Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted October 8, 2002 Its good to no that Fear Factor, Baseball, and whatever shows were on ABC and CBS were more important than Bush's little speech..
Guest Cancer Marney Report post Posted October 8, 2002 Yeah, "its" good to "no" that network executives can be as silly as worthless, insignificant little people like you.

Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted October 8, 2002 Oh, cause when I checked fox the ball game was on, and I didnt see it on any of the other networks.. and my original intention was to write "Its good to know that no.."
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted October 8, 2002 Yeah, what's the big deal? It's not Iraq is a nuclear threat yet. We got a whole, what, eight years to worry about that...
Guest The Notorious CRD Report post Posted October 8, 2002 Here in Ohio, at least the Cincinnati area, the network stations broadcasted the whole shebang. Thank God for Star Trek: TNG, says I.
Guest big Dante Cruz Report post Posted October 8, 2002 We had eight years... about eight years ago. If Iraq isn't nuclear capable right know, all they have to do is hit the black market and in less than a year, they've got nuclear capability.
Guest Cancer Marney Report post Posted October 8, 2002 re: my first reply in this thread I don't know if Marvin was poking fun at the President or at the networks, now that Patrick's made me take another look at the original post. If it was the latter, I apologise. If it was the former, I don't.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted October 8, 2002 "Here in Ohio, at least the Cincinnati area, the network stations broadcasted the whole shebang. Thank God for Star Trek: TNG, says I." Of course, that's where the speech took place. I wonder if any of the local boycotters (sp) were outside...
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted October 8, 2002 I was kind of mad at the networks because youd think if Bush was trying to get the word out to the public about why we should go through with the war, that the networks would air it. I know that might have not made a huge difference in the # of people who would watch it, but to me it was like the networks saying "We dont care about what you have to say, we can't afford to break into our shows for 15 minutes for your speech because we'll lose money"
Guest Cancer Marney Report post Posted October 8, 2002 The speech was a little over half an hour, actually, but you're right. Sorry for going off like that.
Guest ant_7000 Report post Posted October 8, 2002 Bush had a speech, I didn't know I must of went out and got something to eat while it was on. I always change the channel anyways.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted October 8, 2002 I think everyone got the hint that he would be saying the same thing he has been the last few weeks. I'm not sure what more he can add to what he has been saying for the past few weeks. I need to read the transcript, but I can already say "It's the economy, stupid." Guest Midnight Express83 Report post Posted October 8, 2002 I was at class. I got home at 9:30 then watched RAW. My god what a crapp show that was...oh yeah, um, Bush had a speech? I bet he said the same thing he has been saying since he couldn't find the body of Bin Laden.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted October 8, 2002 CNN transcript Congressmen's reactions Thanks. Okay, he's using aluminum tubes and Jeeps as evidence. Anyone else feel like Bush and his compatriots are coming across like someone posting a string of noisy posts whining about the same person over and over and over? (kind of like HHHate threads, I guess.) It's to the point where I see Bush or someone else on the TV talking about war with Iraq and I just go "SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP" and put it back on Comedy Central. Bush is going to attack Iraq... that was decided months ago. His job has been to try to convince us it's necessary. Problem is, there aren't many valid reasons for it right now. He even acts like it's a foregone conclusion that we must attack them. Like, "omg there's no choices, we just have to do it. sorry, too late. gotta attack. go go go. sorry. yup. no, we gotta attack you. ur fuct. sorry. too late. nope. gotta attack. we're securing peace. we gotta. just have to. sorry. you brought it on yourself. really. we cant stop now. too much put in motion. just letting the public know we're going to war. yup. already started. cant stop us now. not gonna do it. ... charge!" As he just said "the greatest benefit will come to Iraqi men, women, and children." So our sons and daughters are giving their lives for some other country's people. That's sorta screwy. They signed up to defend our country. Not to mention the fact that he keeps using Sept. 11 as his excuse. Well, I say let him go ahead and get rid of Saddam, put a puppet government in Iraq. Then watch Iran fill the power vacuum in the Middle East. WAIT A MOMENT! Iran is part of that Axis of Evil as well. Might as well take out those fuckers, too. After all, they have supported terrorists in the past and MY GOODNESS, NEVER FORGET 1979-80! NEVER FORGET! I keep waiting for him to make up some bullshit about the war being good for the economy as well. I imagine he will save that for a time when he gets REALLY desperate for public support. EDIT: Scrap the Jeep thing. Someone told me "Well, gee, you don't think he's talking about AERIAL vehicles?" But that's just saying "Hey, they have planes." Guest JHawk Report post Posted October 9, 2002 What I thought was classic was Connie Chung interviewing one of the Democratic representatives from California, and the guy said "I'm not calling George Bush a liar, but how about actually showing me these reports before I make a vote based on these reports?" If this war is really necessary, and you need the public to support you so badly, then why do the people that actually have to vote on whether we go to war have no clue what the fucking reports say? Then again, if I believed that anybody was giving an opinion that wasn't based on party lines...
Guest Cancer Marney Report post Posted October 9, 2002 Some of them aren't. The Democrats are pretty much evenly split on this one.

Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted October 9, 2002 "Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger." *
Guest Olympic Slam Report post Posted October 9, 2002 They discussed this very topic on Hannity and Colmes tonight. They had on this liberal guy who actually said with a straight face that "Bush didn't want the speech televised because he just wanted the media to play sound bites from the speech." That makes no sense as the whole reason Bush made this speech was so that he could clearly outline his intentions and evidence. Why would Bush want to leave it to the (liberal) media to play sound-bites of their choice instead of his full claim?
Guest HecateRose Report post Posted October 9, 2002 Well, due to the timezone I'm in, Bush's speech played at about 2 am here. Needless to say, I did not stay up and watch it. I was figuring there would be sound bites on the news I get here (Headline News is most prevalent here), but I haven't heard a thing. On a military run TV station, we have heard nothing about it.
