Now...I had always known that Austin didn't get along with Owen after the botched spot almost left him crippled...

 

but what I didn't know was, according to Meltzer who said Austin told him first hand, Austin beleived that Owen had done it on purpose.

 

Meltzer went on to say that there was now way that Owen had done it on purpose, but that Austin had convinced himself that it was so.

 

When you think about the way Austin left, and the rumors that he had done so out of fear of being screwed over...

 

I guess the guy really was paranoid.

 

I still miss him though.

Yeah, I remember reading that the Hart's were offended by Austin's beer salute at the end of RAW is Owen, because Austin couldn't stand him by that point and it was just for the sake of TV.

I heard the story before but I don't think there was any way Owen did that on purpose.

What would Owen's motivate be? Why does Austin think that? I don't get it.

Considering that Austin was the foundation the company would build itself on, Owen doing that on purpose could only mean that he intended to kill the company. However, I'm sure Austin has his own reasons for thinking that, even if they're completely false.

I can understand Austin having a problem with Owen. He did break his neck and nearly crippled him. Whether he believes it was intentional is something only he knows and which we can only speculate about, but the fact remains that Owen did almost end his career. I can't say I blame him because, god knows, if someone almost crippled me, I'd be hard pressed to forgive them anytime soon.

Is it suprising that a man that constantly was talking to his watch and saying "What?" may have had a couple screws loose?

Being bitter about getting hurt is much different than thinking someone is trying to sabotage one's career by paralyzing him.

We all have enemies who we once called friends. I know if one of them died I'd feel bad and would want to somehow let them know that all is forgotten and hope they rest in peace.

On one hand you're right...

 

on the other hand, someone who did have heat with the guy probably shouldn't be ending the show dedicated to him by doing his own trademark.

 

If Austin wanted to do anything, they shouldn't have put it in that spot...it should have been just like everyone else

But wasn't Austin the head guy in the WWF at the time? Shouldn't the show close with the main guy?

 

And if there was true heat between them, I think he'd rather do a beer salute then to try and do one of those taped segments where he talks about how he feels and his favorite Owen moment.

See...to me...

 

closing the show with the main guy is more a business move than a tribute move.

 

I have always maintained that Austin should have done something...but I never agreed with making that the last image of the show.

 

He didn't even like the guy.

That is the way I took it. That he was raising a beer to the memory and that what passed had passed. Even if you watch the Smackdown after 9/11 he seems to be the type that would toast a beer in memory then lay out his feelings.

had this been the case, austin probably would've taken the time to go to owen's funeral.

That's possible, but he didn't neccesarily have to attend the funeral to show his respect. Some people just don't like funerals.

Personally, I think Austin closing the Raw is Owen show was the right way in a mark type way and a smark type way.

 

Mark: Austin, being the company man and number one draw as a face, closes the show and dedication in true Austin fashion.

 

Smark: Austin buries the hachet and realizes that his neck was broken...but so wasn't Owen's. At least Austin is still alive today.

 

I'm just babbling, but who knows.
