Guest Dale Newstead Report post Posted October 5, 2002 This one thing will always have me wondering, it'll always make me think, no matter how good the product becomes, no matter who becomes champion and no matter how long wrestling. This was something that was completely mystical to me, something that boggled my mind... Who was possibly stupid enough, who had such a negative IQ to think up your Wrestlemania Main Event angle to be headlined by a dog getting run over? After all these months, a little bit of me dies every day knowing I was subdued to watching that utter crap!

Guest Dale Newstead Report post Posted October 5, 2002 Why would you bring it back up? Let it go. Oh, I've tried...it was just too rediculous to wonder how it came about, I needed to get this outta my system
Guest Cataclysm911 Report post Posted October 5, 2002 Well, we could sit here and have a whole slew of posters talk about all the negatives that have ever happened in the history of wrestling all over again. What would be the point? There wouldn't be one. It's just a reason to bitch about something that none of us have any control over. Dwelling on the past. Forget about it. Guest evilhomer Report post Posted October 5, 2002 Fully agree that you should move on and forget about it, but if this helps you at all - HHH was the "much beloved" face, Jericho was the heel. Like all good face-heel matches, the face is supposed to have events causing great anger that builds up to its climax in the eventual match. A man hurting another man's dog is a death warrant to some people. As for why they thought this would be a good idea (especially given the horrible execution) over something crazy like say Jericho laying a good old fashioned heel ass whoopin on Hunter, that's something I can't comprehend no matter how much I drink. LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2002 I would love to have been a fly on a wall during the booking meetings where they came up with this. And especially be around when they told the idea to Jericho.

Guest DJ Jeff Report post Posted October 5, 2002 I don't really know what the writers were thinking when they came up with the idea for that storyline. I guess Vince couldn't think of any other ideas, so they decided to use the dog to heat up the fued. Actually, if I remember correctly, wasn't there a debate between Stephanie and HHH as to who got full ownership of Lucy?

Guest BrianFierce Report post Posted October 6, 2002 oh it had nothing to do with hunter winning the rumble, hunter and jericho interupting and run in's on matches, the fact that stephanie and jericho alighned each other in spite of hunter, it was just the dog, your right i forgot
Guest Boseephus Jones Report post Posted October 7, 2002 I know it happened a while ago, but it was such a stupid move that I just HAVE to comment on it. Yes, WHO could have possibly thought this was a good idea. I know sometimes angles just don't work out, ala Austin turning heel, but this case just looked like they WANTED it to turn out horribly. Who was the guy (or gal) who said "You know, we could play up the fact that Jericho was partly responsible for the injury that put HHH out OR we could have a pet dog that craps on the floor or something. Well, seeing that its Wrestlemania and its the main event, I think the dog poop angle sounds a bit better." I know they did use the injury angle to an extent, only the show before Wrestlemania, but they hardly ever referred to it during the months between Rumble and Wrestlemania. They should have had Jericho attack him with a sledge hammer and put him in the Walls on top of the table the night after the Rumble and target the knee every week. They could keep on playing up the angle of whether Hunter will make it to Wrestlemania or not. I'm not saying this would have made for the best main event ever, I'm just saying its a reasonable, sensible angle that would DEFINITELY worked better than what they had, and I just came up with it in thirty seconds. Sometimes I think they just lack simple common sense.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted October 7, 2002 THIS is what you want to find out about wrestling before you die? Geez... if I had to pick one thing about wrestling to know before I die, I'd have to ask why the hell a champion retains his belt if he gets DQ'ed. Doesn't that show he doesn't deserve the title since he can't retain it in a fair contest?
Guest BifEverchad Report post Posted October 7, 2002 Sometimes I think they just lack simple common sense. I couldnt agree with you more on that statement. Sometimes it seems as if the WWE staff spend too much time making things complicated and hard to swallow, while the more simplier things go untouched. Common sense angles and storylines can work out for the better, compared to the usual dribble they've been spitting out at us for the last, oh say...18 months or so. Its such an aggravation, but I'm used to it by now. So any improvement for here on it, is a blessing.

And the lotion. And the corvette. Notice how none of this has anything to do with wrestling, and barely involves Jericho?

Doesn't that show he doesn't deserve the title since he can't retain it in a fair contest? You need to watch some old school shows. The DQ rule is there, so that some biased referee doesn't call for a DQ and cause the champion to lose his title. Gorilla & Jesse have a long talk about it during one of the Wrestlemanias (III, I think).
