Guest ShooterJay Report post Posted October 5, 2002 What songs absolutely annoy the shit out of you to the point that you can't take more than 5 seconds of it? For me, the most recent case is Metallica's "Last Caress Green Hell." Man, does that song fucking piss me off. As soon as I hear "I've got something to say, I killed your baby today" I shut the radio off. (I have a Mac Itunes program, and this song literally comes up every five or so tracks). Christ, does that song suck. "Breadfan" sucks too, but not to the "nails on a chalkboard" point of "Green Hell." Kelly Rowland's song, I forgot the title, but it's on ALL THE DAMN TIME at parties and the radio, it goes something like "even when I'm with my boo, you know I'm crazier for you." Annoying, repetitive lyrics + annoying beat = annoying song. Whew. that felt good. What recent songs give you the "throw the radio out the window" impulse? Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted October 5, 2002 Creed, Kid Rock, Metallica, and pretty much the entire nu metal genre do that to me.
Guest TheHulkster Report post Posted October 5, 2002 I hate the Kelly Rowlands song too. I hate that American Idol song and "Skater Boi" as well. Terrible songs. I really hate Aerials by SOAD now. I hear it at least 5 times a day. It's the new "In the End" with it's overexposure.
Guest DrainYou42 Report post Posted October 5, 2002 Anything by Dashboard Confessional, Jimmy Eat World and other bands of that ilk. Pretty much everything else that's been mentioned, except for the fact that I've disliked SOAD since day one.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted October 5, 2002 System is definitely too overexposed. They've got some catchy riffs, but they're definitely overrated.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted October 5, 2002 Man, I hate record companies for that very reason... They turn perfectly good bands with perfectly good songs into mainstream overexposed things... I still love System of a Down though, my favorite band hands down, and I don't think that'll change regardless of what the radio does...

Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted October 6, 2002 Yes it is, Nevermortal. Yes it is... Let's pray Jerry doesn't get wind of it, or else he'll send the Fiends after you... Wait..."Last Caress" was a Danzig-written song...nevermind then. As for songs that really piss me off, just about any "brutal" death metal or Dillinger Escape Plan song ever written. Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted October 6, 2002 being in the UK, i haven't had to endure Avril Lavigne for that long, but after seeing her video i instantly wanted to kill her. (oR HIRE SOMEONE OHHH DON'T BAN ME) Alien ant farm are probably next, then busted, (who i don't think are in the US...yet) Creed is good for a laugh, though. Guest Will Scarlet Report post Posted October 7, 2002 I have only had the (mis)fortune of hearing Skater Boi about 3 or 4 times so far, and I must admit that song REALLY gets on my nerves. I am happy I barely listen to the radio because if I had to hear that song all the time, I would think I would end up going insane.
Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted October 7, 2002 I know, i have never and will never listen to the radio. I just, cannot. As for SOAD, i don't think they're that overrated, just that toxicity is. Only cos the first one's better though. I definitely agree about the record companies overexpoing artists, and weekly blowjobs from kerrang and the nme are damaging too. Bands like the hives are just good, none of them are groundbreaking, nor the saviours of rock or whatever.

Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted October 7, 2002 well, i'm new to DEP and have only heard 'when good dogs do bad things' as of yet with Mike Patton, but it is fucking great and i'll be beating myself up for the rest of my life for not seeing them live just cos i couldn't be bothered to get out of my tent. I'm sure in due course they'll be hyped to shit though.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted October 7, 2002 Creed Nu-Metal. Oh and admit this, but System of a Down is the next Korn, admit it.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted October 7, 2002 I REFUSE to fuckin admit that System could EVER stoop to the level of Korn. For one reason, Korn and System are two completely different sounds, System is much, much, MUCH more creative and don't even sound like "nu-metal", whatever the fuck that is, but I'm assuming that's a rock-type band with a rapper at the front (Korn/RATM/POD included). System is straight-up metal and a lot more, Korn is just the same old bullshit, OVER AND OVER AND OVER again, with no personality, and their only gimmick beign that of this teenage angst crap which has sold them records time and time again, and has appealed to their masses which have come to expect it. Same with Staind, as they hit it big with "Outside", the live version not even on any of their own records, but just a side song played at the Family Values Tour, and all of a sudden, they change almsot their ENTIRE style to be jsut depressed mumbling and ballad-type stuff. System never has, and hopefully never will bend or break their style or creativity for the sake of selling more records or not. And why bash things because they get overexposed? It's really not the band;s fault, so you can't hate them for that. Once again, record companies and radio stations. This has been Vitamin X advising you to, once again, MAILBOMB ANY ANNOYING LOCAL RADIO STATIONS IN YOUR AREA. Thank You.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted October 7, 2002 I'd have a higher opinion if they were better live. When I saw them in 2000, everything they played was sped up more than it should've been, and just sounded jumpy. They weren't very tight, either. Nu Metal as I see it is boring verse-chorus verse drop D music about being a social misfit without being serious about it. Connecting with stupid kids who don't bother exploring music further than what the radio plays over and over again. They're hair bands with less talent and no chicks masquerading behind uninspiring music about their parents not giving them enough attention without being specific at all, yet complaining about being lost, confused, trapped, drowning, crazy, bored, hated, lazy, alienated, suicidal, and ugly. They're pop music's golden zit, spewing out pus and raking in cash, soon to pass like food poisoning until we buy something else putrid like a bunch of suckers. That said, System of a Down isn't quite sucked into that pathetic vortex like Linkin Park, Drowning Pool, Neurotica, 12 Stones, Slipknot, Stone Sour, Korn, Godsmack, Saliva, and Staind, but they had the misfortune of appearing with the rest of that crap, and getting just as much exposure, if not more, so they kind of blend in, IMO, although they're much better than their contemporaries. Guest Midnight Express83 Report post Posted October 7, 2002 Nelly's song "Delima" isn't that bad. Its better than 90% of his music. The most annoying song is Anything by Arvil. God she is annoying. A close second will be "I Do" by 3LW. There should be a fox special "When hot chicks(18 year old hispanic one) sings bad music".
