raw would be a better place with him instead of Lawler (fantasizes: "Go hit on a 12 year old or something, puppy boy!" *Evenflow*)

I'm not sure if Cole and Tazz have imporved because Smackdown's matches are gold compared to RAW or because JR and Lawler have just been total duds lately. I swear JR sounds like a bitter old lady half the time.

Guest chirs3

After Raven's last outing on commentary with Lawler, I humbly suggest that he STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM THE ANNOUNCE BOOTH.

Jesus, that was horrible.

If Tazz would stop acting like a "face, no heel! no face, no heel!" and stop saying how much he respects this and respects that, and stops saying "Rocketbustah" (which he has toned down quite a bit recently), then he'd be ok.

I'm actually digging Cole and Tazz- they seem to have chemistry instead of JR who sounds bored out of his skull

I like Tazz and Cole, watching the Benoit match where Cole said Benoit had zero percent body fat, with Tazz replying he used to be like that and then Coles put down was funny. It is the little touches that add up for me. I especially like the way Tazz sells moves that a wrestler is doing to wear down an opponent.

Good Commentating

Excellent Matches

-Cruiserweights

Entertaining Wrestlers/Promos

...

I cant think of one thing that RAW has over Smackdown. Overall its clearly a better show, and I dont see how anybody could try and say otherwise.

JR bored on commentarry....I think he's been that way ever since both Foley and Austin left the company.

Lawler...eh...I have old WrestleMania tapes of when Lawler wasn't mocking himself to tide me over with him.

Cole and Tazz...yeah, they're doing good for themselves. They've got serious potential as a commentarry team.

However, if I were to have my own wrestling company and could have anyone alive to be commentators...my team would consist of two people:

Joey Styles: I liked how this guy...DIDN'T CONCENTRATE ON OTHER MATCHES WHEN CALLING MATCHES! He actually focused on the match at hand...which I always thought was a smart move.

And his partner...

JESSE VENTURA!: Yes...Jesse was one great color commentator which all others should be judged. He was heelish a lot...but he had respect for the other talent as well.

If not Ventura, maybe Heyman. I could just IMAGINE a teaming of Styles and Heyman. >=D

I hated heyman.

Sure he would call the match, but all his "ONE SECOND AWAY JR!!!" and other shit got on my nerves the first time he said it.

The guy can cut a promo or do a segment, but hes no good for longer than 15 minutes at a time.

yeah, cole didn't annoy me at all on thursday & tazz was quite good. he was REALLY good during edge/angle, pointing out the strategy, putting both guys over, talking about the psychology of the match...making it seem like both guys are actually trying to win (something ross hasn't done in years).

Posted

I still cannot stand Cole. He is just so irritating. The man is constantly harping on about what happend earlier tonight or whats going to happen later on tonight. Why doesn't he just call the damn match? Another thing I hate about Cole is when someones music and video hit and he says: "Who's this Tazz?" Aaaarrrrgggghhhh!!! Hey Micheal Cole:

:stupid:

As for Tazz, he does pop in an amusing comment now and then put he still pretty much sucks.

Cole and Tazz smoke JR and the King six ways from Sunday. Lately JR has sounded bored, and somewhat to the point where he's actually angry/disgusted with Lawler. As for Lawler, I will say this: The man has no place behind that microphone. Cole and Tazz, on the other hand, seem to geniunely enjoy each others company and have no problem trying to put over the WRESTLING of the show, not the bra and panties match later on or the catfight we just witnessed. I used to really hate Cole, but he's started to grow on me as of late, even if he is still a bit of a tool.

J.R. and Lawler are just parodies of their former selves.

Taz and Cole are good IMO because they only focus on the wrestlers and put over the wrestlers who are in the ring. They also always focus on the match (granted Cole is a bit of a tool).

I'd love to see Tenay in the booth as well, a guy who knows all about the history and all the moves. Also, a third guy in the booth would be refreshing for the WWE.

Another thing about Cole and Tazz is that they seem to enjoy their jobs, and want to get better. There have been reports that in recent months the pair have been getting to arenas hours early to research/watch taped matches/practice etc, this has not only improved their announcing, but spending this time together has improved their chemistry.

Lawler, and JR especially seem bored and come across as if they are merely going through the motions. How are they going to get the audience into a match if they are not interested in it themselves!

The thing I didn't like about Heyman's commentary was that fact that he screamed every single sentence. Sometime you should save that excitement for when you want to emphasize something important.

I like Devon Storm on commentary as well. Raven, Devon Storm & Tazz are all pretty good wrestler/commentators.

Jesse Ventura & Bobby Heenan are probably my favorites of all-time, but Gorilla wasn't bad.

Lawler & Cole suck nuts. Ross used to be good, but he isn't anymore.

JR is the man who when Jericho's countdown hit didn't know Jericho was going to come out.
