Bush Social Insecurity ad

Personally, I find it funny as hell.

Of course, privatizing SS would be OPTIONAL (I'd still do it), but that's not mentioned in the ad.

Instead of whining about the ad, there HAS to be some creative GOP strategists able to turn this jab into an impressive counterpunch...

That's so typical of Democrats. For the party that apparently cares about people. They use alot of blatant scare tactics.

That's why its an option. No one is forcing anyone to do what they don't wanna do.

"Not yet. But they're taking baby steps towards that."

With the way the stock market is acting, I doubt it...

Taking baby steps towards privatizing social security is better than the baby steps towards SOCIALISM that Clinton was taking us towards.

The money that I put into social security is MY MONEY and I should be able to do what I WANT with it.

For example, my job currently provides me with a pension. An old-fashioned one, not a 401K. I am currently planning my wedding and trying to get rid of my credit card debt and save money for a down payment on a house. 2 years of social security money could go a long way towards helping me meet my money goals for the next 2 years, and probably wouldn't hurt my retirement much because I have an IRA and a pension.

Allowing people some choice with their money would also give the system some accountability - no one can raid the social security fund, which by law goes into the GENERAL FUND. The whole "lock box" thing is a myth the democrats came up with to scare old people. If the social security money divided everyone's money into their own accounts then no one could touch it. And it could fully fund itself the same way pension funds do.

Wouldn't it be convenient if you could take out a loan against your social security at a rate of, say, 4% interest, with payments automatically deducted from your pay check?

Wouldn't it be convenient if you could put some of you social security money in the stock market while you are young and can afford the risk, and then gradually pull out as you get older?

Wouldn't it be nice if politicians couldn't use your social secutiry money to pay for other people's welfare (if you dont like that) or the war on Iraq (if you don't like that)?

It's about choice, people. This is America, after all.

scaring the old and minorities are the only ways dems know how to run a campaign. They are good at pointing out problems, but never have a solution that doesn't involve tossing tax payers money at it.
