ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2002 Ok...In that whole 3/4 of the year award thread, I have seen a few people post Molly as Woman of the Year. At times, though, I put Molly as Performer of the Year. Let's take a look at the year for the lovely and dangerous Ms. Nora Greenwald AKA Molly Holly. ...well, OK...the year started out slow for her. She was the manager/valet/sidekick of the Hurricane back when the Hurricane never really had any new direction to go. However...I felt that if WWE wanted to, they could have made an old Matt/Lita couple out of the two Super-heroes. Fast foward to WrestleMania X8. This is where Molly comes into her own...at the expence of my favorite Male/Female pair in the past 5 years of wrestling (second would be Skip and Sunny. They were just fun and arrogant). Molly does something people didn't think she would: She turned on Hurricane for the Hardcore Title. This began the heel turn for Molly...and what would be the greatest year of her WWF/E career. It only continued the next two big shows she was on: Fighting Hurricane, and then beating up Trish. We move on...a new look for Molly brings off a tiny bit of heel push...but then kinda a grey area for a while for Molly. She was evil...but never was given the chance to showcase how good she was. That is, until she got the Women's Title. Then she got to beat up Trish. And a testament to her skills showed up: She got through that whole "Molly is a Fat-@$$" gimmick and just showcased how dangerous a performer she can be. She also thankfully survived from being on-air "de-flowered" by Christopher Nowinkski. She's TOO good for him. ^^ Molly has improved gimmick-wise from her WWF/E debut...and has survived humiliation to stay one of the few real women wrestlers around in WWE today. I raise my glass of Code Red Mountain Dew to you, Ms. Molly. But still...I would like to have her back as Mighty Molly for a tiny bit. She and Hurricane just looked so good together. Guest RedJed Report post Posted October 5, 2002 That fatass stuff was just done to try to get her heat as the champ (same with granny panties and her "morals"), not meant to humiliate her or downplay her push. So to say she "survived" that is kind of off, IMO. It's not like that was meant to hold her down. As far as the angle w/ Chris Harvard, honestly, I think they didn't continue that just because he got injured. Wasn't a case of her surviving anything because ummm it never happened, right? No offense but to say she's been the performer of the year is....well........need I say? She sure didn't make any matches classics by WWF women standards, I know that much. Don't get me wrong, she's a good worker, but she's certainly not the end all-be all of the women's scene.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2002 Heh...maybe you're right. I was just writing something to get my mind to stay awake. However...to me, it seemed like the Fat Ass Stuff was meant to be a joke...yet she still stayed serious. As for the Nowinski thing...didn't they sorta stop that with Regal's Dressing-Down of Nowinski...which was before Nowinski got injured?
Guest TheArchiteck Report post Posted October 5, 2002 Molly's cool. But the only women match i'm anxious on seeing is Jazz vs. Victoria.
Guest Banky Report post Posted October 5, 2002 Molly wrestler of the year? She did alright with what was given to her, but to say she is wrestler of the year is downright disgusting. I hear Justin Credible is tearing it up on heat, maybe he is a candidate?
Guest Cataclysm911 Report post Posted October 5, 2002 Molly's not even that good. She just looks better than most of the WWE women wrestlers because they are all so pitiful.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted October 5, 2002 *shakes head* Naw. The problem is she's decreased as a performer since the heel turn. Gone are the missile drop kicks, moonsaults, and other pop-worthy moves. Now it's mostly snapmares and getting the crap kicked out of her by non-wrestling females. Maybe she'll go back to her old style if/when she turns face again soon, but for now she's not as interesting to watch wrestling.
Guest Raven_Effect01 Report post Posted October 6, 2002 Molly's never really had a lot of technical ability, which may be why her current wrestling style as a heel isn't as interesting to watch as her face high-flying style.
Guest deadbeater Report post Posted October 6, 2002 Molly has a lot of tech, but in the WWE she has to dumb it down a whole lot to make the other women (and men) look good. She had to plead to get the Molly-Go-Round through. She had to go through the dumbing down a lot through her entire career. Also her promos are not at Kurt Angle level, at least not yet. Like Kurt Angle is the best promo man in WWE? Don't get me wrong, I find him funny....but..just funny. He's not really been able to come across as a serious wrestler, mainly a goofy heel. He can do it, I'm sure...but even when he's trying to cut an intimidating promo he makes an ass out of himself--like the "accidental" gay/pedophile remarks a couple of weeks ago. Although her promos have done a good job in getting her points across, and were pretty much dead-on true. However, there hasn't been an exceptional, serious mic worker in WWE for a long time. Hell, since...er...Bret Hart? Also, I feel that she does have good technique....hell, she was trained by Dean Malenko...but hasn't had much of a chance to display it. And dumbing down her high-flying offense hurt a lot, too. It seems she always turns at the wrong time--face when the division already has a top face, heel when there's already a top heel in it. And she got the strap mainly because Jazz was injured, although it was nice to see her win it. Now we got Trish as champ and....she's going to face Stacy on a WHEEL OF BISCH picked match. Gah... Guest deadbeater Report post Posted October 6, 2002 The Rock is currently shooting a film, so Angle is currently the standard bearer of promos in the WWE. Anyway, I think Molly should be a 'tweener. Not heel, not face, just herself.

