Browns vs Ravens

Recommended Posts

Guest razazteca

the Brown almost made the biggest comeback of the season when they were down 23-0 in the 4th. With nearly 8 minutes left in the game down 23-8 and on the 2 yard line the starting QB somehow escaped a safty by running 14 yards but in the next play got sacked by 3 defenders and received a concussion to boot. So in comes in Holcome who had 5 TDs in the 2 games he played. And what happens? Well Holcome takes the team to the promise land for TD on the strength of his arm and new favorite receiver Northcutt. Then is a what everybody was expecting an onside kick to the side, Dawson, the kicks the ball down the center and recovers it himself!!!! So with almost 1 minute left in the game and on near the 40 yard line the drive continues making the Dawg Pound believe that they have a chance in winning the game. So after a couple of passes to Northcutt and Davis the Browns are within reach of victory with 10 seconds left on the clock. But it was not their night as Holcome went to Northcutt to much as the Defense was triple covering him. And a few plays later the Ravens made the INT to seal the game at 23-15.

someone needs to remind the ravens that they aren't this good.

they are feeding off of Ray Lewis' intensity (and possibly threat to murder them after the super bowl)

This must be stopped.

26-21 was the final, btw.

Jamal Lewis' fumble was HUGE. If the Ravens score there, the game is most likely out of reach. But the Browns got the ball and took it down the field. Ray Lewis' injury was also a large factor, as his absence was very noticeable on the Ravens' D. It annoys me that the Ravens have let two teams get close late in the game after they've opened up large leads.

Props to Kelly Holcomb, though, who played well in the fourth quarter and gutted out the last part of the game with a gimpy leg.

I'd still like to know how that sack on Couch wasn't a safety. He got barrelled back into the end zone, which is where he was sacked. There can't be forward progress when the whole play is going backwards. I fail to see how that wasn't two points for the Ravens.

It was a great 4th quarter. All real Browns fans know to never give up on a game because anything can happen with us and usually does.

They're not, but there's definitely a comparison to be made to their 2000 Super Bowl team. The 2000 team certainly had more talent, including the best defense to step onto a football field, but this year's team has some interesting similarities.

Both teams had quarterbacks that weren't expected to be very good.

Both teams had scrap-heap receivers: 2000's bunch led by the overrated Qadry Ismail, and this year's by the overrated Travis Taylor. Brandon Stokley was the dark horse on both squads.

Both teams had strong tight ends.

And the big one: both teams never got any respect. In 2000, the Ravens' defense was dismissed as not really that good. It was. They couldn't beat Denver in the wild-card game at home. They did. There's no way they can go into Tennessee and win. They did. OK, now there's *really* no way they can win in Oakland... I mean, no one wins in Oakland, right. They won, convincingly.

Then it was the Super Bowl, and they couldn't beat the Giants. The game wasn't even close.

This year's team doesn't have the talent that they did two years ago, but they can have the same motivation: no one gives them any respect. Combined with Ray Lewis' infectious intensity, the Ravens could have an interesting season.

Those jokes really stopped being funny two years ago.

The Browns were only able to score when Ray Lewis was out of the game. If he hadnt got hurt, it wouldnt have been that close. All I know is

RAVENS = FIRST PLACE!

Someone from that division is going to the playoffs with a losing record.

I can feel it.

the Browns did good on the trick plays too bad the 2 pt conversion did not every time

now there is a QB controvertsy again but the more important question should be which one of the Browns QB is healthy next week?

Well lets see

Ravens are 2-2, and everything seems to be clicking although I can forsee the offense going into conservative mode and saying you beat our defense is going to be trouble. Jamal Lewis is back in 2000 form, and Redman reminds me of Dilfer. They seem to have a WR now in Stokely and Heap is good as well. Its obvious that Ray Lewis is they key to the defense, without him they really arent that good.

Browns are 2-3, no clue about their starting QB. Couch is concussed, Holcomb was hurt late in tonights game. Their rush Defense sucks (180 to Jamal Lewis and they gave up 100 the first two weeks..) They play William Green when Jamal White is clearly the better RB..

