Wrestling's Most Unstable

Recommended Posts

Guest BifEverchad

I got to thinking about this one day and meant to post it, but I never got around to it. Anyways, I was watching a WWF In Your House from 96 or 97, and Brian Pillman was cutting a promo. Throughout the entire thing I was thinking to myself, "Man this guy seem like a real fuck-up". I totally understand it was his character to be a ticking 'time bomb' and a crazy man, but still. The way he carried himself and just the overall feeling I got of him was that, he seems like an unstable guy.

Then I got to thinking and thought of a couple of more of wrestlings most unstable performers. Guys who seemed like they were a few fries short of a Happy Meal, and if you met them in real life, you'd think they were a little crazy.

I came up with:

Sid Vicious

"Psycho" Sid? Yeah, that seemed to me like an extension of his real life persona if you ask me. This guy literally reeked of a crazy man. Just the way he carried himself and the story of the '93 Hotel fight with Arn Anderson really seals the deal.

Rowdy Roddy Piper

Look at the guy. Unstable is the word to describe him. Maybe it was just a great performance, but I alway got the feeling that this guy was a little loose in the head. I still love him though.

The Ultimate Warrior

This guy most likely will take the cake as the biggest fuck up that ever wrestled. He legally changed his name to Warrior? Ok, yeah he's a perfectly healthy human being. Warrior University here I come!

Abdullah the Butcher

He made a career out of busting himself open constantly. His Puerto Rico matches are enough to make you cringe. Getting sliced open by Carlos Colon and Mr. Pogo with a fork is really insane. But hardcore and being unstable is two different things, but I think this guy was cracked regardless.

Anyways, those are just a few examples of what I mean when I said, Wrestlings Most Unstable performers. I'm sure there are a few more that everyone will think of, so let's make a discussion out of it. Who do you think was in the running as.......Wrestlings Most Unstable Performer?

Jake Roberts always seemed a little strange to me.In "Beyond The Mat" Vince even said he could never tell the difference between Jake the character and the real person.

My vote would have to be the Warrior, he has NEVER seemed sensible at any point his life.

A darkhorse would be New Jack. He's had four justifiable homicides, how many normal people can claim that.

Defiently New Jack. I don't think he's so much playing a gimmick as he is just being himself out there. Which is the scary part.

Bruiser Brody was a really unstable guy. Several times, during the middle of a match, if a fan did something to piss him off, he would run into the crowd and just start beating their ass. Many guys were afraid to work with him because he had a really short fuse. From several accounts, guys either thought he was a gentleman or thought he was the biggest asshole in the sport. He was very paranoid when it came to promoters. He was a hell of a performer though. The Dynamite Kid was similar in some ways.

I dunno. Sid DID stab Double A with a pair of scissors. I think he's running a close second to New Jack. Sure, Warrior's fucking nuts, but has he ever assaulted anybody with a sharp object before?

Hulk Hogan has to be crazy, thinking a man near 50 should be a real threat to a 30 year old.

Steph is also nuts, i mean no normal person would book like she does.

I'm sure roid rage played a roll in that

Sabu...

The guy sells crazy really well, the bastard hasn't even cut a promo in his career.

I saw a match were he missed a triple jump moonsault and landed mouth first on a table leg facing up...he rolled outside the ring for a minute or so then got back in to finish the match.

He's often sloppy, but he'll fuck himself up in every match.

Scott Steiner is pretty unstable. There's been plentry of Roid Rages stories from him.

Scott Hall was unstable but not in a way dangerous to anyone but himself.

i agree with the point about Hall, i mean he fucked up his personal life but we can all laugh at his drunk stories whereas Sid nearly killed someone. Warrior is on his own planet, which he's probably named, and thus is also not a danger to anyone. Brody's up there, but some of the time he would just do it for a laugh, like with Lex Luger in the cage match.

Terry Funk

In his 60's . . . knees so fucked up he lives in a constant world of pain. And still working a normal indy wrestling schedule . . .

THAT'S fucked up . . .

Steiner is a roid raging crazy. Vader never seemed completely there. I mean he got his eyeball knocked out in a match, stuffed it back in and finished, plus he has plenty of assault stories. Goldberg also came off as pretty crazy, in that he thought that he was a shootfighter.

Superfly Jimmy Snuka is one of those guys too. I met him a few years back and he seemed out of it. He always had a faraway look in his eye when he wrestled. Plus there is that whole girlfriend thing.

Actually, I THINK he's about 57-58, that's not to say he won't be fucking himself up in his 60s doing indies though.

Good vote

I know what you guys mean, Warrior isn't dangerous. But he didn't really say that it had to be violent, just unstable.

That being said, I would not want to live in a house with the Warrior.

living in a house with warrior wouldn't be dangerous so much as really annoying. i can very easily picture him going off on a 3-hour rant about liberals, what this country really needs & everybody else being too weak for the human race at the drop of a hat. one would have to keep warrior earplugs handy at all times.

I guess you could say Randy Savage was unstable to a certain extent.

Just look at the guy and you can come to the conclusion that he isnt quite normal.

Wasnt it even said that he was so jealous and insecure of Elizabeth back in the day, that he used to lock her in the dressing room when he wasnt with her, so other wrestlers and staff couldnt make contact with her?

yeah, he was or still is, a bit of a nutcase.

Warrior is on his own planet, which he's probably named,

 hilarity!

I'm gonna have to second the Sabu vote. I mean he's never attacked somebody or anything, but damn, does his heart pump Morphine instead of blood? You just broke your jaw! Stop the fucking match and go to the hospital!

anyway, it should also be pointed out that New Jack seems to be having a really good time in the ring, which is fine untill you remember that what he's doing in the ring is usually hitting someone in the brain with a letter opener.

Bob Backlund is nuts. He always seemed sort of crazy, and the stories I've heard about him confirm it, like from Foley's book about giving out his home address cause he wanted to get his picture signed.

Vince McMahon has a few problems as well.

Rayo de Jalisco is just a fat big luchadore with no real talent and the comedy spots do not move me much. And that for some reason he forced Hombre Sin Nobre to change his name from Hijo de Rayo to HSH.

Damn you Rayo, you no talent bum, for forcing so many matches against the Mascara 2000 & Capos, and holding down real talent like HSH.

Rayo vs Gigante Silva is not entertaining

Abby is anything but crazy. He is considered to be one of the most well reserved wrestlers's in the back and an overall nice guy.

Hands down, no questions asked, the most unstable wrestler of all time was Bruiser Brody.

Pillman was crazy but he can not touch Brody in the amount of shit he did inside/outside the ring. Pillman really became a nut in and outside of the ring in the last 2 years of his career. Brody was a crazy son of a bitch for more than half his career, which spanned nearly 20 years.
