That was pathetic. Pitiful. This Yankee Team that played in the division series was NOT the Dynasty. They were bumbling pieces of shit who could barely get anyone out. Someone better be screaming their lungs out right now, and if Joe Torre isn't willing to, George should fly someone in to scream and yell. That was embarassing.

I knew they were in trouble this year.

Their pitching was really shaky, Soriano sucks in the field, and they screwed themselves with dumb trades.

Damn You Bob!

You Red Sox Fan!

That was some pathetic play on behalf of The Yankees.

Fucking Pitching Staff!

I never would have guessed, under any circumstances, that out of all the teams in the MLB playoffs, the first team eliminated would be the Yankees...

Yeah, I think in my heart, I knew that this just wasn't the year. They just haven't been "The Yankees" all year.

And Bob, why don't you tell us what's been keeping the Sox busy for the last week? Golf?

Of course not.

Manny got a tongue piercing, Nomar renounced baked beans, Tony Clark is still on strike, and Pedro is stuck in the clubhouse after "shutting it down."

Damn Bob, edit your first post.

Wow....A true Yankee Fan besides myself.

It just wasn't our year.......

Well on the good side, The D-Backs should get Swept.

Oh, I've already got the first line

"Start spreading the news, George's screaming today!"

George should fly in himself and chew this squad out.

There will be changes.

Stottlemyre is gone now. He was thinking of leaving before, and with the showing of the pitching staff, he won't be welcome back.

Weaver is gone, Hernandez is gone, and either Karsay or Stanton are gone.

They are going to go HARD after someone. I'd say Maddux or Glavine, but Turner is willing to spend as well, and it would take some serious overbidding to pry one of those two away from Turner, and with the cap now, I don't think the Yanks will do it.

But the Yanks will find someone.

But if they don't win it all next year, the entire house will be shook up. Torre, Pettite, Rivera, and other big names will be out the door.

At least it's nice to know that New York now has NO good sports teams.

Raul Mondesi is gone too. Damn, that was a mistake.

Wasn't Zimmer thinking of leaving too?

And I think they will keep Stanton over Karsay, just a gut feeling.

By normal standards, it was a good year.

By Yankee standards, it really wasn't

Mondesi was the reason that the scores weren't even more out of hand.

Every time an Angel shot something to right field, they stayed at first.

Mondesi will be gone if they blow it next year.

And if they can get their hands on a top pitcher, they'll dump both Karsay and Stanton.

Hell, if Rivera doesn't get any better, either dump him or send him back to middle relief and find someone who can close a game.

Rivera's the biggest question mark right now, since he only pitched the one games.

As for Zimmer, as long as Torre's around, Zimmer probably will be as well. But, like I said, if Torre doesn't win it all next year, he's gone.

Hernendez Gone!

Karsay not Stanton Gone!

Willie Randolph will probably leave to take the Manager position on another Team.

Fuck Stottlemyre!

It felt great seeing the Yankees lose in the first round. I had my doubts about them after game 2 because the Angels did not seem afraid of them, as they put up some big offensive numbers. It seems my doubts were right on. I hope the Angels go all the way now because I doubt I could cheer against any team that knocked out the Yankees.

On a side note, poor Giambi. He goes to the Yankees to get a ring, only to lose in the first round again. The curse continues!

I hate Mondesi, and I was hoping that God would be kind to me, and have him be the last out. Unfortunately, it was not to be, but really, I don't care.

Congrats to the Angels and their fans, and I couldn't be happier.

Poor Jason Giambi.....

He probably thought he had his World Series Championship locked up when he joined The Yanks.

I guess the "Yes Network" isn't the "Home Of Champions" anymore, right?

Eh, good point. But when I was at the game on Wednesday, and I saw he was the last hope, I almost started packing.

If they fly an embarassing "AL East Division Champion" flag next year, someone will be hurt.

I would laugh like hell if Oakland won it all this year.

I probably would to. I'd stop moping long enough to see the irony in that.

That's the Yankees biggest problem right now. They've gutted their farm system, so they have to count on free agents. Steinbrenner will overspend on a high priced free agent on the decline, and will panic by dumping a bunch of players based on 3 games of bad baseball. If the Yankees aren't careful, their team could easily resemble the Yankees of the late 80s.

well as a yankee fan im glad they lost...they went from a small ball team that relied on stong defense and fundamentals from a home run hitting spectacle...this should be a humbling experience for them and set them straight, as for now im rooting for the Cards cause i liked Tino Martinez

The Yanks looked shakier going into this postseason than they have in recent memory. Rivera The Invincible Postseason Monster had been replaced by a question mark with a bad arm. Their defense, once so sound, was rather miserable this year. The good pitching that normally accompanied it was spotty as well. One thing the Yanks did very well was bash the ball, but they were bad enough at everything else for that to be irrelevant.

The better team won. And it will be an interesting offseason in the Big Apple.

The two teams who played in the World Series last year become the first two teams eliminated this year.

Does this happen often?

To answer my own question: it has never* happened...

* = by never, I mean since MLB incorporated the LDS into the post-season. I don't think I have the dedication to research the entire history of the MLB ALCS/NLCs...