Guest hardyz1 Report post Posted October 7, 2002 This isn't totally on topic, but since someone mentioned Linkin Park, I just have to say this: I'm getting fucking sick and tired of their money-grubbing ways, like releasing a remix album and some DVDs after one damn CD. I'll still get thier next new disc, whenever the fuck that is, but their getting on my nerves. One last thing: System of a Down > you
Guest The Metal Maniac Report post Posted October 7, 2002 That one that goes "It's getting hot in here, so take off all your clothes". Keep in mind, I don't LISTEN to the radio, period. When I HAVE to, I tune it out and pay no attention to it. I can't honestly say that I've EVER heard some of the other songs people say are over-played. With that said, I feel the above song, whatever it is, is extremely overplayed. It's so overplayed, that it even gets through to people like me. Plus, the lyrics strike me as being EXTREMELY base. I mean, Christ, you could at least TRY to disguise the fact that it's all about sex. But no...can't have that. I dunno why, but that reallybothers me. Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 7, 2002 that would be "Hot in Herre" by Nelly, whom also does Vocals for another annoying track "Dilemma" with Kelly Rowland. Don't forget Both Avril's songs... Aerials....Love SOAD but it's overplayed. Drops of Jupiter...IT STILL GETS too much airtime. In the end....Don't they have a new single? Guest Brian Report post Posted October 7, 2002 I'm back on a big band and jazz swing for the week so basically everything on radio is pising me off right now. Especially when you have to listen to musak every workday and at the gym. Things that don't piss me off right now, since it's easier that way: John Mayer, Dave Matthews (he was awesome live at Pioneer Square), Bob Dylan (great at the Key Arena). What the heck happened to the Foo Fighters?
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted October 7, 2002 System and Korn has different style of music, but they are making themselves the next korn. Korn's self titled album got no radio play at all, and people thought back then in 95, this is damn good. Next album comes out its good, get themselves exposed with a few catchy songs, not bad. Third album. Pure shit, crapper, MTV money makers...generically bad, as white sub-urban people start to listen to them, thinking Follow the Leader is the first Korn CD. System is going in that direction, like it or not. Their self titled is damn well amazing, through and through, and when I bought the second one, other than 3 songs, I wanted my money back. It was awful, and went right for the teen-angst area. It is sad to say wearing a SOAD T-shirt two years ago you would have gotten a weird look, or "They suck, Limp Bizkit, is the nookie," now they are like "You don't know shit about SOAD. You're not a hardcore fan."
Guest Anorak Report post Posted October 7, 2002 The Oasis cover of "My Generation" is pretty annoying, talk about a band coasting it. I was watching 'Top Of The Pops' and heard something about a band matching The Who's original chart position or something and the next minute there's Liam droning away tunelessly, the lazy bastards. I finally got to see Avril for the first time on the same show and see what you lot have been arguing about for so long. My conclusion? I'm willing to admit I found the overbearing cuteness quite endearing and I've heard a lot worse pop songs. I'm not an Avril hater!
Guest Hitman Jebus Report post Posted October 8, 2002 What the heck happened to the Foo Fighters? Their new single "All My Life" RULES!!! It's been in my head for days now and I've been playing the mp3 version non-stop...I'll probably get sick of it soon. But I'll still buy their upcoming album...the Foo Fighters never let me down (I love all their albums) What's up with Dave Grohl and GOOD music...pick up Queens of the Stone Age "Songs For The Deaf" NOW!!!!! Ahem, well back to the topic at hand...
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted October 8, 2002 If SOAD's next album is terrible, I'm going to lose hope for the band.
Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted October 8, 2002 We'll see. The second SOAD album is nowhere near as good as the first, but you couldn't call it BAD. That said, i don't listen to it anymore. And i only copied it. I think Redbaron makes a good point.
