I'm making a Comp for my friend that has a bunch of these bands on it and I was wondering what you guys think of them?

Deftones: Feh. Not my cup of tea, but tolerable.

REM: Good--occasionally great--band.

Good Charolette (SP?): It's Good Charlotte, and I don't like them.

Prong: Back when I enjoyed metal, this was one of my favorite bands. For that, they will always have a soft spot in my heart, but that's it.

Primer 55: Never heard of them.

Good Charlotte's not all bad. They sing the theme song for Undergrads, one of my favourite cartoons.

The only thing I'd heard from them before I started doing this cd was "Lifestyle's of The Rich and famous" which wasn't horrible.

Prong is ok, and REM's extremely talented, just not something I'm into. The other three fucking suck. ESPECIALLY Good Charlotte. Deftones have a moment or two, though, but are insanely overrated, and absolutely wretched live.

Good Charlotte is ok...they seem to want to blend in punk/emo/ white rap, the song you're thinking of is "The Click", good song.

 

REM is great...the older stuff from Murmur and Reckoning and Fables of the Reconstruction...pretty much their IRS lable stuff is there best...but lately they've been pretty blah

REM - Used to have a moment every album. I'll still listen to some of their old stuff, but I don't go out of my way to hear them.

 

Good Charlotte - Sucks.

 

Prong - Good for an occasional listen.

 

Primer 55 - "This Life" is a great fucking song. Everything else is pretty bad.

Good Charlotte: Horrible.

Prong: Not bad, not particularly great

REM - Only if you're making a comp from their 80s work.

Good Charolette - absolute fucking garbage. I can make better music with my armpit.

Prong - What?

Primer 55 - Cookie-cutter Target metal. Avoid like AIDS.

Deftones - Most of their stuff is of the scream-o variety, so I'm not a big fan. Still, they have some okay songs (but most suck).

 

REM - Not a big fan, but they're talented. I'm only really familiar with their early 90s stuff, though.

 

Good Charolette - They seem like okay guys in real life, but their music is nothing special, although it's a different than anything else I've heard get maisntream play (no, I don't think they sound like Blink 182).

 

Prong - Slightly above average. I love "Snap Your Fingers..." though, but that's probably only because Justin Credible used it a s theme music in ECW, and wrestling-related music always grows on me.

 

Primer 55 - By-the-numbers losers.

Deftones- Adrenaline is crap (but they were just starting out). Around the Fur is unreal, and White pony is very good. They are great live

REM - i probably like 50% of what theyve done, favorite song is "Leave" or "try not to breathe"

Good Charolette (SP?) - dont know enough about them, i know who they are but wouldnt comment

Prong - anything off cleansing or beg to differ is good.

Primer 55- one really good song "Loose" but while a good song, they didnt exactly re-invent the wheel or anything

You're kidding, right? I saw them at War of the Gargantuans in 96 and again in 99 at ozzfest. The first was a fairly small venue, and the second time was a huge outdoor deal, and they were absolutely Wretched, with a capital and oversized huge, HUGE, W

Deftones: What I've heard, I've liked.

REM: My dad really likes them, and so I know enough to give my opinion. Their okay, but I have to be in the mood.

Good Charolette: I can't stand them.

Prong: I think I might of heard one or two songs, but I dug what I heard.

Primer 55: Terrible.

Prong and Primer 55 don't really stand out to me. Good Charlotte blows furiously, and is about as generic as whatever punk alternative blah blah blah is passing for these days gets. Deftones = loud, and that's the only impression they've ever left on me.

 

REM, however, is a band I really need to explore. Automatic For The People is the only album of theirs I own, but it's fricking fabulous. More often than not, I stick into my top 10 favorite albums list, or at least top 20 on a particularly esoteric day. The rest of the 90's work is very hit and miss--every album seems to be about half awesome songs and half just okay. Early 80's work that I've heard, like Murmur, are also pretty darn classy.

Good Charlotte: When I hear the opening for that song "Little Things" I just want to fucking kill things. Seriously. It is the devil!

 

I'm very tolerant of most random bands because most random bands I don't know at shows entertain me. But if Good Charlotte came on, I would go somewhere else til they went away.

Deftones: I liked them untill I saw them in concert with Godsmack. They sucked dick.

REM: I was never a big fan

Good Charolette (SP?): One of the better modern mainstream Punk bands

Prong: I only know "Snap your fingers, snap your neck", but it's a nice, heavy song.
