Yea, I finally got off my ass and bought Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots today. I've seen reviews like "OMG! 5 1/2 stars out of 5!" tossed around for a while and then realized that even if that was totally wrong any album with the words "Battles", "Pink" or "Robots" in the title has to be worth a look, and one with all three is a definite purchase (crappy bands, take note!).

I also noticed that a used Transmissions from the Satellite Heart was available so I bought that too.

Seeing as how I haven't listened to either yet (at least not all the way through, I'm on track 4 of YBtPR right now), did I make the "right choice" in purchasing these albums?

Both are good albums, though after spinning it constantly for a couple weeks after purchasing it (the day before it came out), I haven't listened to Yoshimi very much.

I'd call Yoshimi my third favorite album of the year thus far. It got unfairly dismissed because it isn't The Soft Bulletin II, however, so I doubt very many year-end lists will agree with me on that. It's most definitely a fine album, though, so I'd say your decision was a wise one.

Transmissions from the Satellite Heart rules the fucking earth. Much more enjoyable than the soft bulletin or anything else prior. then again, i am a sucker foir simple, distorted pop songs and transmissions has that in bundles!

haven't heard the new album yet but i think i'll try and download some of the songs later

I love Yoshimi, although I'm confused as to why they released do you realise as a single as IMO it's by far the worst track on the album
