Indiana Teen Saved After Online Suicide Bid

The online incident, and the reaction it got from the community, was reminiscent of a suicide attempt in Seattle in August of last year.

A young woman leapt off a 160-foot-high bridge after passing motorists, tangled up in the traffic snarls she created, yelled things like, "Jump, bitch, jump!."

The woman lived, but ignited remorse in a city that once prided itself on being free from big-city woes.

I remember that and I must say I did kindof laugh... it was sad but funny. But to the topic at hand why are you jumping on the net for help? I think if people need help because of suicide they need to go and talk to a person that they can see and touch etc. to hear the sympathy in the persons voice. If you can't talk to your parents, then talk to your grandparents or anyone that you can.

Several years ago, I was unfortunate enough to be in a chat room on a night when three people came in feeling "depressed" and "suicidial." They were all separate incidents spaced apart, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was the same person each time. Anyway, the fawning idiots in the room put on their best sympathetic faces, gave the morons the attention they were seeking, and kept trying to "talk them out of it" with the usual cliches. I just kept re-iterating that the world really IS that bad, everyone DOES hate you, and the best way to stop that is to eat a bullet.

Bah. I have no pity for people who so obviously seek attention. If you're actually thinking about killing yourself, what are a bunch of strangers in a chat room going to do about it?

This kid wasn't going to kill himself. If he was serious about it, he'd be dead. I've dealt with enough suicidal friends and family members to know that.

Probably tell you to jump, like the above bleeding hearts did...

Yeah, no shit, was this kid looking for some real sympathy and psychiatric advice from a bunch of gumps on some chat room? Talk about stupid.

Man if I said some shit like that, which I agree with you, I would get verbally slaughtered here. Oh well

A memorial message: "I knew him from IRC. He was a very good dragon"

Another: "* The Celtic red fox pads out of the darkness, and places a white candle on the nearby fireplace mantle*"

A third: "*Bows his head solumnly, an almost unnatural serioussness emanating from him* Ooh... so sad... to lose one..."

Yet another: "*simply and quietly, a golden brown fured cougar pads up, places a white candle, turns, and leaves, a silent tear runing from hsi eye*"

WTF?! Someone real died, you pathetic, miserable roleplaying Mongoloids. And he wasn't a fucking "dragon," he was a human being.

Christ, these people are fucked in the head. The most disgusting part is the aunts and uncles and even the goddamned parents posting in the thread. Doesn't anyone have any concept of dignity anymore? What happened to grieving in private? What happened to having a shred of pride, for God's sake? Prostituting your son's suicide for attention is beyond sickening, even if he was a moron.

There's no decency nowadays. There are no morals. The idiot didn't even die for anything. His life meant nothing and his death meant nothing, it was a melodramatic pity party from start to finish. This kind of whiny, cowardly, egotistical suicide does nothing but denigrate the deaths of those who have to die when they don't want to.

Meaningless, disrespectful, contemptible, and utterly revolting.
