Guest Shadow Report post Posted February 28, 2002 WWF Smackdown 01/10/02 (Taped 01/08/02) Smackdown kicks off with a video package of the events from Monday night's explosive Raw. Then, we head to the Smackdown opening sequence, followed by Micheal Cole and Jerry 'the King' Lawler welcoming us to Smackdown. Chris Jericho immeaditley comes out for an interview, to the disdain of the crowd. Jericho complains about being screwed out of the Undisputed Title on Raw, but then says that he's not going to let this effect him. He's still the "Living Legend" and he's going to get his title back. Jericho then announces that he is the first man to announce his entry in the Royal Rumble, which is only 9 days away. Jericho is interrupted by the music of Ric Flair. Flair tells Jericho that someone he knows very well is going to be returning on Raw, and he too will be entering the Royal Rumble. Not only that, but this person will be facing Jericho one-on-one live on Raw! Jericho says that it doesn't matter who this returning superstar is, because he's in for a Y2J-ass kicking on Raw. We cut backstage where Christian is seen polishing his European Title belt, when none other than Crowbar enters his locker room! Crowbar asks Christian for directions to Ric Flair's office as he's here for a meeting with him, but Christian doesn't answer, too busy polisihing his title. Crowbar shoves Christian and asks him what's his problem, but Christian tells Crowbar he's the one with the problem- because now he has a match with him, tonight! Crowbar says that he's not even a contracted WWF wrestler yet, to which Christian replies that it doesn't matter, because it's going to be non-title anyway. Christian tells Crowbar he'd better find that screaming bitch of his if he even expects to have a chance against him, before we cut to a commerical. Tag Team Match Hardy Boyz vs. Booker T & Test Right before this match starts, the WWF Tag Team Champions, the Dudleys, and Stacy Kiebler are shown watching this match on a monitor backstage. A frantic, fast-paced match that ends when Test nails Jeff with the big boot for a clean pinfall to give his team the win at 2:33. (**1/2) Backstage, DDP is shown trying to counsel Kane, when The Undertaker walks in. Taker yells at DDP that his win on Raw was a fluke, and tells him that he's going to kick his ass tonight to prove it. Kane gets in Taker's face and tells him to back off, and Taker tells Kane he just got himself a match tonight as we head to commerical break. Non-Title Match Christian vs. Crowbar Crowbar's WWF debut went well as he used his techinical side (don't forget he can basically wrestle three different styles: techinical, cruiserweight, and hardcore) to put on a good match with Christian. Finish came when Crowbar nailed Christian with his own finisher, the Unprettier, for the pinfall at 2:23. (**1/2) We then cut backstage again, where a very angry Triple H is shown arriving at the arena, as Smackdown heads to commerical break. After Smackdown comes back on, Triple H comes out to a rousing ovation. He enters the ring and grabs a microphone. "I'm not in a talking mood after what happened to me on Raw, so I'm going to make this short. SHAWN, VINCE, ROCKY, ALL THREE OF YOU GET YOUR ASSES OUT HERE!" Triple H stares down the top of the stage, awaiting the arrival of the three people who screwed him on Raw. Vince's "No Chance" theme does start to play, but no one appears on the stage. Instead, the Titan Tron changes to show a view of the inside of a limo- and inside it is Shawn Micheals. "Sorry Hunter, old buddy, but the three of us are still out partying from Monday night's victory, so we won't be there in Madison Square Garden tonight." Shawn laughs as the fans boo and jeer him. "But hey, I can understand where you are coming from, Trips." Shawn says. "I mean, I'd feel the same way in your situation. You and the fans all want an explanation from the three of us, don't you? But for now, you'll all get no explanation. We want to be there, in-person, to deliver it to the world. So all of you will have to wait until next Monday, when we roll into Dallas, Texas- my home state! The three of us will give the world the explanation it wants so badly. Well, until then, Trips, you'll just have to wait. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm getting back to the party." Shawn exits the limo as the picutre fades. "Fine, Shawn, you want to play games? That's fine." Triple H says. "I AM the Game, and I will be in Dallas, Texas, and I'm going to take all three of your asses apart!" The crowd cheers as Triple H drops the microphone and leaves the ring as his theme plays. Backstage, Rob Van Dam and Edge are shown walking towards the ring (seperatley, of course), because their Intercontiental Title match is next! WWF Intercontiental Title Match Edge (c.) vs. Rob Van Dam A great match between these two, their styles did not clash at all. The match had a surprise ending, as Rhyno made his return, coming in through the crowd and giving Rob the Gore, giving him the DQ win at 3:35, which means Edge retains. (***) After the match, Rhyno took a chair to Rob's head, then did the same to Edge as he got back up. He posed as the crowd let their hatred known for Rhyno, before heading to the back. Backstage, Jonathen Coachman is shown standing outside the locker room of 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, and promises to get a word with the Rattlesnake when we come back. As Smackdown comes back on, The Coach tries to talk to Austin, who immeaidtley shoves him down and takes his microphone. Austin says he's not in the mood for The Coach's stupid questions, but just has a message for The Rock. Austin tells Rock that he's not going to forgive, and he's not going to forget what happened on Raw, just as Rock once said he wasn't going to forgive or forget what Austin did to Rock at the last Wrestlemania. Austin then throws his name into the hat for the Royal Rumble, and says he's going to win it and go onto Wrestlemania to claim what everyone knows should be his- the Undisputed World Championship. Austin then says that he has an old enemy of his- Kurt Angle- tonight, and tells Kurt that he's going to take all of his surpressed angle out on him. Backstage, Test and Booker T head into Ric Flair's office. They tell Flair that he saw how they dismantled the Hardys earlier tonight, and it proves that they deserve a Tag Team Titles shot. Flair agrees, and gives them the shot against the Dudleys on Raw. Again backstage, Taker and Kane are shown getting ready for their matchup, which is next! Singles Match The Undertaker vs. Kane DDP is out with Kane at ringside. Taker and Kane is a back-and-forth affair for the most part, with slow, sluggish big man wrestling for the most part. The end comes when DDP throws Kane a chair while the referee has been knocked out, and Kane nails his brother with it, then Chokeslams Taker on the chair as DDP revives the referee. Kane covers Taker for the pinfall at 3:55. (*1/2) After the match, DDP does his "Bang" thing on the stage as Taker stares him down. Backstage again as Jonathen Coachman interviews Kurt Angle. Angle tells Coach that Austin and Triple H should quit complaining, since the bigger screwjob happened in his #1 Contenders match with Kane! Angle then says he's also entering himself in the Royal Rumble in 9 days, and then says he's going to prove to everyone that he's a major contender in the Rumble by beating Austin here tonight! Smackdown heads to commerical break as Angle heads towards the ring. Singles Match 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin vs. Kurt Angle After Austin comes out, Angle comes out onto the stage and says that in a fax straight from Vince McMahon, this match is now No Disqualifications! So instead we have.... No Disqualifications Match 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin vs. Kurt Angle Another great match between these two that was more brawl then wrestling. Ending comes when Austin has Angle in the Stunner, but Angle pushes him out of it. Lance Storm and Bossman charge the ring with chairs. Austin dodges a Bossman chair shot, and gives him a Stunner, but gets caught by a Storm chairshot. Angle then straps on the Ankle Lock and the referee calls for the bell since Austin is out and can no longer continue, giving Angle the win at 4:05. (***) Angle and Storm then stomp away on Austin, and Angle lifts Austin up for an Angle Slam, before posing as his music plays to end Smackdown.
