My First Indy Wrestling Show Ever

Well It's been 4 years since I've had the need to drive in philadelphia but I went anyway - I heard that ROH is a Puroresu style promotion with long matches, and clean finishes so I figured it's time for me to make a pilgrimage to an indy show. I watch CZW on TV all the time and it was nothing but a huge spotfest from what I've seen so I was really hoping for some long matches - and after reading Justin Baisden's review of the first show - I couldn't wait.

 

Well I got FUCKING LOST on my way and was 1 and a half hours late because there was "Lyricist's Lounge" in philadelphia as well and that was over 8 billion wannabe rappers holding their crotch in a contest to determine who could say the same shit over and over again (ima kill u, ima fuck ur mom) the best. So I got stuck in a traffic jam.

 

By the time I got there - the second row seats I had payed for had already been taken and the bouncer told me he could check stubs if I wanted - but I'd rather not be a bitch so I just waited for the intermission and took my seat back.

 

I missed Marriarto (sp) and the Death match and SAT which were my really only reasons for coming and I was extremely depressed - but I was even more depressed at the rest of the show...Low Ki v.s. the Big Fat Guy was a ** match at the most - I don't know why ppl say Lo Ki works so stiff, he seemed to be pretty careful to me. I wasn't impressed but crowd popped big for Low Ki so I did the same.

 

Mental Note - slack jawed yokels only made up 1/4 of the fans - the rest were tongue in cheek, foul mouthed internet smarks!

 

Mental Note - I was surprised at the amount of good looking women there. They had that "tom boy" look to them too - but I was concentrating more on the fact that the guy who STOLE my seat, was now asking for them back and whether or not I'd have to cut him with the box cutter I carry in my back pocket (just for philadelphia occasions).

 

I let it go and took a deep breath and stood - to see ICP come out to my surprise - I'm not a fan of their music but Violent J is the most smart business oriented genius I know so I immediately rushed to the back to meet him and talk about the industry (I have a studio in my basement and record myself and other artists).

 

Anyway...there were about 40 ICP fans sitting outside saying they wanted to see ICP perform or really complaining or something about how it was only 5.50 to get in and see ICP do their thing and then leave - but 15.00 to stay for general admission...

 

ICP had already performed so the 5.50 offer was no longer in effect, none of america's youth understood this. I didn't care I waited by the dressing room for ICP - all night, apparently they left but I didn't care the arena was so small - seats in the back were only 7 feet from the front so it was all the same.

 

Then a 3 way match came on with 3 guys I have no idea - Michael Shae was the winner who they were and maybe I should have payed more attention but it had seemed there was no psychology - at least it had a clean finish.

 

- Black man in purple suit fought a laughing dwarf and won in a squash. Big black man from the audience chokeslammed somebody - I was happy black people were dominating as I have enslaved them for so long according to Louis Farrakhan. I'm no longer guilty.

 

 

- To say ICP got booed out with "Don't come back" is an understatement - they were playing the Faces, and everyone gave them the finger, said "Fuck you" loudly with children present...this was a precurser of things to come. A girl who payed 5.50 to see ICP got cussed out by half the arena and walked out teary eyed. THat was funny. Probably because she was fat.

 

- I went back to my seats because apparently ICP had left and people in the back near the door STANK LIKE SHIT - come on guys take a fucking shower.

 

- Chris Daniels came out to a thunderous pop though I think he was a heel. He had a cool look about him. He came out with some bitch who was his manager. If this was EWR I'd give her "0" charisma. She played a great heel manager by standing there while daniels was getting pinned and going "get up" - lower case letters are on purpose here. She had unbelievable abs - seemingly huge REAL titties, and no ass whatsoever. She looked tired so when she came out later on the street corner - while I was STILL waiting for ICP, I decided against asking her if she was single - she needed to rest.

 

- Not sure of the storyline of the main event - but Doug Williams - if the federation was filled with workers like he - I will come to another show. Nice psychology in the match, a lot of near falls and an APPROPRIATE AMOUNT OF SPOTS.

Daniels "cheated to win" - and I had to give them props on match of the night from what I had seen altough Mariarto is my goddamn favoritie and I'm sure he blew everyone away.

 

Funny thing - tongue in cheek smarks by the end of the night were chanting "Fuck fuck you-ooo, FUCK FUCK (clap clap clap)" and "HEY DANIELS GUESS WHAT - YOU SUCK"

 

Williams was on the rope after destroying daniels at the end and I threw both my fists in the air to show that - yes dude, you saved my night from sucking - he winked at me as if to say yes dude, this fed has gone down the shitter and I KNOW IT...

 

Or he was gay, god knows I AM for waiting for ICP until 1:30 am outside while daniels walked by and the rest of the crew.

 

- Hit squad came out and got in the lexus and said they were going to japan - I don't know how they got a lex on indy salary but hopefully they can hit me off with a Quarter Kilo that I can sell when they come back - because that's the ONLY way I know they're doing it.

 

A bunch of juggalos walked up to me and asked if ICP was still there - I couldn't answer because I was staring at the one girl with dreadlocks and baggy jeans - not because she was strange, but because I WANTED TO FUCK HER.