Guest BrianFierce Report post Posted October 6, 2002 molly has more technical ability than any other woman wrestler in the wwe, i will agree with you in your statement she has definatly gona above and beyond the call of duty this year, and deserves the honor

Molly is so fun. Now...if only I could get my secondary screen name to say "Molly's Love-Slave"...
Guest deadbeater Report post Posted October 6, 2002 Also, I noticed that Molly is talking a lot more about gimmick matches. Hmm...could it mean that she may be participating in a few in the next upcoming months?? She also talking about Fit putting more wrestling in such matches. I wonder if she plans to do something wicked like Tiger Driver '91 somebody in a gravy bowl?
Guest ManKinnd Report post Posted October 7, 2002 Bwahahahahahaha! Molly Holly, the performer of the year?! You've GOT to be kidding. Hell, forget Angle who's entertained us constantly on every Smackdown and put on at least half a dozen ****+ matches this year. Forget Benoit, who came back from an injury to rock our world with more technical goodness, and that kickass MOTY with Angle. Forget RVD, who is so over it's sick, and trying hard all the while, so matter how much they hold back on the "big push." After all, Molly had a few ** matches with Trish on Raw and delivers subpar interviews, she deserves this award.
Guest deadbeater Report post Posted October 7, 2002 Mannkind, the difference is that Angle and Benoit and RVD has to do something stupid in order to lose, which sometimes spoil their otherwise 5-star performances, whereas if Molly loses, the wrestler she jobs to has to do something spectacular. Guest BA_Baracus Report post Posted October 7, 2002 Performer of the year? No way. Female performer of the year...yeah, probably.
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Report post Posted October 7, 2002 People...People... Molly can outwrestle all the women in the WWE, and most of the men.

Does this really make her better than they are? Does it make her performer of the year because her opponents look good? Hulk looked good when he beat Andre... Guest deadbeater Report post Posted October 9, 2002 Mannkind, your namesake is regarded the best of all time precisely because he made others look good. His matches are filled with pathos not seen since O'Neill's plays. As for Molly, look at her match with Torrie Wilson on Smackdown as an example. Torrie manages to counter almost all of Molly's offense, and looked good doing so. Nidia had her best match against Molly. Well basically it was a "Molly puts a hold on Nidia, how does Nidia get out?" routine, but it was all right. It is in Molly's nature to eat squash, not squash somebody. She even showed that Jackie Gayda can be a psycho brawler. Do you see Trish carrying any of these three? Neither do I. As good a performer in-ring, she also does a good job assisting Fit in the training of the other women. except for Stacy who is hopeless.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2002 Hey...thanks for the explaination Deadbeater. I didn't think someone still would reply to this...but at least someone can get the good point across. Oh...and for the record...I was at that Smackdown where she fought Torrie.
