Guest Cancer Marney Report post Posted October 8, 2002 Whatever. You can make all the excuses in the world, but your petty sniping at a very great man in no way changes the fact that he makes fewer mistakes in speaking than you, than many people in the media, and many, many politicians. You just don't hear about them because you don't want to, and because the media never tried to define a "dummy" image for them. And even if he did make a few more mistakes in speaking, on average, than the average politician (which he doesn't - as I've said, I find him extremely articulate, precise, and intelligent), it would have no bearing whatsoever on his ability to lead the country and to take the correct and necessary decisions. Clinton was smooth, unctuous, and perfectly glib under any and all circumstances. I sure as hell wouldn't want him in the White House right now. Would you? Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted October 8, 2002 Okay, note for all Current Events foldergoers: Don't say anything bad about Jesus H. Bush. He is a holy being who is worthy of your worship and reverance. Who was it who said we've got a folder full of walking heartattacks in here? I'm beginning to agree with that. Guest Cancer Marney Report post Posted October 8, 2002 There's a difference between criticising someone or his policies intelligently and criticising him for making an INSIGNIFICANT ERROR IN SPEECH. The former is useful. The latter is the equivalent of cackling like a monkey and throwing peanuts. Do it if you want, but don't expect anyone with any sense to take you seriously afterwards. As for preferring Clinton in office, I think that can stand by itself. It's telling.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted October 8, 2002 Kotz, there's nothing wrong with making criticisms of the President, as long as they're valid and have some merit. But to harp on the man because he flubs a few words here and there is just plain stupid, petty, and childish. The media portrayed Bush as an idiot because they caught him making a gaffe or two during a speech, and all the people who wanted to believe that have fallen for it. The rest of us know the truth. They did the same thing to Dan Quayle, too, sometimes inventing malapropisms he never committed to further the image they'd created. Quayle couldn't overcome that, but I think President Bush will fare a lot better.
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted October 8, 2002 I understand that making jokes at little flubs is silly, but going all out on people who do really isn't needed. Just let them have their little farcical fun if you're a more sensible person who doesn't base your opinion of a person's merit on several verbal gaffes and ignore them. Going to fight them just drags you into the muck. Kotzenjunge Is Waiting For Something to REALLY Make Fun Of

Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted October 8, 2002 I don't like any political family, whether their last name is Bush or Kennedy. The Presidency is not something that should be nearly hereditary like that. That brings us closer to a monarchy.

Guest Midnight Express83 Report post Posted October 9, 2002 Its not that I hate the bush family, it is just that I just don't like them. I got this from my mom who hated the way Regan ran things. So it’s more inherited.
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted October 10, 2002 I was watching C-Span the other night because I saw Ted Kennedy on and wanted a laugh. Here's the basic transcript of what he said, "Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...... Wah with Iraq is not ummmmmmmmm......... what we need right now. Uhhhhhhhhhhhh.........we need to finish our wah with the Al Queda, uhhhhhhhhhhhhh, ummmmmmmmmmmmmm...........we need to get Osama Bin Laden first." He then went on to confuse Al Queda and Iraq about ten times in between "Ummmmmmmmmmm's." "Wah" was intentional, it's a Boston Accent thing, I say "war" that way too. Where is the public scrutiny for the Senior Senator? His speech was filled with errors and and long pauses, far worse than Bush does. Messing up a stupid cliche and confusing Iraq with Al Queda, by saying we need to get Al Queda and then refering to them as if they are all Iraqi seems far more stupid. It muddled his already week argument.

Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted October 10, 2002 Anyone ever hear that clip Rush Limbaugh used to play at Rally for Kennedy and Clinton back in '96. You can't understand anything the old louse is saying.
Guest B-X Report post Posted October 12, 2002 Its not really the fact he forgot the saying. Thats not uncommon. Its just that, when he did, he left. Did you see his face? Georgy Poo wasn't home. He didnt look around for help or anything. He just.. died. If you ever read The Stand by Stephen King, recall how Tom Cullen would just blank out when trying to make coherant thought? Thats how I expect he looked like. Like Bush did in that segment. Just... gone.

Guest EricMM Report post Posted October 12, 2002 "Potato is spelled with an E" "Blarg blarg blarg" (all over Japanese PM) "I didn't not have sexual relations with that woman" (hand motions) "Locked Box. Locked Box. Locked Box." "Nuculer" The Executive leaders of this country endure rediculous amounts of celebrity. They have Secret Service men to protect them, or else things would be much worse. Frankly, I am just as sick as most people here on people harping on little foibles. You would prefer a good speaker to a good president? That's bullshit. Talking is an important part of being the president, it's true, but so is being a leader. Christ, I'm not even a republican. But why don't you people just harp on the fact that he raised the safe levels of arsenic in the drinking water. Like that makes sense. At least that's a real relative thing. You will have to have stronger livers to make up for that decision. "Fool me once . . . etc" will not hurt you... Like everyone (sensible) said, if you can't pick something important to bitch about, don't bitch about anything at all...
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted October 12, 2002 Georgy Poo wasn't home. He didnt look around for help or anything. He just.. died. Perhaps they've hired Disney to make robots of him to sit and deliver the speeches? The Able Lincoln bot, for example, actually sits down and the curtains automatically draw when he malfunctions. Perhaps George just.... Stops? Then again, they already have an original to work off of