 

- Daniels walked by and I said "SIck match guy, that s the hot shit" he could NOT understand my brooklyn accent however and the fact I had a boxcutter in my hand in plain view (I don't play in the city) made him walk pretty fast and barely acknowledge me). Daniels if you read this - which I doubt you will, you're safe.

 

- That broad with the titties walked by me like twice and she's beautiful but again - no sexual harrassment tonight, she's a lady and needed sleep. I smiled and said good night - and was promptly ignored.

 

- ICP never showed but I don't care because I'm a manic depressive and being by myself late at night is risking suicide - so being around people was really helping me out.

 

Points to Consider:

 

* This was far from Puroresu.

* I will try XPW next time, or probably 3PW because I want to fuck missy hyatt so bad and she will be there I will just have to ask her to fuck.

* Too much indy crap spot fest.

 

 

oh well back to New Japan tapes and Best of Steven Regal for me.

 

RF Video had best of ric flair for sale afterward I should have gotten it though.

 

my night was ***** for not committing suicide, minus a star for not killing the guy who stole my seat, and minus 2 stars for not meeting ICP, and minus the rest for being late and seeing the black purple man beat up a midget in a squash. All in all my over all night was "I'm gay" stars and that's it.

As someone who went to ROH's previous show, a good chunk of the fans are no different than any other yokel weirdos and retards who want to see "wrasslin.'" There was this one weird guy with long hair, and a lot of missing teeth with an Allison Danger T-shirt on that was positively leering at the group I was with (all guys btw) and playing with his belt buckle. I swear, if he made even half a step toward us I would have beaten the fucking piss out of him, and blown my shot with prospective employer RF. (Now you know why I defend him in the tape trading forum- you're the man Rob!) There's also a guy in a fishnet shirt who's a regular and also pretty creepy.

 

That said, it was a very minor problem, and I had a great time at "Unscripted," despite the stifling heat, and I'll probably be at Philly 11/9 and Wakefield too. ROH is a great fed (not just because I might be working for them soon either) because you get to see all the top indy talent and TNA guys in the same place.

I walked up to get my tickets and saw him. The whole crowd of people waiting outside of Americal was making fun of him.

I definitely beg to differ, and I was 2nd row seated. It just didn't captivate me like when I saw Angle v.s. Austin at unforgiven live in 2001...in MY opinion that match was ***** - scott keith gave it *** 1/2 - oh well.

 

The match was stiff with a few suplexes directly to the spine (I guess drinking mineral water through a nose IV is these guys really wan) - there were several kicks to the face which were pulled...I dunno I guess I'm used to shoot fighting stiffness - and those slaps to the face did not impress me at all. I don't care if they were "real" slaps - it's a fucking slap, it has no effect on your opponent except to make them angry.

 

it wasn't BRUTAL...I just couldn't feel the psychology - low ki worked on the knee of samoa joe yet it didn't figure into the finish - the finish was multiple knees to the face finishing Samoa Joe - I guess the slaps wore him down?

 

** and i'm sticking to it. daniels v.s. doug williams was much better - it just didn't have as many "stiff" open fisted slaps to the face to make the crowd go "ohhhhhh"

"Ki vs. Joe. OH MY GOD!!!I have never seen ANYTHING come close to this as far as stiffness goes. Hashimoto vs. Tenryu, Hansen vs. Kawada, Takada or Tamura vs. Vader, Wahoo vs. Manny....ALL pale in comparison to this. The Story was simple, both played strike one-upmanship and it was totally believeable that Ki could go toe to toe, as his strikes were crisp, swift and dead on...Joe Killed Ki right back and murdered him with the most wicked Ohtani bootscrapes ever. Ki`s face after the show looked a bit swollen. NASTY match. They each got one count nearfalls early, then later Joe hit an Island Driver and Ki hit a rude looking high arc Saito Suplex and delayed his cover for a two and a half near-fall. The finish was basically Ki reversing a Death Valley Driver into a standing Fujiwara armbar --- Joe attepting to get out of the hold, Ki transitioning into a triangle choke, Joe unable to pull off a Gotch lift due to exhaustion and Ki taking advantage of Joe`s fatigue by hitting a series of brutal Kawada kicks for the pinfall. A GREAT GREAT MUST SEE match. I have never sat during a match as intense as this. I thought I was at a MMA event. Fucking Brutal. I`m missing tons of cool stuff, but this was a match to check out. The show of respect by Ki to Joe and vice versa and display of the Zero One banner was a nice touch."

Are there always this many assholes and psychos in the audience? I understand why Chris Daniels and his valet didn't care to chat.

 

Are the smarks smelly and psychotic-looking? The indy shows in my area don't seem to have anyway, so I'm wondering what the consensus is, appearance-wise.

just making it clear by all means that i had no intention of "stalking" chris daniels or the broad he had as his valet, I was just hanging out seeing if ICP was still there - dressed pretty normally (if not somewhat "gangsta" - white t-shirt to my knees, jean shorts sagging to my shin)...I always keep a blade at my waist in brooklyn because I'm white, and I figured philly was just as dangerous...

 

there were a few weirdos at the wrestling show - but you know what? wrestling in general is a poorly acted simulated show of violence - isn't that WEIRD? I try not to judge, although I'll definitely still have a weapon at the next show - I'm thinking it will be ROH again considering they have american fucking dragon next time AND FUCING DONOVAN MORGAN