Steelers are 1-3 and even with Tommy Maddox playing pretty well, couldnt win today.

The defense is obviously not playing well..This team could pull it together and make a run, but right now Id have to say that they won't.

The Bengals are 0-5. The only thing interesting about the Bengals is that they could win a game before the Rams..

It's amazing how one guy on defense can have such an impact on a game. Cleveland's production before Lewis left the game compared to after were nite and day.

Coming into the season, I forsaw a 4-16 year for the Ravens. Perhaps they can make to the 7-9, 8-8 range now.

Other than the one invented by the media there's still no QB controversy in Cleveland at this point. Couch is the starter until he proves without a shadow of a doubt that he isn't the right guy to start.

It'll take more than this to start a real QB controversy.

Um.. Ok, Couch has played 4 games, they are 1-3 in those games. Holcomb has played in 2 games, and they are 1-0 and he almost got them a win against the Ravens, digging them out of the hole that Couch created.

Yeah, Couch should be the starter..I like that idea being a Ravens fan..

I dont know about you but I think that the 2 minute offense by Kelly Holcome is more productive than Tim Couch throwing the ball to White in the 1st half.

The Browns need to use Green on 3rd downs only, White is a better runner and receiver which Couch depends on.

Holcomb didn't play has well as people act like. The Ravens didn't have Ray Lewis and they dropped at least 3 easy Int's.

Being from Cleveland, it's obvious that The Browns play better when Holcomb plays. Is he better than Couch? I'm not sure, but Holcomb seems to emit more energy to his players than Couch.

William Green has been playing pitifully, and it's a damn shame Jamel White didn't get more playing time last night.

I'll tell ya, it seems that The Browns may turn into The Cardiac Kids 2K2.

Week 1 - Lost to KC thanks to Rudd's foolishness

Week 2 - Beat Cincy, well they're Cincy

Week 3 - Stole one from Tennessee in OT after Northcutt's AWESOME performance!

Week 4 - Lost to Pitt in OT after a blocked FG resulted in a 2nd chance thanks to a dumb rule.

Week 5 - Lewis's absence leads to one of the most epic 4th Quarter comebacks in regular season history (almost)

Yeah, if Ray Lewis was still playing then you could fairly compare Holcomb Couch. Problem is Ray Lewis wasn't playing when Holcomb was in. It's kinda hard to compare two players when they didn't deal with the same situration. That's the problem with a qb controversy in Cleveland. Holcomb has played well in two games against bad defenses and in the end of a game where the team had lost their best defensive player that makes their defense work. Couch played well against a bad defense in Tennessee and decent but not that great aganest our big rival who always plays well in our game. To get a fair comparison they will have to start Holcomb aganest Tampa next week so then both qbs will have games against good defenses. If Holcomb starts and plays well against Tampa then he is the right qb and should be the starter from there on out.

Jamel White, William Green, Ernest Byner, Kevin Mack and hell maybe even Jim Brown. I don't think any rb could've ran in that game sunday. Jamel got alot of carries during the game, but neither rb got many carries because we had to give up on the run.

It's way to early to pass judgement on William Green since they aren't even putting him out there demanding he win games for us. They are slowing getting him involved and letting him learn the game so just slow down on the William Green can't play judgement.

It's just that it seems that Green has no confidence in himself. He gets the ball and kind of hesitates befre making his move. By the time he's made up his mind, he's on the ground.

Jamel White is much more explosive out of the backfield and hits the holes as good as anyone else.

I think it's 35+ years of frustration in Cleveland that have made fans like me so antsy. It's like, 'screw next year, screw the future, let's win NOW!' I know it's not sensible, but it's how I feel.

MAYBE, Couch's experience last night may be what he needs to light a fire under his ass to stick it to all the nay-sayers. I sure hope so.

Hmm..Holcomb has a broken leg that he suffered in the game on Sunday Night. Couch has a concussion..

Browns fans: Say hello to Josh Booty, your starting QB for this week vs Tampa Bay...

Fitting name, considering that's where he'll be landing on for most of the next game...
